(Let's try having just one thread for these figures.)
I put scans of an ad from "Figure-Oh" magazine in the Database. It shows the new ROTS Vader and a Stormtrooper figure.

As I find other images or ads from Japanese magazines, I'll stick them here. :)

I'm kind of out of the loop, are these similar to standard 12" figures (albeit a lot better looking) or are they more of statues?

Yeah, they're articulated 12" figures. Medicom's been doing figures in this scale for years (from the "Real Action Heroes" line), but as far as I can tell they've only done four Star Wars figures. They're nice... too expensive, but really nice.

they are cool but I would never pay $200 bucks for any figure. If I was to ever drop loot like that I would do it on a replica

Not Star Wars, but a great example of what makes this line unique...
(Now that Sideshow is distributing RAH, I wonder what the pricing will be like.)

I have the Vader and Luke, and I love 'em! Top notch stuff (as it should be for the price). The details are really amazing on these things, and the quality is the best I've come across in this scale. Extremely acurate clothes and accessories, and the bodies are solid, and hold their poses perfectly.
The only complaints I have are Lukes facial likeness (should be better for $200..), and Vader isn't tall enough. He stands just barely taller than Luke, which doesn't look right. I use a thicker stand for him, which gives him some height over Luke, but I really shouldn't have to do that with a figure that retails for $200.
I really want the Stormtrooper, Hopefully I'll be able to track one of those down. I'm probably gonna pass on the ROTS Vader. It looks great, but I can't justify spending that much on such a similar figure.
Also not SW, but I recently bought the Medicom Wolverine 12", and that figure is the sh****!!! Absolutely no complaints on that figure, it's the best version of Wolverine I own, bar none. Like PF was saying above, a very unique line indeed.

Ditto, neat but way too much.

Yeah. I got the Luke and Vader since they were the best articulated figures available at that time. I agree with everyone else: the Luke's likeness is not the greatest, and the Vader is ridiculously short -- so much that I dont like to display him with the marmits & Luke.
But, like I said it was the best available. Now that sideshow can make better figures for 1/4 the price, I dont have much interest in RAH.

It comes as no surprise to me that the prices for these figures on eBay are dropping. I saw a few bye-it-nows for about 110.00 Of course it is 140.00 after you add in the shipping from Hong Kong. Sideshow came along with the 12" line just in time. I will grab a few of these Stormtroopers if the total price drops to about 75.00.

I bet Sideshow's upcoming 12" figures will be just as good at way less then a fraction of the price. I'lll go with Sideshow.

I certainly prefer the Sideshow 12" figures. But the limited availability has me worried as far as being able to troop build when the troopers come out. That is why I am eyeing the Medicom RAH Stormtroopers.

I'd just like to say that I wouldn't consider buying a medicom figure until i see the sideshow sith line first to see if they had a ROTS vader. If they didn't, then i'd probably get a 2nd ver medicom vader. they're just too damn expensive.

i am living in japan and saw 2 RAH stormies for $80 each yesterday.
i also have RAH vader (ver. 1) he is awesome but yes he could use a little more hieght. i think i will be getting sideshow 12" luke for 3 reasons:
1) havent been able to find RAH luke.
2) face sculpt has better likeness.
3) cheaper.

I bought a RAH stormy a few weeks ago, and it is very well done. The quality on this guy is top notch. I'm very happy with it.
The armor actually looks like the real thing, perfect proportions. His bodysuit is black sythentic leather, not cloth. And his holster is the same material with a metal stud holding the strap down. When you pop his head off, you can see that the helmet is actually removable, and there is a bald head under there.
I didn't attempt to take the helmet off because it's on extremely tight, and after paying what I did for this damn thing, I'd just about die if I damaged it. :dead:
I would say, if you have the disposable cash, go for it. It's the best 12" you're gonna get right now, no question. If you're on a budget, hold out for Sideshow to do one. It's pretty much guaranteed they'll do one for around $50.

I'm really liking that ROTS version of the medi vader. I hope sideshow makes a ROTS vader.

