What a joke. Over at RS they say Hasbro will be fazing out the Unleashed line as we know it with the Shock Trooper wave. They say the line will be replaced with 2 inch figures sold in 4 packs. Not to happy with the decision, but if they are done well I might like them.

Until it's confirmed, I'll consider it BS from RS. (I made a funny! :D)
But if it's confirmed, well, let's just say Hasbro might get some bags of burning doon-doon on their porch.

Hasbro is making a serious mistake.
To say I'm unhappy with the cancellation of the Unleashed line is an understatement.
At least with another wave AFTER Sidious vs. Yoda / ROTJ Vader, we can hope stores will support and well-stock the current wave before the Shocktrooper.
I guess it's nice that if they are phasing out the line, they'll be doing so with a wave less people will truly care about.
I'd have gone for that trash compactor Han if I thought they'd make a Trash Compactor Luke to go with him as a set - mabye with Leia and Chewie too.
The Shocktrooper on Mustafar? If they had to repaint a Clone - the 501'st Death Squad would have been a much better choice - or Commander Gree would have been awesome in his camaouflage.
Chewie with weapons he didn't even use? I mean even the base could have been made to see like his ankles were underwater from the lagoon....
In fact, either Chewie never fought in the battle, never leaving Yoda's side, as it seemed, or he jumped off a helicopter to plant that thermal detonator on a Tank Droid, and then fell into the water (during the battle) and managed to somehow get back up there to Yoda before Gree turned on him. Doubtful, so I don't think Chewie even saw combat in Episode 3.

Don't worry. If they confirm this at Comic Con, or if they dodge the question, I plan to institute a torture that involves a live chicken, a weedeater, and a jar of peach preserves.

It's unfortunate but not disappointing. They're starting to stretch the line thin as they have done with 12" line. Come on who really needs an Unleashed Slave Leia or Aurra Sing?

This may be true, but they're still selling rather well. And they're only a couple of seemingly unfortunate choices that, luckily for us (or so I thought), still moved quickly.
And who really needs Unleashed Kit Fisto, Lando Calrissian, Qui-Gon Jinn, etc? We all do. We all do.

Did anyone read the home page? It says that "Hasbro continues the popular Unleashed line this fall". The home page also has pictures, and if it's popular, why would they discontiue it?
Heroism Unleashed. Bravery Unleashed. An Army... Unleashed.

I would say that this is a mistake on Hasblow's part. I mean they did a really good job on these figures and are obviously popular in the SW community. I mean just look at how "well" (meaning overpriced) some of the figures are selling on ebay! Why they're deciding to go from great unleashed to crappy 2 inch figures I will never know.

One of the main selling points of these things is the magnificent attention to detail afforded by having them be 7". How much detail can you put into a 2"figure? I've never realy been a fan of these because of the lack of articulation, but I'd be even less interested in two inch tall versions.

Rebelscum (http://www.rebelscum.com/scumpoll.asp?ID=279&AnswerID=1473) has put up a poll about the cancellation:
What do you think of Hasbro's apparent plans to reduce the size of the Unleashed figures from 7" to 2"?
I don't like the idea at all. 2143 votes (77%)
I'm not sure what to think. 299 votes (10%)
It sounds like a good move. 196 votes (7%)
No opinion 122 votes (4%)
Totals 2760 votes
Gee, Big surprise there...
Wake up Hasbro.

I must admit, I do not collect the Unleashed line. However, this is mostly due to lack of space than lack of interest. Thus, I am sad to see the line endingg.
As for the 2 inch line, I think it could have some potential. I have seen similar sized figures based off japanese anime, and i must admit some of them are pretty damn cool, especially if done in an unleashed-ish style.
for example something reminicent of these:

They should give the line a little rest. Take off a little time then come back with some new sculpts. As I stated before the line is getting diluted with non main characters which, although not entirely bad, tends to keep the figures hanging on the pegs.

I mentioned this in another thread but has anyone noticed the last wave of Unleashed (Han Stormtrooper, Shocktrooper, Wookie) are all rehashes. Talk about going out with a whimper rather than a bang.

I'm not a huge avid collector of the Unleashed line but I have a couple pieces that I really love. No offense Umbra, but 2" with animated creations as models isn't the same thing as 2" sculpts of humans and highly detailed creatures. I think something is going to be lost in the translation.

