Updated Post
I know we have a large thread dedicated to Marvel Legends. Hell, I started it way back when. But I'm hoping that Staff won't mind if I make an off-shoot thread for just the Superhero Squad. After all, we have a whole section for the Star Wars Galactic Heroes. Also, major thanks to JT for deciding to put this in the GH section. ;)
Anyone else collecting this line? Other than the occassional X-Based Marvel Legend and the Marvel Figurine Collection, it's the only line that I've actually jumped in with both feet to collect them all. I just love these little guys, and the I'm trying to resist getting into the Star Wars version. Especially since they're finally doing Jar Jar. :D

Note: Some of the later unconfirmed listings have been culled from the Wal-Mart Computers. Anything listed in the Undetermined sections is subject to change. I'll update this list regularly if there's enough interest.
I've tried to use Hasbro's website for all links. But had to depend on BBTS and EE for some. And Marvelousnews.com for others. They're typically the most updated with pictures, even beyond Hasbro's own website. :)

Got the Fantastic Four series from Hasbro.Com with the 25% Off/Free Shipping Code.
The limited articulation of the figures, which I don't normally mind, suffers even more with this series. Thankfully it looks like that's not going to become a standard, since Series IV looks to have the stanadard articulation again. Not sure why they knocked it down in this series, whether it was due to sculptor prefrence, costing issues, or what.
Mr. Fantastic/Super Skrull - Reed only has two points of articulation at the shoulders. The stretching arms appear to be made out of a slightly softer plastic, so that they can be bent a bit. Not sure if by design, or simply due to the materials. Like the rest of the FF figures in the series, Reed is in his Ultimate Fantastic Four costume. The Super Skrull however is the real star of the set. Modeled after the character's 616 appearance, the clear flames and invisible foot are nice touches. Unfortunatly, the figure suffers from only having waist articulation.
Invisible Woman/Dr. Doom - Frankly, I have to say that this is the least "fun" of the four sets that were released. Much like Wasp, Sue has no articulation what so ever. However she's nicely sculpted and the quasi-invisible feet are a nice touch. You might want to be careful when picking her out... paint overspray can be a bit heavy and ruin the phasing effect. Though I hear that can be fixed. Dr. Doom is a really nice figure, but due to the cloak only features arm articulation. He thankfully is based off the character's 616 appearance.
The Thing/Namor - A really nice set, but it suffers from a lot of problems. The biggest one being that both Thing and Namor feature almost no articulation what so ever. Both of them each get just a fairly pointless waist joint. Also, Ben's rocky hide is colored a light yellow-orange instead of the more accurate orange. Thankfully the articulation and coloring seems to be better on the Thing that comes with Mole Man next wave. Not a big fan that Hasbro went with Namor's black costume over his green fishscale speedo though.
Human Torch/Silver Surfer - When it comes to articulation, this is the worst set of the bunch. Since neither of them have even one joint. However, I give it much higher marks because the figures are great. Johnny Storm has some really cool clear flames for a base and coming off his head and hands. And the Silver Surfer just is a really nice looking figure. I'm a bit disappointed that he wasn't Vac Metal like the Prototype, but he's still nice and shiny.

Spidey's probably a safe bet since it's got a big summer movie going right now, it's a bread-and-butter line in that way.
The playset is a cute idea but seems kinda small.

Black Cat is awesome, and I can't remember the last version of her that hasn't been pornstar proportioned.
Mysterio looks good except he's dinky!
I don't even know who Puma is but he looks lame.
Venom with mouth closed looks even sillier, the tongue sticking out the side is a chuckle.

I just wish they'd quit packing Spider-Man with everyone. It's a bit annoying after you've gotten a few sets of these to have a half dozen+ Spider-Man figures. It would be ok if they could do different comic costumes, but since they seem to still be basing the line on Spider-Man 3 and the video games... we keep getting new poses of the movie Spidey. Hell, do a few more Black Costume versions, since the only one in SHS so far is in wall-crawl pose.
As for Puma: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puma_%28comics%29

It looks like Series V and VI were on display going by the above info.

Honestly as much as I love the idea of Flocked Beast, I wish they'd packed someone else with Apocalypse and saved the Beast for an X-Men boxset. Archangel would have been cool and more logical choice. Since Beast wasn't even furry or in the speedo costume the first time Apocalypse debuted in the comics.
Not that he hasn't faced Apocalypse at all like that, but he seems like something of a random inclusion. At least in comparison to the other 3 Mega Packs. Most likely he was the cheapest and funnest 'Redo' in order to keep costs down since the Ult. Iron Man figure who comes with Ult. Giant Man is an all new sculpt.

Still no sign of Mega-Packs or Wave 4 though....

Nice haul, Tchalla8. And welcome to the forums. How's the playset? I guess you're eagerly anticipating the Black Panther/Storm 2-Pack that's coming up. ;)
From what I'm hearing elsewhere... someone just found the basic series Wave IV at Wal-Mart in their area. So hopefully it will start turning up. I'd be happy enough with it showing up for sale on Hasbro's website. That's where I got Wave III.

