I didn't really know where to post this - because it could be a possible Episode III spoiler of sorts...

It has been said that Dooku left the Jedi after Qui-Gon died.

I skimmed through the Episode I DVD again last night and noticed someone walking away from Qui-Gon's funeral during the exterior shot just before the pyre and the mourners (Palpatine excluded, of course) are shown inside.

Whether it was supposed to be Dooku or another character, I don't know. But why would someone be leaving? (Maybe the guy with the book of matches?) That's where I made the connection that it might be Dooku.

Of course, I don't know if (or how much) George L. had developed Dooku at that point, nor do I know if this was added to the DVD after the theatre release, such as Orn Free Taa's twi'lek women were inserted during the Senate scene.

I mean, I'm not saying it's meant to be Dooku, but it's a possibility. For all I know Dooku might have been on another planet, maybe Hoth. He saw a Wampa's horn and that's where he got the idea for a curved lightsaber blade.

What does anyone else think?

Geez, even if it's not, GL could just "digi" him right in there, since he's already planning that w/ the OT.

It would be a cool thing, though if it were him. There should've kind of been some sort of mention of the character, IMO, to tie it all in.

Nah, Dooku was off camera in the Jedi Archives erasing the info about Kamino. :D

That would be cool, I doubt it is him though.

the character of count dooku wasn't finalized until way into pre-pro of AOC. in fact, they were tinkering with the idea of a female character to be the predecessor of darth maul, so i doubt it was meant to be a character that didn't even exist yet...

however, that doesn't mean you can't believe it is dooku...
