I like him. Instead of the generic "thin" pilots, he adds a touch of "realism" to those reenactments and dioramas. I just managed to squeeze him into the cockpit of the XWing the other day for the first time, so all is well in the world. :)

I like it. He's great in dioramas and he is also a character who can really stick out as an individual.

The only think he's missing is doritos and chocolate doughnuts.

There never was an official explanation of why his ship exploded for no reason. I think it's because he spilled his Coke on the dashboard and shortcircuited the whole deal.

LOL he's okay. I would rather have had that guy that repeats "almost there" 50 times. He has a cool looking helmet too. O well better than nothing i guess.

That was Red Leader as played by Drew Hemley. We know what he looks like without his helmet since SE came out so I suppose we are in for yet another X-wing Pilot of some kind.

I like Porkins, though. Especially because he is fat.

Porkins is great. I wanted this figure for years before it was actually released. I would buy a figure of all the ANH pilots

He looks like how everyone on the forum describes the physical appearence of scalpers.

When I think of a scalper, my mind shoots immediately to the toy store guy, AL, in Toy Story 2. Fat, sweaty, gross, annoying and nothing better to do than turn toys into a false commodity.:crazed:

I remember a lot of people asking when they were going to make a Porkins figure before they finally released him. Also just about everyone had him on their "want" lists. I find it funny that now that he is here, a lot of people complain.

Also, since he is fat, he would not have as many wrinkles in his uniform because he is stretching it out more, unless they got him a nice baggy one.

Also, I am curious. Does everyone think I am a scalper just because I too am fat? I see more skinny scalpers than fat ones. I don't really care what people think of me one way or the other, but just because I am fat, doesn't make me a scalper. It also doesn't mean I am gross or sweat a lot either.

all scalpers here are skinny..I love my porkins figure compared to rebel trooper and commtech r2. Porkins compared to them makes him look like a masterpiece

Should I open my newly aquired Jek Porkins with K-3PO wave on the back of the card? Is it worth anything more? Because if so, I will trade it for something...

If I recall, Porkins was actually the product of a petition floating around for a very long time. So, in some ways, he was an unofficial fan favorite.

And Korn, it doesn't matter if your Jek is on a .00, .01, or .03 card. Just rip the dude out of his bubble and enjoy him.

Great figure! It took me forever to find him in my area. I finally tracked him down at a local KB.. I guess nobody wanted the poor guy since he was on a damaged card. Ah, thank goodness for bent cards!

Anyhoo... yes, I think he's an awesome figure. He definitely stands out from the rest of the rebel pilots.

Well this thread is discussing about my fanourite POTJ fig. I like Porkins because he's out of the norm good guys. He's fat and he's an X-Wing (read : sleak mean space fighter)... such a contrast. I have 2 of him, one on card and one freed :)
Talking about fat SW fig, I like almost all fat SW characters ie Malakili, the skiff driver guy (suddenly can't remember the name) on a FF card, Jabba the Hutt (tho I dun know if there's any thin alien of his species LOL!!) and of course - the Gamorrean guards :D

You know, I watching the THX version of ANH the other night and found something that was kind of goof. I'll post it here since it involves Porkins.

Porky was Red 6 and Luke was Red 5, right?

After Porkins bites the big one the TIEs come out and dogfight with Luke and Co.

At one point, Luke is being tailed and Red Leader or another pilot is trying to get help to him. He says "Red Six, can you see Red Five?" But, Porkins is already toasted.

Anyways, thought that was a nice SW goof.

I think he's ok, but I wonder why they chose him over other rebel pilots like Red Leader or Gold Leader.

Oddly enough, in real life the actor was wearing the same size suit as all the other rebel pilots in ANH, and they even had to slit it in the back so that it'd fit him! There was an article in the Insider a few years ago where William Hootkins (Porkins' real name) explained how embarrassed he was by this, and how he thought they might be making fun of his weight by naming his character Porkins! Hey...I wonder why nobody has complained that Lucas is predjudiced against overweight people? Just about every character in the saga that is overweight is one of the bad guys, and the one guy who's not is given a degrading name! ;)

:) [/B]

All of the scalpers I've had the displeasure of meeting have been of average build or thinner.

Viva La fat people! :D

There was a Porkins thread a long time ago that upset me. I find it quite annoying how easily some people are offended by one thing, but don't hesitate to make fun of fat people. The whole world is one giant double standard.

I paid 3 bucks for him on clearance at Wally-Mart. I think I overpaid! He needed an accessory or something to spice him up. A little too boring.

He did earn one distinction though. He was certainly the king pegwarmer for the entire POTJ line.

He was a bad pegwarmer, but I think there were worse. Such as Duros. I still trip over Duros every time I walk into a Wal-Mart. And now Zutton is a pretty big pegwarmer. FOde and Beed were pretty bad too.

Whilst reading most threads you people always refer to POTJ peg warmers ie porkins duros etc.how you see squillions then picked up some for pittance.

While poor old me in england never even saw a single POTJ fig in TRU so I've never encountered severely cut price figs (for instance $1.97 CT Stormie, not POTJ I know).

I'M JEALOUS AS HELL

I really needed to get that off my chest.
I like Porkins, I think he is a cool fig. One of the only figs in any line that would NOT benefit a resculpt.
They got ot right first time:)

I always wanted Jek made into an action figure, and Hasbro got it right when they finally did it. I never really thought about why I like him so much, but I guess its for the reason humsup mentioned above. Good observation!

He was fat and boring, no accessories and a huge Peg warmer.
Enough said.

I forgot how bad the Ketwol wave was for pegwarming, especially the Cloud City Guard. It was a pretty cool wave, especially with Duros kick but glam suit, but stores way overordered this wave. I remember Target had this wave for the longest time, and sale after sale couldn't get rid of it. I think the guard is the one last POTJ figure left in all my local area TRUs and KBs.

And speaking of Fode and Beed, I saw him, a Chewie Dejarik, and a Sandtrooper at a Wal-Mart over a year ago, back when I first started to collect POTJ. I had no clue who were the pegwarmers and who were the scarcer ones. I ended up buying the Fode and Beed :sur:. Since then I've found a Sandtrooper (like 6 months after) but no Chewie Dejarik. He's the only hole in my POTJ collection. I've regretted my decision ever since. Curse Fode and Beed!

I just thought I would be short and sweet. I didn't want to bash him too much cause I thought useless ( fat and boring ) was enough, besides no accessories; did we really need him instead of say Red Leader etc. Just thought he could have been better ( gun or something. )

I don't curse him at all since I only buy for fun, and don't really mind how common they are. It just makes 'em easier for me to find! Of course...I also know that too much of that kind of thing might kill the line...;)

Heh, well, I hated the character in the movie (fode and beed), as well as the crappy figure. I dunno, I guess I just hate it. Of course, being the sucker I am, I still bought one.

As far as Porkins, I love him. Great figure.

Well Lowly Bantha Cleaner, PORKINS is NEVER a "King of Pegwarmers" in this part of the word. The King - or should I say - Kings are :

1. Mechanic Jerk-Jerk Binks
2. Lando
3. Leia Bespin
4. Mechanic Chewbacca.

These 4 are the all time greats .... pegwarmers of all time here.

I thought he was a prety cool figure, especially since it was the first time he had been made. Glad to see HASBRO actually released someone other than a re-release of a main character.