And yes, I've had BP and Storm on my radar for quite a while now..LOL
The playset is nice. Wish we weren't dealing with so many repaints again. Same story on the Collector's Box. More repaints, although having US Agent, Classic DD and War Machine is still pretty cool
Down with repaints!!! LOL

At least most of the repaints make sense. So I don't mind them too much.
I'd rather have them issue a repaint boxset than do running changes in the figures.
Especially since usually that ends up leaving one of the variants hard to find. :)

Speaking of variants. You have to wonder when there going to start inserting "chase" figures into this line. Surprised they haven't already.

I don't think they want to go down that road for Superhero Squad.
The only reason they kept it for ML, was because it was frankly expected.

You think the Sandman/Venom pack is lousy? I actually really like it myself.I think Sandman looks ridiculous in the face, and I don't care for Venom's hunchback or that Venom tongue again, that seems really played out to me.
I suspect they know the Spidey line wouldn't be able to support a single chase figure there, too many Spidey variants already as it is, fans would be really annoyed. As for the Marvel line, it looks like they know they can use repaints and slight changes to get buyers to pick up box sets so I don't see them pulling that ML stuff any time soon. Heck, I think SHS may be the only Hasbro Marvel line not underperforming, it'd be unwise to mine those waters.

Wal-Mart indeed seems to be the place to go for the Spider-Man SHS Series III. I found multiples of Green Goblin/New Goblin, Spider-Man/Lizard, and Spider-Man/Scorpion there today. All of them are great, especially Lizard. Though whoever was in charge of painting Scorpions in the factory is really sloppy with their work. They seem to be the one figure in the series with consistant paint issues. Nothing too serious, but make sure you spend extra time checking him over.

That would be kind of neat. It would be a new concept for these lines.
They could do the same with characters like Anakin, Obi-Wan, Luke, etc. in GH.

Annihilus & Human Torch - Love Annihilus. Even if we are getting yet another HT.
Storm & Black Panther - My favorite set of the group. Love the Giant Size Storm. :)
Wolverine & Weapon X Cycle - Cool. Though I wish he had a jacket and cowboy hat.
Ult. Captain America & Ult. Nick Fury - I like the Cap. Not a big fan of Fury's face.
Edit: On second thought. I really like how Wolverine looks in the tank top.

Human Torch is awesome, I love that they did it that way, half-ignited.
Storm is so funny, a little, half-nude, prancing action figure.
Wolverine works, but the cycle's paint isn't tight enough, looks like leopard spots.
Ultimates Cap & Nick are ok, both have oddness though. Not digging how they did Cap's pants crotch with all that gray, and Fury's eye is painted WAY off to the side.
Beast
09-12-2007, 07:12 PM
Cap's costume looks like that in the Ultimates though.
But yeah, Fury's eye is wonky. I thought it was the placement of the eyepatch at first. But as you and others have noted, the eye is painted way off center.

Ant-Man/Dr. Strange - Yay! More Avengers. Now make Wonder Man and Ms. Marvel.
Gambit / Rogue - Nice set. I love the costume choice for Rogue. And Gambit is cool.
Loki / Lord Thor - I'm glad they chose a real different costume for the new Thor.
Pyro / Iceman - Pyro looks cute. I really like how Iceman turned out in this series.

SPIDER-MAN/HOBGOBLIN 65356931764
WOLVERINE/THE H 65356931766 - (The Hulk, I'd Assume.)
Cool to see Scarlet Spider-Man in the line. Hopefully we get a 616 Green Goblin soon also, since they're doing Hobgoblin already. And please, for the love of god Hasbro... do the Spider-Man figures in different costume variants.
Ares adds another Mighty Avenger to the set. And the new Thor costume is popular, given it's also getting a figure in the Marvel Select line. Hopefully the Wolverine and Hulk is First Appearance Wolverine. Another Hulk though, feh.

Finally got some possible information about this. It's apperantly going to be the 2nd Superhero Squad Collector's Pack. At least going by the Product Description that Hasbro sent to Amazon.Com about the 1st Collector's Pack.
Collectible box features eight original stylized character figures. With a lid and a handle, this fun crew of super heroes can easily be toted for play of sit on a shelf for display! Includes Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, Juggernaut, Shadowcat, Professor X, Cyclops, Wolverine and Iceman figures. Spring into adventure with the world's greatest collection of Super Heroes. The mightiest Marvel heroes are ready to save the day with their amazing abilities and super powers. Join the battle with the Marvel Super Hero Squad!
Very interesting that the 2nd Boxset is going to feature so many new figures. Especially when the 1st Boxset was all repaints. It looks like...
Professor X, Shadowcat, and Cyclops - All New.
First Appearance Iceman - Retooled (Boots Sculpted On.)
Silver Surfer, Juggernaut, Spider-Man, Wolverine - Repaints.

Like was shown at SDCC, the boxset is just a repackaging of several Series I figures.
Spider-Man - From the Spider-Man/Green Goblin Pack
New Goblin
Sandman
Venom
The only so-called "New" figure in the set is the Black Costume Spider-Man from the Spider-Man/Sandman pack, this time done in black chrome.

Hmm? Because he didn't have the Black Costume anymore at this point in the movie?
Or just annoyed at having to buy the whole set to get the "New" figure?
By the way... finally found the Superhero Squad Collector's Pack at Meijers. Really nice set, well worth the $19.99. All of the repaint are perfect ideas, save the Hulk. I can't believe that Toys R Us has the nerve to try to charge $29.99 for it.

Both, that's bunk. And it's such a real loser of a "new" figure.
I found all the new Spider-Man Wave 4 figures at a Target in Grafton, WI while I was on my way to Green Bay last weekend and they're pretty good. I just wish the repainted black venom had white eyes and venom symbol because that dark gray color hardly shows up. Also, the Spider-Man figures in this wave are better quality versions of the figure from the playset and one of the vehicle sets.
The only ones I'm missing now are the regular Marvel Super Hero Squad Wave 4 figures. I've been to Targets, Wal-Marts, and TRUs all over the place since the first sightings and I can't find them anywhere...

Welcome to the site, Cash. Nice to see another fan of Superhero Squad around here.
Yeah, Superhero Squad Wave 4 seems to be a bit of a bugger to get. I'm still missing Nightcrawler/Juggernaut myself. Hopefully I can snag him soon.
The Apocalypse/Flocked Beast and Ultimate Giant Man/Ultimate Iron Man Mega-Packs went up for sale at Hasbro Toy Shop the other day, but quickly sold out. So they should be showing up in stores soon. Hopefully. Heh. :)
Yeah, I saw that on the official site since I've been checking for wave 4 pretty much every day. The new mega packs were gone in like a day, but hopefully we'll be seeing them pretty soon in stores.
Thanks for the welcome btw.

Found all three of the new Spider-Man Superhero Squad sets today.
Spider-Man/Black Cat - As Cash said, the Spider-Man from the set is the same one from the Battle Truck vehicle. So at least I can skip buying that thing. Hopefully they'll recard the other one as well. Black Cat is a really nice figure though. Sadly the best looking Black Cat figure yet. She's lithe like Wasp, but can stand better cause of a better design. She has two points of articulation, her arms.
Spider-Man/Mysterio -This is the Spider-Man from the Bank Heist Playset. So I guess I only need the Shirtless/Green Coated Doc Ock from that set. Mysterio's a great little figure, for a guy with a fishbowl on his head. He has three points of articulation (Waist and Arms), that are sadly hindered a bit by his cape. But still, great figure.
Venom/Puma - Like Cash said, I wish they would have released the Venom that's shown on the back of the cards. I'm sure we'll see it eventually though. Otherwise, it's a decent repaint of the movie Venom. Puma's the star of the set though. Nice detail on the fur. Even though he only has 2 points of articulation, his arms.

The new Hasbro Superhero Squad Wallpaper they put up makes me hopeful that they retool/repaint the Sentinel and re-issue him again later on. Maybe with a different pack-in. Because I love the brighter 'Classic' Sentinels they have featured. :)

Actually, the paint scheme on those sentinels does look pretty cool. The way they have them displayed with all these other upcoming figures makes me think we might see these somewhere down the line. I wonder how they're going to repackage those or if they even have plans to release them at all...
How did you find this wallpaper, btw? I could only find Marvel Legends Wallpapers on the hasbro site.

It looks like the new upper chest design is actually just a new piece, placed over the old chest piece. And then of course being held on by the new head. No clue otherwise, though I'll certainly be including that in my next Q&A questions to Hasbro.
Someone else found it, and I just thought I'd pass it on. So I'm not sure. :D

From a few pages back:
BEN REILLY/SPIDER-MAN 65356931763
NEW THOR/ARES 65356931765
SPIDER-MAN/HOBGOBLIN 65356931764
WOLVERINE/THE H 65356931766 - (The Hulk, I'd Assume.)
Wave 4 is being something of a pain to get here also. I still need to find Nightcrawler/Juggernaut. Thankfully they'll be including that set and Phoenix/Wolverine in the next case Assortment. Doesn't help with those still looking for Beast/Iceman or Thing/Mole Man. Hopefully Hasbro Toy Shop will restock soon.
Oh, and the Spider-Man Sand Pit 5-Pack that was mentioned a few pages ago is now showing up at Wal-Mart stores. Even though the packaging clearly is marked 'Toys R Us Exclusive'. So maybe they passed on it at the the last minute, and Wal-Mart picked them up instead. No clue otherwise. Some Wal-Marts are putting a Wal-Mart sticker over the label, some are leaving it as is. Happy Hunting! :)

