I love the look of the banner and, yes, the red will take some getting used to but it's better than that old lady kitchen green, IMO.

Just a suggestion though, would it be possible to change the colors of the usernames? The puke green on the pale red looks weird. May I suggest the maroon right above them? That would look good. Also, the lightsaber graphics look weird with their gray backgrounds, now that the surrounding area isn't gray.

Other than that, it's perfect. :)

Yes! EXACTLY what I was thinking. I would suggest a dark blue, and keep the "special" ( :crazed: ) people, like JT and Steve, red. ;)

Whew.. I reloaded and BAM... confronted with red. I thought my pc might need a reboot.

I like it if it's temporary. I still prefer the "cool" non-confrontational blue/gray color scheme. Angry, angry, color is red.

Dude I just read your article on the new look on the front page and when I read the the part about this is the last year for SSG, I kind of paniced. Then I read on. I guess that tell you how much I like this site Steve.

As far as the color well to be honest, i does hurt my eyes and the Blue was perfect.

You could go into options and shut off load images and such to help load faster.

That's what I was doing when I was on dial-up, it helped immensely. Also, another tip, switch your Forums Options views to show only the last week of threads if you check regularly, and show only 5 posts per thread page, this cuts down on loadtimes significantly.
