McFarlane is creating a line of LOST figures

McFarlane Toys will soon give Lost's legions of fans something new to obsess over. A series of Lost action figures is scheduled to be released late fall, 2006, and is destined to populate office cubicles around the country.

McFarlane Toys' Lost Series 1 captures six fan-favorite characters from the series' first season: Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, Charlie and Shannon. Each 6-inch Lost figure will have a detailed base and photographic backdrop, capturing an episode-specific moment in the character's story. In addition, each package will include a detailed prop reproduction central to the character's story, enabling fans to "own" a piece of the show's mythology. For example, Kate's figure will be packaged with a reproduction of the toy airplane that plays so prominently into her backstory. More than just action figures, McFarlane's Lost figures will once again raise the bar for fans and for the industry.

We will also be releasing Lost deluxe boxed sets -- re-creating key moments between multiple characters, and small-scale dioramas -- replicating central locations such as the mysterious island and the infamous hatch.

To say that we are VERY excited about this is an understatement.

Anyways I don't think I will be buying into this series. I like the show, but I don't want to see these characters into plastic. If I saw a Michael figure in a store I would have the ruge to pee on it.

Shannon's about as much of a fan-favorite as Ana Lucia.

No kidding. Get rid of Shannon and make Sawyer, or Sayid. Or if they had to stick with a chick, maybe Rousseau with her rifle. I know Rousseau isn't as much of a main character as the others, but it would be a much better figure than Shannon. I could actually see a Rousseau fig being released in a wave along with Eko.

i've actually been on the lookout for 3 3/4" custom fodder that i can make into Lost figures and so i'm definitely collecting this line. still gonna like for fodder however.

don't worry, i'm sure that sawyer and eko will be made in future waves. judging by how they do the sportspicks waves, they have a pretty good handle on which will be fan favorites and they don't like putting all their eggs in one basket so we'll see them soon enough.

That's a damn fine figure, but keep in mind I prefer the "statue" figures that McFarlane is popular for producing.

I can't wait to see what other scenes will be created with the remaining figures, such as Kate - Crawling through ventilation duct. I trust every male remembers that scene. :lipsrsealed:

I was quite partial to that flashback of Sun in a rather fetching nightie dress. Kate seems to hog all male attention - hasn't anyone noticed Sun?? And she has a chest on her if my memory isn't playing tricks.

Yep I'll be buying these. If Charlie is anything to go by we'll be getting super-realistic models with equally realistic bases and a nice backdrop. These do not need articulation. Articulation would ruin the appearance of these figures in a shameful way. Seriously just imagine knee joints on that Charlie figure. Horrible compromising of a sculpt which is beautiful as is.

The reaction over on Spawn.com is a bit mixed. Suffice it to say though, it seems to not be enough that you appreciate the technical achievement of the figure - you have to be a big Lost enthusiast as well. Meanwhile theres other people who love Lost and collect figures but simply see no need to have Lost figures. Then theres others moaning about the lack of articulation and the pricepoint.

For me I'm just glad McFarlane have finally gotten hold of a license I'm interested in - the first since Robocop and Hicks in MM7. Much better this than something like The Simpsons which in no way showcases the abilities of McFarlane sculptors.

I'll gladly pick these up. Extras to open: Locke, eko (when he arrives) and maybe Hurley, simply for the "dude, you got some Artz on you" and for the comment about Golf. Awesome!

EDIT: Somebody at action-figure.com is reporting that another website posted wave 2: series 2 includes: Sawyer, Jin, Michael, Walt with dog, Libby, Ethan and Anna Lucia. This isn't confirmed, but still, food for thought. I hope wave 3 includes Eko.

I'd just posted somewhere about how McFarlane hasn't got much going that I'm interested in, but these could be really cool. I'm not wild about the figures having sound -- for some reason it just seems super cheesy to me, but I'll wait 'til I see/hear them in person to decide.

I'll be looking forward to the scene set where Sayid interrogates Henry Gale... imagine the sound clips for that. ;)

Yeah, I've never been a fan of sound chips being in figures (mostly because batteries can mean bad things for us carded folks).

I just pre-ordered the set from Amazing Toyz with Sota's Lovecraft figs and McF Eli Manning and Carson Palmer figures. Damn expensive order, but I think I'll be happy once all of the stuff arrives in October/November.

I will be passing on their boxed sets with the little figs. Unless I see pics of it and it really impresses, but I don't think it will (I say this based on their similar idea used for the AvsP line).

Yeah, JBFF, i just placed my order wtih amazing toyz. I wish I would've acted sooner as other sites had them up for 64 and just put them up to 74. I bet that was mcfarlane's doing. I also ordered an extra Locke and Hurley to rip open. I am curious how they'll do the sound, but i thought it'd just be part of the base, ala Napoleon Dynamite?

and i'm holding off on the boxset until i see pics, but odds are, it'll be bada-- and i'll order it.

