What are these horizontal lines on my screen?

For no apparent reason, yesterday all of these lines just appeared on my computer screen. I mean, when I type something, or there's something darker than the rest of the screen, a faint shadow-y horizontal line appears. The darker the object, the darker the line. It's not the monitor's fault as I tried a different one with the same computer and it was the same effect. I did a system restore but that didn't do anything but make me lose all the stuff I had (most of which was backed up, though). So is this a problem with the graphics card? How do I go about getting a new one? I don't really want to try to do it myself.

It is possible it could be your video card. I would ask around and see if you have a friend taht could take a look at it or change it out for you. If you went to Geek Squad or something you get hosed. those guys are Natzis (If anyone either works for Geek squad or is a Natzi I appologise in advance if I hurt your feelings)

According to the sticker on my computer, it's a "16MB Nvidia TNT2 M64 PRO Graphics Card." I think I'm gonna take it to Circuit City or something tomorrow, since this bugs the crap out of me. Thanks for the tip Captain Spoon, I'll avoid the Geek Squad.
