Sports Forums???

I was wondering if it would be possible if we could get a sports forum. There are quite a few sports thtreads out there in Gen Disc. Just some food for thought.

Hockey is my favorite also, and the mainsport I follow, but without a season, my participation in such a forum could be minimal...for now. But I do follow the NFL a bit.

I'm up for it. Although it is pretty tough to get excited about sports when your from Michigan even though I watch the Lions every week. And then in turn get disappointed every week.:dis::cry:

I like the idea of a sports forum. Maybe we could sub-divide it to keep the major sports in different threads. Something like:

I. Pro
A. MLB
B. NBA
C. NFL
D. NHL
E. other pro sports

II. Collegiate
A. Basketball
B. Football
C. other collegiate sports

and, of course

III. Yankees (or not) :D

I don't think so, it'd really just be "General Discussion", all the specific sections like TV and Music are there because Star Wars has had forays into those areas, but it's not like Oakland's changing their football team to the "Imperial Stormtroopers" or anything.

But they play the Imperial March at almost every sporting event and fans dress up like Stromtroopers and Vader!
That counts as Star Wars having forays into those areas...yeah I'm stretching.

When I was a kid they were named that after the SW phenomenon only to lose that name in the '90's when they were renamed the Crunch. Now we're back to the Force.

I went to one game as a kid and the sound system was blasting SW music the whole time and Darth Vader even arrived amid smoke and lights to start the game off. Very cool if you are 10 and SW is your vice. :)

I think a Sports section of the forums would be a wonderful idea. It could be added to the section of "Movies / TV / Music" / Sports".

An outstanding idea kh, and gang; clear up the general disc a bit and have all of our sports threads in one local. :thumbsup:
