Mace's ELECTRUM LIGHTSABER

Well watching at the TV spot I found that Mace's lightsaber is different from all the others jedis....All of them are made of crystal, but mace's is 'electrum':sur:

Does anyone know the difference between them? Is more powerful, more reliable....maybe the explanation it's in the novelization......

He's a Jedi master. It probably has multiple crystals, allowing for adjustable blade length.

My question is, why does Mace's saber make the sound of a Sith saber when he activates it?
