What's those "stars"?

Dunno if this is the right place to post this query but I would really like to know what is those "stars" that appear under the "Ratings" column and how does that got tagged to the thread?

First off let me point out that I am Grif and not Griff! Anyway maybe we get some sort of award for good ratings. I don't know.

The stars are simply a way to rate the thread. The option is at the bottom of the thread.

I have now added this feature to the reply page to make it more visable. This is actually a very nice feature if everyone uses it.
