Hey all,
I decided after tripping over a box of odds and ends and parts that I have been collecting together for the past ten years or so, that I should do something constructive with these lil bits and pieces.
All the pieces that make this saber up are found objects. I might have run one or two through the lathe to dress them up a bit, but it's mostly old hard drive parts, carburetor parts, pieces of a dentist's drill from the 50s and assorted this and that.
I'll be posting pics of the progress as it comes along.. please leave some feedback if you have any comments or suggestions, questions, etc.

Dang, that's pretty good for a quick throw-together! Not so sure about the pin sticking out the emitter though, and it looks either a little fat or a little short in the main area, but it's still really nifty. Besides the pin in the emitter going, I'd suggest adding a more interesting activation system around the central band, I don't like the Prequel activation buttons, too simplistic, so I'd want to see an actual box there. Oh, and remember that the original Obi-Wan saber had a faucet knob for the pommel... so can you. :D

Thanks for the kind words, Tricks!
I should have mentioned, since this is still a work in progress, the threaded rod will stay till I decide what the final length and arrangement of pieces will be, then I'll lop it off an hide the securing nut.
I thought about a faucet pommell, but I didn't want to straight up copy the obi saber. I see so many faucet handle pommels, I wanted to do something different. Often times, if you try and copy something and don't quite get close enough, you invite far more criticism than if you go off in a different direction. As an artist for a game company, I tend to take existing pieces as a starting point rather than a strict guideline.
Yeah, I am putting together some pieces for the activation box, haven't quite got what I want yet. But it's coming. I am hoping to get some cool detail once I get it to the farm and put some pieces in the lathe.
This image is the way it started out, and since then I have changed the handle quite a bit.