I think Hulk or something related to Department H would be far more kid-friendly than the Hood.
They've already made The Punisher, who kills people. And there's Deadpool as well, who doesn't follow the usual Hero rules. The Hood wouldn't surprise me.
Especially since they're mining current stories, what with New Thor and Ares.
I'm thinking "The H" is going to be another Hulk figure after all just based on some of the new character art from the new site (http://www.hasbro.com/marvel/superherosquad/) (tattered shirt and shorts).
Also, I'm getting a lot of insight into possible new figures from the "Games and Activities (http://hasbro.com/marvel/superherosquad/default.cfm?page=Entertainment/games)" section of the new site.
New Comic Book Style Doc Ock:
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/5955/docock2az5.png
The SHS game uses images of actual figures for the heroes and villains and this new Doc Ock figure was among them. It goes along with the comic book style Doc Ock character art we've seen both on this site and on the Collector's Pack packaging.
Speaking of character art, the puzzles section has 3 interesting images for their puzzles...
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/213/shspuz1in2.png
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4174/shspuz2qk6.png

The first has Iron Man fighting some kind of dragon thing that I'm not familiar with (anyone?). Possible new Mega Pack.
The second has AXM Cyclops and Wolverine without his mask fighting those new Sentinels from that wallpaper Beast posted a while ago.
The third is the most interesting. It features art for the new doc ock figure I posted, the new hulk artwork from the main page, what seems to be a comic book version of black spidey and another female character I'm not familiar with (again, anyone?) that would be a completely new figure.

That's Fin Fang Foom. And he's likely for a Mega Pack next year.
The second has AXM Cyclops and Wolverine without his mask fighting those new Sentinels from that wallpaper Beast posted a while ago.
The AXM Cyclops is coming in the next Collector's Pack that was mentioned a while ago. Which will also contain the Xavier from the desktop image. Which only gives me more hope that they will release that modified/repainted Sentinel.

That's Spider-Woman. She's coming with a new Hulk late this year or next. The one you noted earlier. And a Comic Black Costume Spider-Man is listed as coming with a Comic Doc Ock around the same time. Can't wait for Toy Fair. :)
That's the first i've heard of this Fin Fang Foom guy and I just looked him up on Wiki, but I don't know how I didn't recognize Spider-Woman... Thanks :)
Anyway, what did you guys think about the pic of the new Doc Ock figure? I really dig the comic book version and the way he supports himself with his tentacles. Very cool...

I hope that's how he looks when he's released. At least we're getting close to having most of the major Spidey villains represented. Including some obscure ones, like Puma. Now we need Electro, Shocker, The Spot, Man-Wolf, etc.
Where did the listings from those unknown releases come from. Did they all come from the Wal-Mart computer system?
Yep. Of course, things can change before final release. After all, the Venom/Puma pack changed twice. It was originally Spider-Man/Puma. And then there was a different 'New' version of Venom, before we got the straight repaint.

^.^ - What did that even have to do with this thread?
Anyway, thought I'd toss a mini-review up of Apocalypse and Ult. Giant Man.
Apocalypse w/ Fuzzy Beast Mega-Pack (Wave 2):
While the Sentinel is my favorite Mega-Pack so far, Apocalypse is a close second. He's shorter than the other Mega-Packs, but this is more due to his hunched posture. The sculpt is fairly comic accurate, though like all the SHS figures Apocalypse has a goofy smile on his face. A huge improvement has been made to the series 2 Mega-Packs, the addition of ball jointed shoulders. It's slightly hindered on Apocalypse however, due to his shoulder armor. En Sabah Nur has a total of 8 points of articulation. His Head, Ball-Jointed Shoulders, Wrists, and Waist. A great figure.
Beast himself is great. Though Archangel/Death would have made more sense. Hopefully we'll see him with a normal sized Apocalypse. Hank's the same figure as the one from the basic 2-Pack with Iceman from SHS Wave 4. This time though, he's been flocked and now has a fun fuzzy appearance and feel. Not to mention his eyes are much improved, and arn't the huge anime versions they were on the first version. All around, a better figure. He has the same 3 POA. His Waist and Arms.
Ultimate Giant Man w/ Ultimate Iron Man Mega-Pack (Wave 2):
A lot of people have been complaining about Ultimate characters showing up in this line. Honestly, I don't have any major complaints. Especially when we're talking about characters that have multiple versions that can be made. That said, I hope they don't go overboard here just to avoid a lot of complaining. One or two sets mixed in with the normal stuff is the best idea. Especially when kids will be familiar with the costumes and versions of the characters from Ultimate Avengers.
Ultimate Giant Man like Apocalypse also features the new added articulation at the shoulders. Thankfully here it's not hampered by the shoulders. He's accurate to his Ultimate appearance, though that's something of a detracting point considering the Ultimate costume is pretty boring. Kids who liked Ultimate Avengers will be happy with both figures. Though hopefully we'll get a 616 Giant Man in the next year of two. Hank Pym has 7 POA. His head, Ball-Jointed Shoulders, and Legs. The legs are pretty pointless, so it's a shame they weren't left off for wrist articulation instead.
Ultimate Iron Man is the first totally new figure included in the Mega-Packs so far. He's also a pretty good figure, and makes up for the boring design of Ultimate Pym's outfit. He's accurate to his comic look in both apperance and color, and is probably the best Iron Man figure in the line so far. We'll see what next year has in store with the Iron Man movie. Ultimate Iron Man has 4 POA. His Head, Arms, and Waist.

Captain America, Hulk, and two different Spider-Mans. Cool for the carded collectors.
http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=11228
Also, in regard to the Venom pictured on the cards originally for the Venom/Puma Pack. In the latest Hasbro Podcast with Marvelousnews, they noted that it was dropped due to being out of scale for the line. Since Venom is a larger character. Hopefully they'll retool him larger for release next year. :)
It looks like they're all re-releases, though I think it is remotely possible that Easter Hulk has a little bit of a more pastel paint scheme than the original version. Probably just the lighting in the photo though... I don't keep mine carded so it looks like I won't have to pick these up.
I finally got all of wave 4 today (I've been waiting for months) along with all of waves 5 and 6 from Hasbro! There are a lot of excellent figures in these waves. I'm really excited about this line as it just seems to keep getting better and better.

i like the look of them. Hasbro not really made much of an effort with the punisher/spidey pack, but the new colossus looks brilliant
Anyone interested in the newest Spidey wave should keep their eyes open at their local Wal-Mart. I found the new Spidey/Vulture and Venom/Sandman 2 packs there yesterday. They were with a bunch of other spidey 2-packs from various waves in holiday style display boxes. Each holiday box (there were 2) had (among other figures) one Spidey/Vulture and two Venom/Sandman packs. The two boxes on display were identical in terms of figure content and neither of them had Kraven...
Also, I'm wondering what Astonishing Cyclops being carded with Sentinel 2.0 means for the second collector's pack... Will we be seeing Kitty and the professor turn up somewhere else perhaps?
In any case, it looks like the 2008 packaging will be blue for the regular marvel line if those pics mean anything...
Beast
12-05-2007, 09:41 AM
Yeah, it seems the new Wal-Mart holiday cases are a mis-mash of various waves. And also have a lot of Logan/Bike sets. And that the SHS one is missing Gambit/Rogue and the Spider-Man one is missing Spidey/Kraven. Sorta sucks, which means we have to wait for regular cases to trickle into the stores for them to show up.
I think we'll likely still see Cyclops in the second collectors pack. Maybe they'll give him a different head or something. A hoodless version would be great. Similar to the maskless version of Wolverine from the first Sentinel Mega-Pack.
I really like the more 'Fun' kid-friendly looking blue packaging for 2008. I hope the fact they're doing 4-Packs doesn't mean that's what the new format for the line is going to be however. I liked the 2-Packs that we've been getting. At least with the X-Men set we're getting something new. The Spidey set is all repaints.

The Spider-Man line didn't really do that badly. Especially the later "Comic" packs.
Plus much like with Fantastic Four, they're going with a Comic Line with the movie.

And no, Kraven isn't shipping yet. What you're seeing is the Wal-Mart Holiday End Cap displays for Spider-Man Superhero Squad. They're a mix of various previous waves. It contains Spidey/Vulture and Venom/Sandman, but no Spidey/Kraven. We probably won't see Spidey/Kraven until the regular cases start showing up.
Same thing is happening with the regular Superhero Squad. The Holiday End Cap displays contain a bunch of figures, including refreshes of some HTF ones, such as Phoenix/Wolverine, Nightcrawler/Juggernaut, and Mole Man/Thing. Sadly no Beast/Iceman. Oh, I know. They showed up in the regular cases. But they weren't included in the End Cap/Refresher Cases. Likely because they packaged Fuzzy Beast w/ Apocalypse and a new Iceman with Pyro. But I still want an extra pack of the original version.
Here's the thing about the Iceman/Beast set dropping off the map: While I might think it's cool to have a Bobbby Drake figure (I'm 33 for the record), my son thinks of that figure as "The Guy," not as Iceman (he's 3). He has the same opinion of the Johnny Storm versions of the Human Torch.
I really hope Hasbro keeps their eye on the ball and remembers that these lines (GH/SHS/RH) are for kids, not collectors. Collectors should really be a secondary consideration regarding these lines.

