mine was 4/23! ah, what a gloriues day! we got a good portion. we missied 8 of them, but have all the figures out to date (1-35) now. i'd say my weirdest find was the orn free taa wave. they had them out 2 weeks before i thought they would! and there was on 4/23 when we got all of them, when a guy just sort of hung around the SW stuff while we piled everything into a cart. he keept looking at us like "what the hell are these idiots doing?"
memories that will last a lifetime. curtisy of hasbro and star wars.
whats your stories/story??

Putting like 30 or so items in lay-away 3 days after the E2 stuff came out and I think I scared the lay-away person that day. :D
So far I haven't had a whole lot of funny moments with Saga stuff since it hasn't been out for awhile, but I'm sure some will come up with. :D

Morning of 4/23. Walmart employee stocking huge bin with large balls. I was peeking over the pegs, and I found a Dooku at the very top. Go to grab it, and suddenly I hear a chain of "POP!".
Seems the guy was trying to squeeze a few more in, and about 10 just exploded. He was just standing there on the ladder, mouth slightly agape, customers coming to look.
So I just grabbed Mr. Joachi and left.

What's a Joachi?
I was at TRU the other day, bought a couple more Preview Clones (I have four now, need at least one more to round off a squad) and I asked the checkout guy about the posters they were giving away a couple weekends ago. He happened to be a fan and went and dug up two posters and a comic for me.
Not too funny but it was very nice of him to do so...

I don't know if this classified as funny or weird (my guess is sad) but I drove 50 miles plus today and all I scored was a Britney Spears Padme and Plo Koon. Wasted over 1/4 of my gas tank. I guess you would call those mercy purchases.

This is why I love Star Wars, toys and movies:
I had just come back from playing basketball and decided to stop at a Target. I noticed that there were a few kids looking at the display (this was at the beginning of May, I think, so they'd been out for awhile). Since I knew I wasn't the freshest of customers, I stayed at "my" end of the display. I found a Dooku and a Hanger Anakin, so I was pleased; Yoda was the only other fig and didn't yet have. I was content with two figures and was heading away. A little girl then shouted "Mom! I found Yoda!" I then started lookign again. Her mom said "That was probably the only one there," and then passed on to her daughter a story of her buying the original Yoda from when she was a little girl. I was disappointed I'd missed the Yoda, but happy that someone else was not just happy but estatic about it (she pointed out, "Mom, I saw it right here! Right here!" ). Sniff... brings a tear... ;)
Well at Toys R Us a cuple days ago these two littel kids, were looking for a yoda figure, and I was just browzing, and I thought to my self, poor littel guys won't find yoda,he's one of the rarest figs, well were I live, any way they looked and looked I felt bad for them till one said "all right tommy look" and pulled out two Yodas!! I nerly fanted, but when they asked there mom when she came back for them, she said no. so they had to put them back. Go figure I didn't have the money to get them.SO CLOSE.

This is not a "Funny" story but it reminds me of why I LOVE Star Wars and collecting the figs....I walked into TRU a couple of weeks back and browsed the big hanging section then walked over to the bin and saw Bespin Vader. I got so very excited but I wanted to find another to open because Vader is definitely one I want two of...anyhoo, this lil guy (about 11) came over to the bin and and we struck up a conversation about the movies and the figs and he saw that I had a vader and said how cool it looked...just then I had found that second vader I wanted and I couldn't just keep it, so I gave it to him to get and then we walked over to were the POTJ stuff still is, talking about star wars and such and he found himself a clone trooper and he really wanted both vader and clone trooper but only had enough to buy one so I said " you can't be without a vader" and he bought the clone trooper and I bought him the vader and I will never forget the look on his face...and THAT is what Star Wars is all about... reminds me of the innocence of kidhood, which seems so RARE today!

awesome!
mine would probably have to be waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, when I was around 14 or so. I had been hunting for Palpatine FOREVER, till I eventually found it at this really small local toystore. my heart jumped like a motha'. That and when I found Vader with removable helmet hidden behind a bunch of model car boxes. Toyfare, in their first issue, printed that he was out though it really came out about two years later, so when I found it I almost wet myself. GREAT figure too!
then the two midnight madnesses have been totally sweet- this years was great; I was the first in

Darth Detori,
I don't understand what you mean when you say that you found a FF Removable Helmet Vader 2 years befor it came out. That would mean you had to find it in 95 or 96. That's not really possible, since they were not makeing the FF at that time. Can you explain this a little more?

I guess this one is kinda funny.
One day I was a Wal-Mart and I was looking at the figures and spotted Jango and Padme background figures, well unfortunately I didn't have the money to get them or put them in lay-a-way so I decided to hide them. Now I planned on going back the next day but since the Wal-Mart was in the next town which was pretty far and I had a lack of transportation it took a couple weeks for me to finally be able to go back.
Well I finally got to go back there and I looked in the place I had hid the figures but unfortunately someone had grabbed them before I got to go back. I did find Kit Fisto and R2 background figures that day though. Now here's the interesting part. The next day I went to the local Wal-Mart to look for new figures but they didn't have any, but I did end up finding more Jango and Padme background figures! It was the only two they had also, so that was pretty cool.
Only background figures they had that I needed.

I found a GR Mace Windu at the bottom of the bin at TRU. Funny thing was it was surrounded by the numerous peg warmers and in GREAT condition.

Mine would have to be Midnight Madness as well.
Me and my friend Brian drove over slightly before midnight to check out the line in front of the Toys R' Us in Castleton, IN. The line stretched to the end of the building. It made me remember a similar night back in '99 where a friend named Shawn and I stood for about an hour waiting for Episode I figures. Back then the doors opened and everyone piled into this same store. It was a frenzy, but everyone got what they wanted in the end. This year there was much more going on.
The local Star Wars fan club known as Indyknights (www.indyknights.com) was on hand as hosts to the event. Our friend Cari (a General Cinema Clearwater Alumni) was dressed up as Princess Leia giving away posters to the crowd.
We said our hellos, then stood towards the back of the line. When the doors opened this time everyone strolled quickly to the star wars isle. You would have thought it was Christmas eve as people pulled figures from the rack like....hmmm..well perhaps "vultures" is too strong a word. While we were all there quietly waiting our turn you could feel a sense of urgency settle. You could hear everyone thinking in unison, "Damn, am I going to get the figures I want or not?"
Within minutes the rack was stripped clean. After the die-hard collectors left, the tireless TRU employees restocked the shelves. After that I picked my figures without any intrusion, we said our goodbyes and headed out.
Toys R' Us was fun, but it should be noted they didn't have all the new figures. A lot of people took off and scoured the city looking for all 30 figures and 15 variants. haha. A good time was had by all. And yes, I got my Yoda!
Here's the pics if anyone is interested

I remember going to a Wal-Mart on two consecutive days back in 99 before EP1 stuff had come out. The first day I found two dusty FF AT-ST drivers and the second day an extremely dusty FF Zuckuss. The price? $1.50 each. I guess it's also a good thing when stores clean out underneath their racks. I hadn't seen them before or since in any store.

People weren't sure how many new figures were out, but knew about the variants meaning those with background. The Toys R' Us had maybe 17 different kinds, but not all of the figures so people went to other places.
