Jawas (http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=6657&cat=796&page=30) , those short, brown robed, will take anything not bolted down, glowing eyed things are this week figure. Part of the last "wave" of the original 12 the Jawa was first available on a 12 back card and can be found on most major card back types. The Jawa is notable for having one of the most desirable variations and one of the most faked. When first released it came with a vinyl cape. But Kenner quickly replaced it with a cloth robe.
I one my favorites. The cloth robe works really well here and I like it better than the vinyl cape. Maybe a belt and that bandolier like thing and Kenner would have had the Jawa nailed. The biggest problem with the robe is it obscures many of the details Kenner work into the figure when it had its vinyl cape. I like the eyes. The paint is just right for them.

This was the very first Star Wars item I ever received. It was Christmas morning of 1978. I opened it so quickly, I never even realized there was a gun (which was one of the best in the SW line, IMHO) in the package. Sadly, I lost this figure, but I did get one fairly soon after, so it's still one of the oldest I own. I never knew of a vinyl cape, but I did always wonder why the bandolier strap was on the inside of the cape. I used the cloth cape as a diguise for many figures, or as Endor camouflage cloaks until those figures finally were made in the POTF line.
p.s. I still say it's "oo-tay-tee," not "oo-tee-nee," by the way. ;)

One of the coolest figures of the ANH line. Cloth cape was kinda ahead of it's time as figures like Luke & Vader had the cheap vinyl capes. Kenner really should have rereleased these and Obiwan with cloth capes.
I don't recall when I got this figure but I did at some point. Only had one. I didn't really play with it much actually as it really wasn't too menacing of an enemy when it was less than 1/2 the height of most of the other figures. I never recalled ever having the gun so I may have thrown it away too. I used it more of a Jabba denizen when I recreated the Jabba scenes.
I never knew about the vinyl cape version until several years ago. Never saw them as a kid but did remember seeing them in toy catalogs and wondered why they appeared like that.
This is one of the very few vintage figures/variations that I still don't have. Probably never will get one as they go ridiculously high and there are so many fakes out there.

Without a doubt, one ofthe most obscure figures in the line. I loved this figure. I used himas a spy, since he was short, he went everywhere unnoticed. I had two of them,so I had a small army. I dont remeber getting them, but I jusyt know I had/still have one left. I gave one to a friend about 8 years ago. I never had the vinyl cape version, but wish I did.

I agree that the cloth cape is better, but I'd trade my Mom for a vinyl cape MOMC. (OK, not my Mom. My brother maybe.) Good point about the gun, Bel-Cam Jos. Very neat. (Kinda looks like those Space lego guns from the 80's).