Welcome to the 'Addicts to Superhero Squad Club', Skystreak. Are you getting them just for your son, or are you enjoying them also? And don't worry about being 33. I'm 31 by the way. And I love these bloody things. Hell, I'm handling a checklist after all. Yeah, I see your point about how kids see the de-iced and de-flamed Bobby and Johnny figures. Not to mention I prefer the fully iced Bobby and flaming Johnny.
Well, Entertainment Earth has Wave 4 shipping again in Jan '08. So it looks like Hasbro's going to try to get some of the HTF ones out there during the dead time of retail between X-Mas and Toy Fair. Plus I'm sure much like Star Wars ones, we'll see older sets rotated through on occasion. Or at least repacks like the TRU exclusives. And there's a retooled/repaint of the Iceman in the next Collectors Pack.

you guys are lucky.
the only super hero squad stuff we get here in the uk (in regular toy shops) is some of the older spidey waves (and a few galactic heroes and robot heroes).
it's not cool. And getting the x-men and marvel ones costs a fortune.
my only real source is getting my aunt (who lives in florida) to find them and send them over.

pretty much mate. Postage is getting more expensive though.
when i bought a set here it cost me £6.99. Thats about $13-14.
U guys get them in wal-mart for $6 or so (£3).
the spidey ones are cheaper, but still alot more than u pay.
I'm lucky, as my aunt lives in florida so she gets hold of some of the stuff for me. But i have no figures past wave3.
just hoping the iron man and indiana jones adventure heroes are widely available here. :whip:
Yeah, I started to get worried that they wouldn't re-release the original beast/iceman figures so I caved and had to pay a lot of money for them from a third party online source before the price went up even higher. I hope for your sake that Hasbro re-releases wave 4 in January, but unless that happens good luck finding them at anywhere near a decent price :).
BTW, Thanks for keeping us updated Beast. I pretty much come here for all my SHS news so I want you to know that I appreciate it...

You guys are welcome. I just wish we'd get some early news for '08. Looks like we'll have to wait for Toy Fair for any big updates though. Though maybe we'll get some updates on what we've already seen (Fin Fang Foom, etc.) before then.
Also, found Spidey/Vulture and Sandman/Venom at Wal-Mart today. And came home to Gambit/Rogue waiting for me. So other than the elusive Kraven who I don't think is shipping as of yet, I'm caught up thanks to Hasbro Toy Shop and Wal-Mart.

Hello everyone. I would also like to thank Beast for all his information. I too have all of the superhero squad's except for Kraven. Its amazing how into these things my 3 year old son is. i have all of them set up on my computer desk and everyday he makes me go over the names with him. He amazingly knows all but three. He even knows the real names of the duplicates (ex. he says Iceman then Bobby Drake) . Well anyway I was wondering if anyone has heard of when we could be seeing the collectors pack with Professor X and Shadowcat. I saw some pics of them a while back, but have not heard when to expect them. Thanks

I have no clue when the new Collectors Pack is going to hit. One of Hasbro's recent podcasts with Marvelous News said it would be out before the end of the year. That doesn't appear to be the case anymore. So I'm not sure what's up with it. I hope it hits soon. I've been wanting the new and repaint figures for my displays.

Does your Gambit look like he's being played by George Hamilton? lol
I'm hoping they'll do a running change to fix Gambit's skintone.

i'm loving the look of alot of the x-men. Quite a few in the costumes they had in the mid 90s cartoon i watched as a kid.

I went to my local Wal-Mart today and I was shocked to see that Marvel Super Hero Squad and Spider-Man Super Hero Squad were both on Clearance!... I have no idea if this is just some Wal-Marts or all of them chain-wide, but it seriously worries me about the future of this line if the biggest retailer isn't going to be carrying them anymore... :(
Or maybe they're just making room for the new ones because they have different packaging? I'm not sure either way, but anyone looking to get a few figures for a little bit cheaper might want to check it out just in case SHS goes clearance at a store near you...
Beast
12-27-2007, 11:33 AM
There's nothing to worry about. SHS is a big success. Most stores have clearance sales right after Christmas, because people are coming in with Gift Cards. It's an insentive for people to buy more, for a couple reasons. There's really three reasons for these clearance sales. None of them are really due to poor sales.
Stores are trying to sell out as much taxable product as possible before January 1st, so they don't have to pay taxes on the inventory. So it's primarily that, in addition to clearing out old backstock so they have shelf space for the new stuff that will be coming in. As well as having empty shelves makes resetting the aisles easier.
JediTricks
12-27-2007, 04:02 PM
WM clearances generally aren't chain-wide, they do clearance differently, the managers have a weekly "clearance budget" and can put that against ANY toy they have in store, it's up to them what gets clearanced and for how much off. I once got a brand-new-release Justice League Superman 10" figure that every other store and chain had for $25 for just $4.88 even though it was the first time I had seen it on shelves because the manager decided it had to go for some reason.

According to Cool Toy Review, there's going to be a Hulk focused line in '08. Makes sense with the movie. Much like we're getting the Iron Man wave in conjunction with that movie. So far it looks like there will be four sets, much like Iron Man.
Hulk & Abomination
Planet Hulk & Silver Savage (Silver Surfer)
World War Hulk & Iron Man
The 4th set will feature Hulk as well, but the other character is undetermined.