Funny HB,
I said pretty much the same thing in the L.A. found thread. They could've done so much better with the last wave, how dissapointing. The fans have really supported this line through the last few years, I think Hasbro could've afforded new sculpts for the last wave. Instead we get this rehash crap.
At this point, I have no interest in a 2" line... :bored:

I have a few pieces from the Unleashed line and think they are great.Hopefully I can track down a Vader before the line does go down.I think starting up a 2" line is dumb,if you want figures that small, why not collect the Heros,Minis or D&D style?

Would this supposed 2" line be like the mini-Lord of the Rings line? If so, I might actually start collecting these things. I do not currently collect the Unleashed line. But, I was tempted by the mini-LOTR figures, but held back. If done correctly, a 2" line won't be that bad. They could put a decent amount of detail into them, plus you could build an army in no time if they come out in 4-packs. I know a lot of people love the 7" Unleashed, and I don't see how a 2" figure could replace a 7" series of figures.

It doesn't make sense considering WotC makes the minatures which are around 2 inches.

At C3, one of the Unleashed sculptors was at the Hasbro booth one afternoon. My friend asked him what Hasbro had on tap character-wise, and the guy was a little evasive. Now we know why.
I think it's a bad mistake, too, but if the 2" are of quality and we get a good variety of characters, I might buy.

I was never a fan of the unleashed line to begin with so i will not miss it. The only one I picked up was the Slave Leia.
I rather see Hasbro focus on the 3 3/4 line and more ships. i think these are more affordable, have a higher play value and also, I mean let's face it, the toys are designed first and foremost for the kids anyway. Unleashed offered no play value.

I was told by Steve that Hasbro said Unleashed is not cancelled, that it's simply on hold, these little 2"ers will augment the line but not replace it.

There. Now everyone is happy. Excpet for the people who collect the Unleashed line that are going to have to wait while the line is on hold.

You got that right! Hasbro did say that Qui-Gon Jinn is one of the characters they wanted to do the most and he has not been forgotten.
It's just that when (if) I finally get him, it will feel like "yeah, finally!"
It still won't feel like the momentum I once felt with this line where I was so totally excited to buy the latest releases and then anxiously wait to discover what was coming next.
Qui-Gon 2-3 years in the making does not sound as thrilling as Qui-Gon, by next Christmas.
Hopefully they'll bring him out when there are still some of us who care.

Also, $9.99 is a pretty good price for so much quality and details!
Funny however that they want to run a Titanium Micro Figures line as well- basically Die-Cast versions of the Star Wars Miniatures. These should be plastic- Hasbro didn't learn from the faliure of the Micro Collection line from 1982. Kids didn't like the metal figures. They want figures they can play with, not watch that the color chips off when dropping them once.
On the other hand, I really LIKE THE IDEA behind these sets!
They could release themed sets for the whole Saga by repacking these figures! I really minded that you didn't know which figures you would get and that the most important/ coolest were rare to super rare.
These would be very cool, IF THEY WERE MADE OF PLASTIC. :ermm:
http://www.galactichunter.com/absoluteig/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&categoryid=3649&text=&imageid=16428&box=&shownew=
It's also interesting that Hasbro thought of reusing the Micro Collection molds!

By Galactichunter.com:
"A number of concepts were shown, none of which were finalized. These include "Micro Collection" stlye figures and playsets, vehicle-based dioramas, and more metal everything. We love the orignal Micro Collection and would jump at new versions... but reruns do not interest us in the slightest. An on-site survey may determine the future of this seemingly successful collectible range."

Hmmm . . . if I had to sum up these new 2" figures in a word it would be LAME. :p
To small and cheap looking, looks like something from the Attactix line.

I heard that rumor over the weekend. That's good news.
If the 2" line releases some of the characters we've talked about on the board (Greedo, Wedge, Quilan Vos), I might buy some. But if the 7" line is coming back, I can wait, too.

I have to agree Hellboy. I was expecting something way different, not Attacktix knock-offs. I hope Unleashed returns soon with some awesome sculpts. There better be a Quinlan Vos or Qui-Gon in the line up if we're putting up with this :ermm:

Yeah I saw the new 2" crap Unleashed. They suck. Hasbro stated that if the 7" line would had sold like it did earlier this year the 2" and 7" Unleashed would had been out together to complement one other. BS. Truth be told if they released better characters the line would had done better. I mean if they would had released Fett and Removable helmet Vader again with some new figures like, ah gee how about QUI GON the line would be doing fine. I still think a Biker scout being attacked with 3 or 4 Ewoks would had been a best seller! Man a Red Royal Guard with his cloak flying in the wind, R2 with all his arms out and door open with a huge surge around him would had worked to. Damn you Hasbro.
