was going to update a post i'd made in the colorado just found section, but nothing happened when i tried to use the 'edit' button, so i had to make a new post. anyone else having problems like this?

(and for the admin - i'm using IE 5.2 on a mac running OS X)

Not here. The only difference I've noticed with the "edit" feature is that it doesn't take you to a different window like the one where you post a new reply but instead it let's you edit your post as is.

Jax, how old was the post you were trying to edit? If it was within the past day, try right-clicking (or whatever it is you Mac users do to make a link bring up a menu instead of just clicking) and then opening the link in a new window.

i'll try again once i get home tonite since i was able to successfully open a new edit window using IE at work. possibly just time to reset my cookies again.

More likely it's what Slicker mentioned in his post, the new version of the forums has a quick-edit field right on the thread itself, which may not be compatible with your Mac or perhaps even your IE settings. Opening the edit in a new window overrides the quick-edit feature.

seems to have worked itself out now. didn't do anything differently but was able to edit a post today. seems that anytime something changes behind the scenes takes awhile for my mac to catch on.

Mac scares me. ;) Glad it worked out for you though.

It's possible that you needed to do that 1-time reload thing late in the game, a lot of us had to hard-reload a forums page once when the new forums first came in before certain features would work.

why would you be using anything other than safari on OS X anyway? IE is a dead branch on mac...

mostly because while it still works i'm slow to upgrade. so it'll take awhile before i get around to upgrading my OS from 10.1 that i'm using now. i don't play many computer games, don't have to do any serious "work" with my computer. so as long as i'm able to browse the web and continue to do some lightweight word-processing that's all i really need my home system for. in fact it's likely that as long as iTunes will continue to function on my current OS i won't upgrade.

I can't even find an edit button on my posts.I just have to hit the reply button and add to the post. This becomes very annoying, especially since most of my posts are made in the trading section.

Editing is not allowed in the trading section, so that users cannot edit a trade offer after making an agreement for one thing and then claiming another.
