View Full Version : How about an Exclusive figure for SirStevesguide.com

Was just thinking,

How cool would it be to have an exclusive figure that only can be purchased from sirstevesguide.com ????
I mean after all websites like EE and starwars.com have exclusives why not SirSteve ????

Would all the members purchase an exclusive figure if the figure was made for us and designed by our ideas ?????

Any thoughts

This might be the way we get some of those figures that we have all been wishing for, VOTC style Qui Gon, ROTJLuke's Ultimate DS II Luke, etc.

Hey another thought could be that this figure could be sold as a tribute to some of our special members like Marilyn R2-Dee2 and even help out Tycho.
If the figure costs like $15.00 perhaps we can all kick in $20 and donate the extra $5 to help out.

I think the figure would sell out and the though behind it would be appreciated by all.

Good luck on getting a figure that everybody would agree on.

That would be an absolute nightmare, people hate exclusives in the first place and as they all flood here to buy it . . . well how would it be sold in the first place ? Through the auction site ? Besides, SW.com and EE are both dealers of Hasbro product whereas Steve is not, so, yeah I don't see this as more than a pipe dream.

Brian's Toys will get an exclusive before "we" do, and it'll cost $25 for one figure. lol lol lol

Well, if it wasn't a figure from the movies. How about something like Stillakid in Scout Trooper Armor or bobafrett in Tuskin Raider attire. Or, how about Sir Steve and Jedi Tricks 2-pack!

No, because JT would have to write up a long and negative review detailing how poorly made the figure was. :crazed:

I doubt Hasbro would want to "play favorites" with a particular website. So if there was a sirstevesguide.com exclusive figure, you could expect a galactichunter.com exclusive, a rebelscum.com exclusive, a theforce.net exclusive, and so on ad nauseum. End the madness before it begins!

(Though a JarJarBinks handing someone a gift basket with a miniature carded POTJ Jar Jar would rock.)

Already been done! Of course I paid a lot more than 15 dollars for the figure, and there is only one, and I OWN it! :pleased:

Now that's pretty darn cool.

Wasn't there a picture posted here some time ago of SirSteve from one of the Celebrations or Comic Cons where he posed in front of a giant Saga card?

Yes I believe there was, but I'm not into doing a whole lot of research to find it, I'm sure one of our computer squad personnal will whip up the picture soon enough.

But it will warm Peg. ;)

Hey Frett that is an awesome fig, fantastic ! OR should I say Frettastic ? lol

I posed with one of those Saga cards, too, but when it came time for Hasbro to bring the OTC black one out to Chicago, those ****ers bailed out of Wizard World. Same this year, I should have been posing in a ROTS card but no luck this year either. :(

Well if SirSteve was to approach hasbro and state that the money would maybe go to a children's hospital or a charity foundation then perhaps hasbro would go with it. At least it's worth a try.....

As far as having a figure that everyone could agree on perhaps we need to start a fan;s choice of our own where the threads are searched for the top 5 most wanted figures. All the members vote and the results get sent to Hasbro.

Yes it might get no farther then these forums but if nothing else at least we can try and hope that Hasbro will do something like this.

Here would be my Top 5 choices for the Exclusive Figure :

ROTJLuke's Ultimate version of the DS II Luke Skywalker (see his posts as there is just too much to list.)

Super Articulated Emperor Palpatine with lightsaber hilt, sith lighting effects, cane and Throne with Death Star Window Backdrop

Super Articulated Qui Gon Jinn with Lightsaber, Lightsaber Hilt, mositure farmer poncho, soft goods cloak, comlink and interchangeable chest (ie wound from Darth Maul)

Super Articulated Boba Fett with blaster rifle, blaster pistol, and removable helmet. ( Basically a 300th Fett and VOTC Fett combined)

Super Articulated Princess Leia as Jabba's Slave with soft goods skirt, skiff guard force pike and real metal chain, and real hair ponytail.

Another cool feature of this idea could be that it is a figure that only we can get, on a special SirSteve Cardback ! plus this could be the launch of a line that all the fans have been waiting for, the Ultimate Saga Edition Line, super articualted features that truly capture the spirit of the characters.

I was sort of hoping that people would have taken this seriously but so much for that. I still think the idea has merit and warrants a look to see if it is possible.

Yes, but how many people are actual serious posters here, out of all the registered users? I think it's a grand idea, but for hasbro to put a figure out, it would need better distribution than this toy forum. I mean if they get it to sell through a Wal-Mart or Target, we would be all good. Another problem, if SSG was to get an exclusive figure, how many other toy forums would want to have their own exclusive figure? I paid a very high price to get my own figure made which was basically Han's head placed on a Tusken Raider body, some modification to the hair, and printed on a custom cardback. As it is people here are already complaining about all the exclusives out there.

hi,

i think it would be a cool idea. i would pay $20 dollars for it and probably buy 2 of them one to open and one to stay closed.

