WHAT?!?!? Have you all gone nuts?!?!? First of all, putting Hayden in this scene is totally stupid. Notice that Kenobi and Yoda appear just as they did when they died and became one with the force, they don't revert to their younger more beautiful selves. Why does Anakin appear as his younger self before he was turned to the dark side? He turned back to the light just before he died, and that's the age he should look as a spirit. Lucas continues to destroy his own legacy. This is the dumbest thing since Greedo shooting first.

I think a lot of folks are more bothered by cutting the actor's role to a minimum, which is quite disrespectful, than of the questions the change raises story-wise.

Viva Sebastian Shaw!

And viva Larry The Anonymous Actor Who Voiced Boba Fett!

Nope, lucas has lost the touch. I've seen much better stuff come from the creative teams for Star Wars nbased video games. Next time Lucas decided to write a movie he should check in with the guys who wrote Knights of the Old republic. Maybe they can give him some pointers. I ask you, who is cooler: HK-47 or Jar Jar? Nuff said. And all of you who call me a hater because i don't clap everytime lucas does something, can bite me. Having anakin appear young is stupid no matter how you spin it.

Anakin appearing young is dumb.

Anakin was redeemed. But he didn't turn to the light.
That's not possible.
Once the The Dark Side is in you, it will never let you go.

Anakin Skywalker is the young Jedi Knight.
He dies at that age.

The change is great.

Don't be that fanatical.

Enjoy the saga as the director wants you to enjoy it.
It's HIS saga after all.

If you don't like the saga as George likes it to be, jump to another wagon, and proceed with your life.

OF COURSE someone who turns to the Dark Side can turn back to the light. That is the whole point of the Saga! And Yoda never said "once you turn to the Dark Side you can never be a good person again." He said, "once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny." Once Anakin turned evil it did forever dominate his destiny. His turning from the Dark Side led to his death. HOWEVER, make no mistake, Anakin was a good person again at the time of his death. Therefore, the image should be of old Anakin, just like it was old Ben, old Yoda. Also, how in the world does Luke recognize this young Jedi?

Anakin did not die when he became Vader. He died in the hangar of the Death Star II. And Anakin did not "come back to life" once he killed the Emperor. Anakin never left. Luke was right, not Ben. There was still good in Vader. Anakin Skywalker was on the blockade runner and on Cloud City. And Luke sensed Anakin in Vader. Vader said, "Tell your sister. You were right." Luke was right about Anakin not having EVER been dead, or completely evil.

Another point made by the Saga is that the Jedi of the Old order were not always right. Luke was right about redemption. Luke was right that a person can become a good Jedi even if trained at an older age.

Don't tell us we are being fanatical by thinking this change is illogical and stupid.

And don't tell me I have to enjoy whatever Lucas tells me to enjoy. If he decided to replace Leia with one of the Olson twins would that be OK with you, just because Lucas said so?

And I don't believe it is just LUCAS' SAGA anymore. He released it into the public domain years ago. He took our money, in exchange for making Star Wars ours too. Of course, legally he can change anything he wants. He could burn the master prints of the original trilogy. But to expect that he can tinker with something people have loved for over twenty years without people having their own opinions in nonsense. Some people like the changes. I like some of the changes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And in my opinion, and in a lot of people's opinion, this change is STUPID.

And don't tell me that if I don't like it to leave it. That line of reasonsing has always made me angry. I am allowed to voice my opinions and continue to love something without abandoning it. I think true love is to love something despite its imperfections. I can love Star Wars (and highly respect George Lucas by the way) without thinking everything done to the films is just fantastic.

I whole heartedly agree! How could you even think of replacing mister Shaw? You would also have to make Yoda and Obi appear as their younger selves otherwise the continuity is completely whack. Then if you do that, wouldn't you have to make all the other scenes with spirit Obi-Wan fit the trend and replace Sir Alec with young Ewen thus wiping out his enormous contribution to Star Wars. I think that this entire thing is just silly and is probably a rumor and no more. If there's one thing Star Wars fans should know it's not to believe everything they read online. Anyone remember seeing the Backstreet Boys in Episode I?

Hat's off, Sirsteve. Lucas is tossing his actors aside just like his loyal fans. We're all expendable. :(

I have enjoyed seeing the trilogy many times and always looked forward to seeing Mr. Shaw in the shot at the end. This new seen will make more sense to the younger viewers, but for me it just doesn't seem right.

Having experienced ROTJ for the last 20 years with Sebastian Shaw as the spirit at the end, he IS Anakin Skywalker. From the moment Luke helped him take his mask off till the moment the end credits ran, Sebastian was the father of Luke Skywalker, the true self that Darth Vader had only forgotten, the man under that mask which still had good in him sensed by his son and which the Emperor could not fully drive out. Sebastian Shaw's likeness is captured as several different Anakin action figures, both 4" and 12", and it's a shame that Lucas has reduced Shaw's contribution from a fully-realized character to simply a prop piece beneath that mask.

I for one will not forget his contribution.

:beard: to you Mr.Shaw, yea though ye hath been sucked down yon Memory Hole, still shall ye ever reside in our bootlegs, VHS's and collections, both vintage and POTFII, and pity on the young among us, who will never know thine true Darth-ness (or is it "-i-tude"???) Amen

Thanks for starting this SirSteve, classy :beard:

man i guess Lucas has lost his #*@! mind. yeah that's what i've waited 25 years for, the special edition movies on dvd and having to look at Annie's face plastered on the end of Jedi. what next? Indian Jones - the p.c. version? "we can't call em nazis so we'll call em.... america deficient." ugh. sorry about that, Mister Shaw, we'll make sure Lucas get ALOT of grief for this one.

Good riddance, and get this crusty old goat out of my SW saga ! ! ! !Caesar, why is young Ani located at a Zombie infested mall? ;)

"Sebastian Shaw - We will not forget."

Sadly, now that big brother Lucas has decided to erase yet another face from the picture, I fear that in time Sebastian Shaw will indeed be forgotten.

Chux, the "actor" whom you refer to as "Larry the Anonymous Actor" does have a name and it is Jason Wingreen. :)
