Pages Loading More Slowly All the Time...

Anyone else finding this? I'm one of the last remaining dial-up dinosaurs, and I've really noticed. Thought I'd post this in hopes of finding out if there are any adjustments I can make to my settings to speed things up, and to inquire as to whether or not there is a "lite" version of the site (I'd even go text-only if that was an option) that I could opt for. Thanks for any insight.

Oh, I'm running IE again after ditching Mozilla for the umpteenth time.

First thing JJ, dial up is slow, secondly, IE is slower. Try turning off imnages loading and such, should help it load faster

Thanks KH. I've disallowed the showing of Avatars and images (a shame really, Avatars are part of the allure of this place). Now only if I had an option to shut off the display of banners along the sides, I'd really be laughing! ;)

Actually JJ, if you set up a pop up blocker, they will disappear. I had one that blocked them so it can for you too. I forgot which one it is.

Actually, as I'm another dial-upper, I too have noticed that over the past week or so, the SSG pages (all of 'em, not just forums) have been about 15 to 25% slower than usual, and not because of images since I have tested 'em with images turned off and blocked. Dunno what it is really, but I hope it clears up soon, even on my mom's DSL during xmas the site wasn't as fast as it should have been.

The Forums have not moved servers. Just the Photo Gallery.

Everything seems a bit slower for me too (and I'm broadband). Also, on the front page when I click the news links I keep getting "access denied" type messages.

Matt, the news situation should be fixed, was a different issue.
