Saga Legends Price Hike at WM and Target

Yesterday, I was at my local Target and noticed that their SL figures were on pegs tagged $9.19, more than a buck over their TVC figures. I thought maybe it was a mistake, scanned one, and it was no mistake. This is an urban high-traffic store, and some of those seem to charge more for some items, so today I hit 2 more Target stores and they had their Saga Legends at $8 and $9.19, 1 was another urban store (they had endcap pegs with the old price, but the main display had the new price).

So I figured I'd pick up figures at WM, right? WRONG! They've also raised SL prices to $7.96, which is 50 cents more than TRU at this point. This is madness! Especially with the pegs in my area flooded with SL figures already since they're mixed in with CW and choking CW off (ha, what irony!), wave 1 is definitely feeling itself out and wave 2 has found its pegwarmers around here (Han Hoth hood-up and the Battle Droids are the ones around here).

What is wrong with these companies? Why gouge a market that's already depressed?

I just finished beating this game and was surprised that there wasn't a thread for it.

This was a pretty good but not great game. It was, however, the best Transformers game since Transformers: Armada for the PS2. I think it would have been more enjoyable if the graphics hadn't been so dark. Out side of Optimus, Ratchet, and Soundwave, I was disappointed with the voices. I would have rather had more G1 voices since this game was a precursor to the G1 series.

I would have liked to play all the characters in the every level of the campaign mode, although I realize it would have been impossible on the jet levels. The final boss was one of the hardest bosses I have ever faced on an Easy difficulty.

All in all I give it about a 7.5-8 out of 10. Moderate replay value as it fun to play through again as a different character. The multiplayer is pretty fun, after you get used to it. First starting out, you will get angry at the gameplay until you learn how to use each character. The biggest problem is, not to many people are playing multiplayer, (around 1,000-2,000 at a time) so if you get a match with someone you can't stand, there is a good chance you will see them alot.

I was wondering if we know if/when the Star Wars Battle Figure Stands will return to sale? I think they fit much better for loose displaying, but if they aren't coming back I'll have to go back to the generic round ones again.

We need a new Biker Scout figure, the existing one must die

While setting up my AT-AT with Imperials, I used one of my VTSC Biker Scout figures to pilot the white speeder bike that comes with the AT-AT....

While setting up my AT-AT with Imperials, I used one of my VTSC Biker Scout figures to pilot the white speeder bike that comes with the AT-AT. However, the figure's limitations reminded me why I never army-built him in the first place, and now that we have a better speeder bike for him to ride, it's even more frustrating that we don't have a good enough figure to ride it.

Now that the Saga Dlx speeder bike mold has been recovered, 2 things need to happen:

1) The bike needs materials tweaking, stronger front forks, better springs for freestanding.

2) A new Biker Scout figure must be made to replace the existing turkey, one that can ride the bike correctly.

This thread deals with the Biker Scout issue, which is perhaps the bigger one in my eyes.

The existing Biker Scout figure isn't very good, people need to get over it so we can move on. It's got an awkward pose, the sculpt isn't as sharp as the other vintage-style figures, the helmet is too small, and the joints can't really look good riding the bike. I know a lot of you guys are infatuated with that figure, but just like VOTC Han, slowly the tide must turn to recognize the figure's inferiority in the face of a vastly-improving modern line. VOTC and its sequel lines were right on the cusp of that change, and many of the figures in there don't hold up all that well to modern scrutiny. Sure, many are good, but they could be better, and not by frankensteining their body parts onto figures that don't fit their scale.

Here's what I think a new Biker Scout needs:

- A bigger helmet is a must, the existing one is too small. You know how I can tell? THE PICTURE ON THE CARD!!! It's right next to the figure, you can see it's a taller, slightly wider helmet, and it sits lower on the neck.

- He needs a specialized neck joint because of how high up his gaze goes compared to how low his torso goes on the bike. Really, he needs a smaller ball-joint inside his head, and then a second tilting joint at the neck.

- Then he needs specially-cut ball-hinged shoulders since he rides with his arms out in front of him and close together, the existing figure cannot really do this. The armor design allows for this, and it shouldn't affect the aesthetic of the figure.

- Perhaps he also needs up-and-down ball-hinged hands, but this is a luxury to the others. It'd make control-grips look better though.

- The torso joint needs to be redesigned, it's got poor range of motion and is unattractive when engaged, this either needs to be a rearranged ball joint (going down to up instead of up to down), or better yet, a ball joint above and below the stomach panel.

- The hip joints need to be ball-hinged, the bike is too wide for them to ride on any other way. Luckily again, this armor is designed to do that, so it wouldn't be as hard to add as a clone or stormie. The joints need to get past 90 degrees to look great.

- The knees need to bend past 90 degrees, this is pretty easy for a knee joint.

- The feet joints could use a little more up-and-down range, they're jointed but a tad limited.

Bottom line, we need a new Biker Scout figure, stat!

As per my Comic-Con interview with Derryl, these Vintage Collection cards are designed to be able to be collected unpunched if you're really, really lucky to get them before they're put out on pegs. The design includes 3 little tabs inside the punch to keep it in place without tearing the rest of the card face off when punched out.

That said, having seen these first hand, they are EXTREMELY fragile and some are showing up at stores with the punch having already fallen out before the case is opened. This makes unpunched cards pretty darn rare, but an exciting collectible.

Here in earthquake territory, I'm not even going to bother, but I applaud anybody who gives it a shot.

Not too many upsets after week 1 (the Jacksonville St. 2-pt conversion win was one, and Pitt intercepting itself in OT at Utahwas another :( ). Ohio State looks strong against We Were Marshall. Oregon pounds out a 72-0 drubbing, Alabama defends its title run by knowing the way to defeat San Jose. Youngstown State had lead versus Penn State, and actually scored two TDs and held them under 50. ;)