We keep trying to get something but I don't think Hasbro wants to associate with fan sites when it comes to exclusives. I know other sites have tried as well. Perhaps we can run a poll and it may change their mind...

You seem kind of optimistic about this Steve. Maybe it could be a fan site exclusive. You know SSG, RS and GH. The more the merrier! OK how about just SSG and GH.

I think that if we actually say and do donate some of the profit form the sale to charity Hasbro might actually go for it. As far as deciding what figure should be made we can research all of the wish list posts on this website and come up with the top 5 and have our own Fan choice poll. The figure with the most votes is the figure that could get submitted. :)

As far a charity that too can be voted upon as to which one we want to donate to. Let's say if the figure is $20, then $5 goes to charity. If everyone on the website buys the figure then alot of cash can be raised.

Also I am sorry if i offended anyone with my remark about taking the idea seriously, I for one know that many posts are not serious as having posted serveral myself, but I figured the idea had merit and the idea of donating to charity was a serious thought as well.

I am always down for an exclusive. Myself and Tycho have done pols and such in the past. One option is to take the top 5 from each of our lists that matched up and send them to Hasbro.

Maybe one exclusive sold through most or all of the fan sites, with each site deciding how to distribute the proceeds to a particular charity or charities?

Just the thoughts of Hasbro making a different exclusive for each site scares me. They're pretty exclusive-happy as it is. I can't imagine having to get a SSG exclusive, a GH exclusive, a RS exclusive, a TFN exclusive, etc, etc, etc, at $15 apiece.

I like that idea. I typically don't spend $20 on a figure, but if it is for charity, I'd do it. By the way, you're on a heck of a roll with your posts being turned into poll questions.

Meh, we get over it. Nothing on this board was really all that serious, until Sir Steve created that @*!# Rancor Pit. I wish there was a way to completely hide it.

To kind of go along with what Chux was saying, what about getting a group of the major fansites together for an online exclusive figure?
You could have the only real difference between different site versions could be something as simple as a sticker on the card/bubble saying from which site it is from (like an SSG or TFN or RS sticker).
And do it for a great cause - right now a better I doubt there is a more desperate cause than for the hurricane relief. Imagine setting the price at even $25 each, with 100% of the profits going to help.
It could be a great way for Hasbro to work with the massive Star Wars fan community to help the thousands upon thousands in need.
As I think about it and because it can take quite a while to produce a figure, maybe we could even pay the money now (or as soon as it could be decided) rather than when the figure is even ready, to help as soon as possible. Also by taking the orders before the figure is even produced, Hasbro could have a definite number of how many would be needed and every fan could be assured that they would be able to get theirs.

No offense taken, just pointing out the way I would see why it would more than likely not be approved by Hasbro. I'm all for dishing out a little extra cash for an SSG exclusive figure if the proceeds went to a charity!

The Hurricane Relief Fund would be a great charity to donate to since the people need all the help they can get. As far as donating every piece of the profit that's Hasbro's choice. True they could write it off a tax cut or donation to charity but they may want to keep some of the profit for themselves.

I say let's give it a try, we have nothing to lose by setting up a poll and letting the fans decide, then we could contact Hasbro and see if they would be willing to make a deal.

A good idea theoretically, but the lead time on such a piece, even if it's just a repackaged item, would be a year or more. :(

In a case like this, I wouldn't mind waiting quite a while for one, and I suspect that many others would mind waiting either.
Besides, these people are going to need some help for quite a long time. It's not like this tragedy will be over in a few weeks.

Yes it will take a good year or two for the figure to be released and made but from the news reports they are saying the relief effort is going to take a good five years. I still say let's do it.

Guys, if you want to help Hurricane Relief, just send some money to the Red Cross or something. Hasbro is not going to make "us" an exclusive figure just so they can turn around and give some of the money to charity.

DarkArtist
09-04-2005, 07:17 PM
I have already sent money to aid in the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina. But like the first posting I said the profits could go to any charity that perhaps we decide upon or even if Hasbro suggests. Afterall the money could go to AIDS research or even Cancer research.

I still think we should try. I even write the letter and ask Hasbro if that is alright with SirSteve. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing whether or not they will respond, but still there is the chance that something positive might come from it.

My question is if SirSteve says it's alright, and Hasbro does go along with the concept, would members be willing to buy the figure if the price is around $20. Yes it is a bit pricey but if you think about it the covert ops trooper on StarWars.com is almost $20 with shipping. Hopefully Hasbro will make us the figure we want and the price will be worth it. The only thing that stands in our way is Hasbro and the choice of the figure to be made.

So, which of the top 5 most requested figures should be made ?
