View Full Version : Should the prequel forums be merged into one? (merged)

so, the original trilogy has one section for threads about all three movies, whereas each prequel movie has it's own section.

i'm sure the individual sections were a natural progression, as the movies were made, not only could we not discuss the other prequels (as they hadn't been conceived yet,) but we also had to split up spoilers from non-spoilers.

this said, when the prequel trilogy is complete, will the three sections for them be consolidated into one section marked "prequel trilogy," or will they maintain individual sections, while the original trilogy continues to get the shaft with only one section? to be fair, i think each OT movie should get it's own section. so get crackin' mods! :crazed: :dead:

I ran into Jason Mewes at the bank just today, what a jerk.

Anyway, my thought has always been to merge all 4 prequel sections into 1 "prequel" section 1 day, but I'm not sure if Steve agrees with that.

What made him jerky? Did you talk to him or did he have that attitude, hey look, I'll a movie star.

I think he just has a general bad attitude, he has a very angry face on now days, probably from having to do time for taking smack (or was it H?).

As for your sig, I did, I'm assuming you aren't referring to my fixing of the "shere/sphere" misspell; the part cut was inappropriate for the site. Actually, your whole sig has to change, it's way too big and too many lines, check the announcements for the new signatures rule.

i still like the idea of separating out the original trilogy threads into ANH, ESB and ROJ forums.

I like the idea of seperation as well as someone should consider making an all encompassing section that covers all 6 films. I've made some threads that could've gone either way, Prequel or OT.

Should we just merge the TPM, AOTC, and ROTS boards into one "Prequel Trilogy" board to match the "Original Trilogy" board?

Yes, I think so. That way they don't take up so much space, since people hardly ever post in the TPM and AOTC ones anymore anyway.

I'd say merge Eps 1 and 2, but hold off a while on Ep3. It is still new and will probably have plenty of discussion for the next 6 months or so (at least), especially with the DVD just around the corner.

I dont care either way. I believe the question was brought up before and an answer given as to why they wont be merged just yet

Not yet, I would wait until after the DVD comes out.

As of Jan One Oh Six, I say merge 'em.

I'd say wait a few more months... like Caesar side perhaps after the dvd comes out. Although that will spawn a whole new series of postings too.

I say leave 'em be for the same reasons as listed above. The DVD is gonna generate new interest and lots of useless useful threads.

Already planning on starting a bunch of useless useful threads, are ya Slicker ?

Jim Jam can't wait to watch the DVD in Novemby and realize (and susequently start a thread on) the connection between ROTS and Palps' comment in TPM about watching Little Ani's career with great interest. Can't ya, Jimmers ? lol

They'll get merged after the DVD, and we have indeed had another thread discussing this already. :D

How long after the DVD ? 1 minute ? 1 day ? 1 fortnight ?

Funny that you say that Caesar I actually have a thread idea I'm just working on the details. Long story short it revolves along (my personal) revelation that Palps and Sids are the same person... ;)

But should we merge the two threads or keep 'em seperate?

Merge every section into one and sub divide it into the greatest collection of SW forums. Oh wait, Steve did that already

I say make it even easier and merge everything into one huge thread.

I think every unit should have its own forum. Including the OT. ANH, ESB, ROTJ, Clone Wars etc. should all have its own discussion forum. Split them up furhter. We still need the EU forum too.

I am willing to do this if the majority rules.

I'd like them split up but I don't really know if there are enough OT movie specific threads anymore. But I've had some confusion on where to put threads.

Rocketboy
08-24-2005, 08:03 PM
Yeah, I'd say OT thread, PT thread (eventually), and an *shudder* EU thread would be a good idea.
That way the only hard choice would be where to put threads that encompass the entire saga. :D

They've now been merged and I think this is a bit too early to merge the prequel forums, why do it right now ? The DVD for ROTS just came out and there seemed to be an increase in ROTS posting but in the end I guess it doesn't matter since we're heading toward a merged area anyway. :)

Can it please be renamed to "Prequel Trilogy" ? :) I don't think "Prequels" is appropriate when the forum below it is "Classic Trilogy." ;)

JediTricks
11-05-2005, 04:59 PM
Because "the Star Wars saga is now complete", don't you read the back of your DVD boxes? :p Seriously though, it's not like people can't go to the Prequel forum and discuss it, there weren't exactly a lot of folks talking about Eps 1 and 2 lately so it's not like it's being crowded out by other topics. I thought it was the right time, back in summer it's when we said it was going to happen.

As for the title, I asked Steve to rename both Prequel and Classic into Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy forums, and he was kind enough to oblige.

Yeah JT, afterward that's how I felt too, no reason why we can't do it all up in the PT forum, you're right. :)

Thanks for the renaming of the PT forum and that's awesome about the OT forum. I was about to ask for the same thing last night but I didn't want to sound too greedy, since it had been called the CT forum for so long. I didn't want to rock Steve's boat. :crazed:

I love the OT change. :)