Hulk/Spiderwoman: Big Yes!
Cable Capt. America: Meh
Classic Doc Ock/Black Spidey: I will fight for the last one I want it so bad.
Deadpool/Punisher: Yeah., but not crazy dying for it.
Daredevil/Spidey: Unless this DD looks significantly better than the original, I doubt it.
Wolverine/Psylocke: Not sure. More X-Men is good, but did she have to be packed with another Wolverine.
Venom/Spidey: I feel the same way about this one as I do of DD/Spidey and Wolvie/Psylocke...
Ghost Rider/Hellcycle: A solid yes, but not insane about it. I'm hoping that this is a sign that the guy who released the original without a motorcyle lost his job. Seriously? GR without a motorcycle? What's that about?

cable/cap and punisher/deadpool are must haves for me.
i really like the new daredevil sculpt too. but more spidey is a big annoying (we could have had a kingpin)
that wish list keeps growing........
I'm not a big fan of the cap/punisher hybrid costume and they should have packaged cable and deadpool together, but other than that, I really dig wave 7. Wave 8 looks like a big disappointment - the only new character is Psylocke (at least this latest attempt at Venom looks good).
Also, it would appear that the Spider-Man line is no more in 2008 and has been essentially merged with the regular SHS line. I wonder if that will make it hard to find Kraven when he finally ships...

bert19

beast is right about them being in separate packs. they'll make twice as much money on the two figures.
i'm with rocket boy about the punisher in captain america costume. I'll buy it as he's prob my favourite marvel character, but they could have done it so much better.
Given the sheer number of weapons he's used, they could make loads of variations of him with different guns and even with costumes like his trenchcoat.
I'm also presuming they won't do a line to tie-in with the 2nd punisher movie. Not really kid-friendly viewing content
El Chuxter
01-02-2008, 12:12 PM
Why the hell would they do that snigtarded Captain Punisher costume? Why didn't we get all the real heavy hitters first, like Rocket Racoon, Sleepwalker, Stegron, Boom Boom, and Aunt May?
What's the concern about making these kid-friendly? Obviously they're more based on comics that aren't (World War Hulk, Brain-Damaged Punisher Impostor War Journal) than classics that are.

I found the new 4 packs at my local Wal-Mart this morning
Thought the following was interesting to note:
1: The back of the X-Men set shows Colossus holding Wolverine and has a yellow box that says "Get Ready For The Fastball Special!" Indeed, the Colossus figure's left hand is shaped in a way that he can Grip onto Wolverine so the actual figures can be posed for this classic move.
2: Despite seemingly being designed from the same concept, the Wolverine sculpt from this set is actually completely different from the one that was packaged with Phoenix in wave 4. From the initial images, I had thought that only the belt was different, but in reality not one part of the wave 4 sculpt was reused.
The head is different and has a different facial expression.
The Torso is more defined and the pivot point at the waist is above the belt rather than below it.
The new figure's arms are bent completely differently which makes for very different poses from wave 4 Wolverine.
The new figure hunches forward a bit more over his bent knee. The right foot comes out much further than the left (whereas the old figure's left foot actually came out quite a bit more than the right)3: Ghost Rider's Flames aren't very transluscent at all. At least not in the two packages sitting on the shelf. It actually almost looks like a botched paint job, but both of the ones I saw appeared to be the same way. Small parts of the flame look like they should be see-through, but not all the way from front to back because all-in-all the flame has a solid non-transluscent orange color. Weird...
4: Speaking of Ghost Rider, they put a lot more effort into painting the silver studs, buckles, and other costume details on his repaint here. Elektra's face is also significantly improved.
5: Each set comes with a different poster (same figures on the back, already posted). One has Iron Man and Fin Fang Foom while the other has the new Sentinel with Cyclops and Wolverine. They're actually pretty big considering the size of the packaging (approx 10" tall and 16" wide).
That's about it. Keep an eye out for 'em. :lipsrsealed:
I just noticed that Entertainment Earth has removed their listing for Spider-Man Wave 5 all-together...
Does this mean that it won't be released as a normal wave now?
If so, that would make the Spider-man/Vulture and Venom/Sandman 2-Packs Wal-Mart exclusives I think...
I hope this isn't the case, though. I really wanted Kraven.

The X-men's Blackbird Jet + Hanger
The Danger Room

seems like when the 4packs come out, we will be getting one craptastic pack, and a fantastic pack
Fight in New York- Punisher, Spidey, Ghost Rider, Elektra. all repaints, and not very good oens
Showdown with Magento- Colossus, Magneto, Emma, Wolverine. All new sculpts
new sets
Attack of Juggernaut- Wolverine, Juggernaut, Nightcrawler, Gambit. all 4 just repaints
Avengers Assemble -Cap, Vision, Marvel, Iron Spider. 3 New Sculpts, metallic Cap
Beast

Like I said elsewhere... Hasbro costs everything out by wave, not by each figure. So they balanced the cost of the 4* new sculpts, by doing 4 repaints in the other set. I think that will likely be common in the other upcoming 4-Pack sets. Which doesn't bug me, as I thought the Spider-Man pack was pretty good for what it was. Not to mention, I love the 'Bamfing' Nightcrawler and corrected Gambit.
* - I'm betting the Cap sculpt was originally created for the boxset. And then was re-used for the pack with Cable. Instead of the other way around.

the changes on the ghost rider are almost non existant. the punishers costume is black instead of the original navy brown. Ive got enough spidermans. The Elektra was pretty nice to have in white though. just need the black uni now.

