I removed the white 2 stud brick underneath the cockpit controls, then the yellow 4 stud brick under there, and there's enough room under there for both lightsaber handles, binoculars, and the blue lightsaber.

It also gives Obi-Wan a little more leg room.

Not a bad idea. I put the saber and binocs under the tail fin by removing either/both of the curved bricks that are technic-plugged into the aft section. I put the blade of the saber into that little fence plate behind Obi-Wan's head, it stays there perfectly.