(Now that Sideshow is distributing RAH, I wonder what the pricing will be like.)What's up with that huge Zipper? That looks really bad.
The likeness on the Luke is terrible and SS blows it away.

4) ???
Which one did I miss?

ROTS 2nd ver vader. I think.

Yeah, ROTS Vader makes 4... though I'd be intrerested to do a good side-by-side of the two Vaders to see what the differences are.
What's up with that huge Zipper? That looks really bad.I dunno, for what looks like a functioning zippper it's not too bad. The pull might be a tad large, but in general I'm impressed with the clothes. (I don't have any of my Pistols books with me right now to really check for accuracy.) My only complaint is that the faces are way too idealized -- Sid and Johnny were never that good looking. The hair is kind of weird also.

I remember seeing my mom's vintage Barby's and the zippers were smaller than that.

You guys seen the upcoming RAH Blade? This thing looks freakin awesome IMO. I might have to get one to display with my Marvel Studios Blade...
Here's a pic... you can see more pics here (http://www.superherotimes.com/newsarchive/001153.php) also.

PF - There is a link in the Vote for ROTS Vader thread to an eBay auction that has a great side-by-side comparison on it.

Yeah, that worked just fine. (I'll put the image below.)
So they do look to have some differences. The ROTS version seems shorter, has a different collar chain, cod peice and chest panel. Looks like the helmet is a tad wider also.
That's a nice figure there... just wish it wasn't so darn expensive.

Hey!
My ROTS Vader showed up at work today. I know I said wasn't gonna buy one (since I already have the 1st version), but I gave in. It's like Turbowars has said, I'm a slave to this stuff... :whip:
Looks great in the package with his arms folded in front of him. He's probably gonna stay in that pose when I open him eventually.

I got a little bored tonight so I took a couple pics of my Medicoms. You can't really see ROTS Vader because he's still in the package, but I can tell you that there are definitely plenty of differences between the two Vaders.
Anyways, here's a few pics. I really love these things. I wish they would have made a Maul instead of the second Vader, but it's cool. Sideshow's Maul will be great when it's eventually released. I imagine we wont be seeing anymore Medicom SW stuff since Sideshow has the SW 12" license now (which is cool with me since I really can't afford these things anyways...).

Mmmm... very nice. I'm really jealous, and I know what you mean about not being able to afford these things. I've been oogling various Medicom 12" figures for years, only to give up knowing that even if I have the money, I probably shouldn't spend it.
I kept seeing that Alien figure ages ago, and always passed it up... sadly. Now I'm seeing pics of various new Ultraman and Kamen Rider heroes and monsters (I really want the Kamen Rider Amazon) that I'll have to live without. These Star Wars figures are just super though. That Stormtrooper is really great.
I dunno about Medicom and future Star Wars figures. Who knows what kind of a deal they have... I've been wondering for a while what their relationship with Sideshow is really like. (A Hasbro/Takara kind of thing?) I'd just hoped that maybe their prices would go down now that Sideshow is distributing them over here. (Won't hold my breath though.)

Yeah, I used to pine for those older Medicoms back in the day. Freddy Krueger, the Alien and Predator (regular paint versions, not those clear and glow in the dark versions).
I never did buy any of those, and I'm glad I didn't since the newer stuff looks so much better. Aside from the SW line, the only other Medicom I've bought is the RAH Wolverine, and it is a fantstic figure as well!
BigBadToyStore.com is selling the Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight Medicom RAH figure for $134.99 if anyone is interested. Not a fantastic discount, but its something.

Reefer Shark - I don't see why Medicom would have to stop selling their 12" Star Wars line as they were selling it when Hasbro was making them as well. However, considering the quality of the Sideshow figures, they may stop because nobody will buy them any more.

Came into a pretty sweet deal, and scored a second Stormtrooper for $74 +shipping on ebay. It showed up today, and I'm very stoked!
Just under $100 is well worth it for this guy IMO! He's gonna help flank Vader, and that's it for my Medicom collection.

Along with a Blackhole Stormtrooper and Yoda. I will have to get these, no question about it. Bye-bye money... I just hope the BHS isn't going to be as hard to get as the GG bust was.