Punisher's white gloves, boots, and skull are all gloss white also. As for Ghost Rider, the flames are clear instead of painted. And they detailed the buckles, straps, and such. As for the Spider-Man, it's the comic version at least. We've only gotten two comic versions of Spider-Man. One in the Collector's Pack and one here. :)
Well, there's a few other changes. Such as Gambit's staff and card being 'charged'. ;)

Hulk & Abomination
Planet Hulk & Silver Savage (Silver Surfer)
World War Hulk & Iron Man
The 4th set will feature Hulk as well, but the other character is undetermined.

A teeny tiny thumbnail picture of these sets have turned up.
But heck if I can figure out what the 4th set is. :D
Edit: Blew it up a bit. But can't get it much bigger without making it more blurry.

that new ghost rider is very probably my favourite figure from this line so far.
the spiderman/daredevil set looks wicked and i really like the new wolverine (yet another one).
cable/captain america i quite like, altho cable's metal arm is a bit wimpy.
deadpool looks awesome but the new punisher is a bit of a dissappointment

There are two sets with the Emma Frost's in them at my Wal-Mart if anybody is interested in me picking them up. I need a Beast / Iceman and a Gambit / Rogue. I also have access to several Apocalypse and Beast Mega-Packs. Let me know if you are interested and we can talk about it.

Sasquatch?
I wish but it looks like Abomination. When is Alpha flight gonna get some love?! I know they're really obscure, but how many Wolverines and Caps are they gonna do before they start to stretch out? And I HATE the way they pack a Spidey into every pack. I have no fewer than 9 Spidermen, most of them in ridiculous poses.

I know I never saw one. And it's a real bummer too because that Iceman is about 100 times cooler than the iced-up Bobby Drake that came with Pyro. Hasbro seems to have blown it again.

Just wait, he'll show up again. Hasbro won't waste the opportunity to make more money off this sculpt when they can clearly see the desire for it.
I just hope I can get the clear version, but I suspect there will be a "snow" version of it instead.
You CAN get this figure, but I've seen it going for $20+ on eBay. So only if you are willing to pay through the nose for it right now will you get it.
Have patience.

I got the ice-slide-ridin' Iceman/Beast right when it shipped out.
I usually just troll BBTS and general toy release info every other week to see what is coming out and then preoder it as soon as it shows up . . .
It's a lot cheaper and a lot less work that way. :)

Very cool.
Some thoughts:
Hobgoblin looks a little bit too... friendly. I understand and appreciate the way the line tends to put smiles on the faces of even the worst of villains, but Hobgoblin looks a little bit too cuddley.
Ghost Riders motorcycle is a reworked/repainted version of Wolverine's Weapon X Cycle. I think he looks good on it.
I didn't think I would until I saw it (particularly since I'm not too fond of Ares), but I'm looking forward to the Thor/Ares 2 pack. I like the sculpting on both figures and Thor's new costume is made of awesome and win.
I don't know what this is from, but it looks awesome: http://tf08.superherotimes.com/showphoto.php?photo=214
Carnage was a nice surprise. I thought we would be getting yet another Spider-Man with Ben Reilly.
On that note, Was anybody else expecting Ben Reilly's other costume? I'm a little disappointed, even though both are pretty cool.
No Iron Fist / Luke Cage :(... I can only hope that Shang-Chi comes with Iron Fist...
When it comes to collecting, I'm a completist, so it makes me a little bit angry that the Hulk playset is exactly the same as the Spidey one. It really sucked having to shell out so much for the first one, but to have to do it a second time is aggravating.

I bet the new fantastic four set is the "New Fantastic Four" from the early 90's: Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider... Yeah, that era is long gone and we've all got plenty of each of these characters already, but if you think about it, the reason we're getting so many Spidey, Wolverine, and Hulk dupes is because thats what sells best. Hasbro knows that a four pack that has them all together will sell incredibly well.

Well, I mean you can still grab it from their website. ie: it hasn't sold out.
I generally preorder/order things online now because you can usually get them at the same time as stores, sometimes before.
From my experience, here in Seattle, stocking of new products is totally unpredictable and I'd prefer not to have to go to Target & Toys R Us every couple days to check it out.
Not to mention the only WalMart nearby is a 40min drive
(Seattlites don't like WalMart)

Just started collecting myself a couple weeks ago. So far I've got:
Hawkeye/Cap
Colossus/Angel
Wasp/Hulk
Namor/Thing
Cyclops/Magneto
Invisible Woman/Dr. Doom
Mr. Fantastic/Super Skrull
Wolverine/Sabretooth
Iceman/Pyro
Thor/Loki
and I had Human Torch/Silver Surfer, until I realized there was a hole in Surfer's foot and had to return him.
Does anyone know when the new wave of 2-pack figures hit? I thought it was March, but I'm seeing some ordering sites it's not until May or June.