I have no doubts the boxset will look good (their AvP line looked nice), but I just don't have interest in smaller figures.

I don't know about the sound. The base seems like a good idea and if that's how they've done it with a previous line, then I would suppose they would do the same here.

Initial thoughts: pretty impressed so far. I think that Hurley's and Kate's face could use a tweaking, but overall, very very impressed. I can't wati to get my hands on those extra Locke and Hurley figs i got to open!! and i'm tempted to order an extra Jack figure too. :D

In that particular shot Jack looks like The Edge from U2.

And I knew they'd choose that scene for the Shannon figure. Hurley's one seemed fairly obvious too. They look good.

Mr. Eko........HELL YES. I'm so ordering an extra one of him and in fact, i'm taking orders for family members who want one too. Hopefully it's Hatch version, in his Dharma jumpsuit. These are set to be released next May, just as season 3 is wrapping up. I'll post pics when they are released! woo wooo! :thumbsup:

TRU seems to carry every line that McFarlane productions puts out and so i think it's safe to say that you'll be able to find them there. wave 1 is due in November and there's even some release party/signing by Mr. McFarlane in NYC for this line.

Found the Series 1 figures & Hatch diorama boxed set at a MD. Toys R Us today. Locke is really the standout figure in this group, which is ok since he's my favorite character. They really nailed Terry O'Quinn's likeness. Kate looks better in person than the prototype I saw. Hurley is good also. I thought Jack & Charlie could use some tweaking. Batteries are not included with anything, and a whole set plus The Hatch will set you back $126. The full-scale prop replicas are very nice indeed.

I absolutely have no idea what this show is about. I was surprised to see figures like this at TRU though; they put 'em under the SW figures here. I was tempted to get the bikini-clad Shannon; she would look good in my beach diorama I put on display during the summer. The others look pretty good, but are still basically statues. That Hatch set might work with other figure lines, like the 2.5" Sigma 6 Joes.

I have the set on order, but i found some remants of my local TRU. I already had an extra Locke, Hurley and Jack on order, but I figured i'd pick up a charlie. All of the figures (they had at least) looked great. But this base set up with the background is a PAIN IN THE *** to get set up. Man o man, it's so irritating. I haven't had this much trouble getting a figure accessory in order since Lecter's strap on CC5. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!! :upset:

i didn't have enough cash on hand while at TRU for the Hatch and so i picked up Kate (haha, pun not really intended but i'll let it slide). i think they could've done a much better job with Jack's likeness, something about it doesn't look accurate but Locke and Kate and Mr. Hugo Reyes are right on.

An article in the USA Today talked about series 2 and 3.

With the first group of Lost characters selling well (particularly the Jack, Locke and Shannon figures and the Hatch collector set), Wave 2 will be released this spring. It includes Sawyer, Mr. Eko, Sun and Jin.

Then, arriving for Christmas, will be Sayid, Desmond, a tied-up Henry Gale and Claire with baby Aaron. A collector piece in December will feature a re-creation of the pilot episode's plane crash.

I kinda like that pose for Jin, plus one of his sound clips is "others! Others!" which always made me giggle for various reasons.

Frankly, I'd love a bound and tied up Henry Gale. Maybe a figure of him eating breakfast in the hatch. A clip could be, "you guys got any milk?" Can't wait! :thumbsup:

I'm REALLY digging the packaging. It kinda reminds me of the season 3 cover art that was released a few days ago: green and black colors. Plus, it shows off the figure very well and these bases gotta be HUGE.

And I was told by Todd via his Toddcast that Series 3 info/definites will be announced late summer and the wave has been delayed to January/Feb 2008 to coincide with season 4. Kind of a bummer, but I need to save more $$ anyway. :crazed: Plus, my thoughts are it's better from a marketing standpoint as you can get press with BRAND NEW LOST figures to celebrate SEASON 4 OF LOST ON ABC! and thus, make more $$ and do more waves, etc.

Feels like forever since i've posted here! I got series 2 and they're great, especially Eko, who I bought several extra for myself, friends and family to open.

Series 3 is up in the air as series 1 was overproduced and series 2 did alright, but MCF is still wondering about it. I guess they're too busy making another several dozen dragons and Halo figures. :rolleyes: but I digress. You guys may know this already, but KayBee toys is selling LOst series 2 for 5.98@, plus they're buy 3, get 4th free. I literally got Eko, Sun, Jin & Sawyer for under $20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!When I saw all the extras on all 4, I kinda realized that's why Todd cancelled wave 3.
