I agree, it looks very nice but badly needs the sound chip. Come on, can the technology really be THAT expensive in this modern age? The Imperial Shuttle, gunship, Sandcrawler and TIE Fighter would so greatly be enhanced by cool sounds - it's a crying shame they keep cheaping out. I will be getting one of these TIE's though.

Finally, a nicely scaled Tie to go with our modern X-wings. I'll be getting one or two for sure.

One thing I notice - they have the crappy POTF2 pilot in the box, but the picture on the back has the far superior SAGA version. I wonder wich pilot they'll actually include with this puppy?

I'm sure this is a prototype pic, so mabye there's a chance we'll get the better pilot with it.

I am going to guess $24.99 for this thing. I agree with everyone else; this tie fighter ROCKS! I am going to try to get two of these unless, as noted, it is a stupid target exclusive. I hope it ends up at Wal Mart or Toys R Us.

I was kind of hoping the new TIE looked a bit off in some way so that i could have an excuse not to purchase it, but it looks nice in the pic. Im going to get one, i like the larger wings and the pilot figure is a plus too.

After seeing this, I'm glad I passed on the saga TIE. This is much better. I still would like another shot at the originally very hard to find TIE Interceptor.

I've been waiting over 25 years for this TIE Fighter to be released!

I don't care if it doesn't have the sound chip, or that it is blue (again), they finally got the wings right.

This thing is going to be SO cool. I can't wait to get one!

"They finally decided to get the wings right" is the more accurate statement. This could have been done way back in the vintage line. The cockpit looks to be the same one we're used to (presumably with the proper engine).

It looks good, I may get two. Its a curious thing that Hasbro insist that the TIE fighter is blue - even if it is it doesn't look blue in the films - it looks grey - so make it grey!!! Stormtrooper armour may be luminous pink but it looks white so I want white.

I remember seeing early prototype pics of this TIE Fighter and it wasn't blue at that point. Its a shame Hasbro decided to keep this ship from being THE definitive TIE Fighter but since its probably the best version we're likely to ever get and considering I already sold my Saga TIEs I'll be buying two.

Well, just when I think I have the best of what there is going to be on the Tie Fighters, they redo them so I have to dump my current ships for the new better versions. But I will gladly do this!!! I love the new Tie Fighter so I will look for 4 to replace my 4 saga Ties.

With all the replacements and everything I have quite an army of Tie pilots going, 36 and counting.

TIE Fighters and TIE Bombers from ESB are definately blueish in tint, as are the TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors in RotJ.

It was found in L.A. and is 40 bucks. From reading the findings and description and price point 40 bucjs for 2 new wings and a figure is not worth it. The OTC one was 17.99 at Target, so 2 wings and a figure dont add up to 23 bucks IMO.

From that picture it seems that the fuselage is less wide than the rest of the TIE's released. I too am waiting for a loose picture.

Same here. My wife goes to Target all the time, anyway, so I'll practically have a constant lookout. :thumbsup:

Target seems to put thier things on clearance faster than most other chains that carry Star Wars toys, especially exlcusives. Either that, I've just been lucky. Besides, the TIE Fighter is a want, not a need.

It so expensive for a few reasons. #1 it's an Exclusive #2 who the hell cares if the wings are bigger but us SW geeks? #3 We asked for it and they figure we will pay what ever they want for it and #4 We have to pay for the new molds. Tooling a metal mold isn't a cheap thing to do.

Now I know you all knew this, but just thought I would lay it all out again, because you all cry so much about exclusives.:yes:

Anyways RS has a new pic of the front of the box and it shows that the wings are not attached to the pod. So that means it's bigger that some of us thought. I don't know if Hasbro made the shalt longer to go with the wings, but at least we know it's the same or bigger in width compared to the old model.

I'm looking forward to seeing pics of loose comparison shots of the old TIE and this one. The wings are obviously bigger and far more accurate but a picture will make that real. I'm not sure there's even a point to checking the Target here, I have a feeling I'm gonna have to get someone to give me a hook-up on this one.

Did anyone notice since the wings are so massive that they don't fly off the pod like the old one did when you push the buttons?

I still can't believe how big the wings are. Hasbro you did good, but not good enough for me to change my signature. Hopefully you can convince me to do so when the Saga 2 line comes out.:thumbsup:

I like the fact that they ask you how important the condition of the box is to you, in other words if you are going to open it, the box condition wouldn't be as important then if you were to display it in the box.

I had the dude at Target type this in, and he showed that they had it in back, but they didn't have a place/tag on the shelf for it yet. I had to convince him to grab one for me, so he went in back and grabbed one (that's all i could afford, and that's all he felt comfortable bringing out). IT's friggin huge.
The only problem.......... the box is really difficult to get in perfect condition. He said that he went through the few that they had (I guess they don't come that many to a box), and he said that he picked out the best one. The plastic windows were in great condition, and the box, for the most part, was in great condition, but the tabs that hold the box together have tape to hold the tabs in. And the tabs must have a lot of pressure on them becase they're slightly ripping and creased. Minor problem, as I like to keep these things boxed... but this is so cool that I might have to open it.
I think that I'll keep a look out for when/if these hit the shelves, and try to find one in excellent condition... then I can take this one back.

way cool! I opened mine...it has the new styke rear end so it does not have that clunky battery cover. The wings add a lot of wieght...it feels heafty and just right scale wise. The wings have that droop to them from the exploding panel gimmick, but that is an easy fix.
SOUND...this would have been the best ship ever with sound and lights. oh well

I finally seen the TIE fighter today. Its huge compared to the last couple of TIEs weve gotten. Luckily i was given a gift certificate to Target from my place of employment so i was able to afford it. Im glad its mine too, its a awesome looking ship, i would have hated to have passed it up.

I saw the new TIE today as well and even though I really want it I passed.

$40 is pretty steep for this vehicle but the thing that really turned me off from buying this was seeing the ship's blue color in person. Hasbro really dropped the ball on this one IMO because I wouldn't have even hesitated to pull the trigger on a pair of these if they had been painted accurately. :sad:

As it is I'll take my chances trying to find it at a reduced or possibly even clearance price.

Hellboy, if you look at the SW.com listing for the TIE Interceptor, you'll see that the prop's color is that same blue, there's 2 different photos of it: http://www.starwars.com/databank/starship/tieinterceptor/index.html

Good info JT, very interesting. It does make sense too and even though the TIE's seemed darker in Ep V and VI I never realized they were the same shade as the Interceptors and the Bombers. Nice observation, maybe I need to reevaluate my assessment of this ship. :Ponder:

One thing I did find strange, and this might have just been the batch of ships I saw, but only one of the lasers on the cockpit had the silver paint surrounding the red tips. Obviously this is an error since both should look identical but all three of the ships I saw were missing the silver paint on the ships left laser. Anybody else notice this?

It's the left laser (your left when looking at it in the box) and the back of the box pictures show the same thing.
