Kirby has passed on. R.I.P. Kirby. You were a great player. Thanks for the memories.

I heard about this on the news tonight. They said he kept putting on weight. Not sure if that helped the stroke along. I always dug his name, and he seemed like a true gentleman. I only heard positive stuff about Mr. Puckett.

I can still remember him making that leaping catch against the plexiglass in center during the World Series like it was yesterday.

Jeez, way to eulogize the guy.

I only heard positive stuff about Mr. Puckett.

The above quote should negate that.

The first Twins game my dad ever took me to he hit a game winning homerun. Twins games were never the same after he left.

Like it says "I" only heard positive stuff, I never knew about that, nor do I really care to know now that he is no longer with us.

Yep, that was truly one of the defining moments of his career. He told his teammates before that game to put their trust in him...to let him help them win. Sure enough he did it with his play.
Of course at the time I despised him because I wanted to see the Braves win.

Regardless of his personal life, he put a great happy face on the game during his tenure as a big leaguer. I have hated the Twins since 1987, and always will - but it was impossible to not like Kirby Puckett and all the hussle he put forward. Outstanding ballplayer. Even though he died young, I'm really starting to feel old now. All my childhood and teenage years idols have retired (or are on their way out), and some have even started to rip them into that big ol' set of bleachers in the sky. Bloody hell.

Easy big cat, I was just pointing out that JimJam already posted the sludge on KP before you made your post. lol

That was said before he died.

Sorry McFly, I didn't realize this thread had been posted and then edited posthumously.

I was thinking today, he is the first great athlete in my lifetime that I grew up watching that has passed away. It does make you feel old.
