OK, I've got this organized...

:
Choose between Cliegg Lars and Padme Handmaiden.
I'll go with Padmé here.
Choose 1 from:
Arcona Hem Dazon
General Tagge
Black Bespin Guard
Han Solo Bespin Torture Chair (as a basic figure)
General Veers
Yarna dal Gargon
Tough one, but I'm sticking to my guns and voting for the black Bespin Guard.
Choose your favorite Prequel and Sequel Ultra Figure suggestion.
PREQUELS
Gardulla the Hutt (TPM)
Palpatine on Chancellor's Platform (AOTC)
Qui-Gon Jinn funeral pyre
Nute Gunray on spiderwalker chair, with Holo Sidious pre-posed
I don't really want any of these, but as I have to pick one I'd go with Nute Gunray in his spider chair.
SEQUELS
Han Solo Bespin Torture Chair
Emperor Palpatine with Throneroom chair, window, stairs
Torryn Farr with Hoth Ion Cannon Control Counsel
Ultimate Han Solo Carbon Frozen
An other very tough one as I want both Hans and the Emperor. But I'll go with the Ultimate Han Solo Carbon Frozen. Although I really want to see a Han with Torture Chair, I think the ultimate torture of being frozen in carbonite wins this time.
P.S. I spell it with a S not a C

Well Tycho, over 24 hours without a post. Looks like we're winding down on my favorite thread ever. What's the final vote count? Are we putting classic trilogy vs. prequel trilogy or are we pretty much done? If so, any closing thoughts?

Then we can move on.
We can then figure out the most-wanted Ultra Figure and the most wanted figure from Classics versus Prequels.
If any of the 4 named individuals above don't want to play any more, that's OK - just please let us know.
I might agree with JediTricks that now it is getting down to ridiculous, as we ALL want more than 1-2 or even 16 figures, but for our die-hard enthusiasts here, we can do the vote just for fun.
Right now:
Padme is winning over Cliegg by 1 vote.
Yarna dal Gargon is winning over Hem Dazon by 1 vote.
Ultra Chancellor Palpatine is beating Gardulla the Hutt by 1 vote (they tied last time).
Ultra Han Solo in Torture Chair is beating Torynn Farr by 1 vote, who lost to Ultra Emperor Palpatine last time by 1 vote (who was still behind Han Torture Chair by a single vote as well).
Really, the Ultras weren't supposed to have a Classic run-off. Han Solo won, as he's doing again. If nothing, it does show that the Bespin Torture Chair scene needs to be made and would be highly successful.
It was supposed to be Han challenging Gardulla or CHANCELLOR Palpatine after the prequel winner was sorted out. I predict Han is going to win though.
Know what he never offered? Death Star Gunner with turbolaser. Not sure if he'd have beaten Han Torture though. But comments are welcome as are vote changes for the DSGunner as a write in if someone wants him more than who they voted for.
Meanwhile, the thread is almost over. We should bookmark it and refer back to it as Hasbro does things "right according to us" over the next few years. We'll see what they make, and how far towards the top or bottom of our list they go.
Oh wait - I am going to take Cantina Top 10 write-in lists though. Let's just get this voting thing over with for now.
(but don't include Hem Dazon (our Arcona cantina winner) in your write-in lists anymore - he won already).

I have your Cantina Top 10 already recorded so there's no need to paste them again. Everyone else can get to it if they don't have any votes left until our famous 4 deliberate though.

Nute chair
Han Torture
I would have voted for Han Carbo but he can be done right as a basic, and I would have voted for Palpatine but that sounds more like a playset than anything that'd fit on a Dlx card, and I would have voted for Torryn but I really think that'd be better suited as a dlx with a console (look at how much stuff Elan Sleazbaggano came with).

Tycho, I'm updating my cantina list slightly, since you requested Hem Dazon be kept out of it. I've replaced him with the Brainee.
1. Brea and Senni Tonnika
2. Dannik Jericho
3. Mosep
4. Feltipern Trevagg
5. Miyoom Onith
6. Bom Vimdim
7. Myo
8. Elis Helrot
9. Saurin (which I think can be packed with Rycar Ryjerd)
10. Brainee (I don't know if this guy has a SW name or not)
As for the Death Star gunner and station+ the big anti-spacecraft gun, I think it would need to be a bit more than an ultra. Based on the scale of teh gun from the vintage Death Star playset, this thing would need to be packed in a box about the size of the box for Luke's landspeeder. A nice, painted and detailed version of the gun on a platform with a gunner would be worth the $15-$20 though. But, it's too big to be an ultra.

4. Feltiperm Trevagg the Gotal
5. M'iiyoom Onith, the H'nemthe (Nightlilly)

Personally, I'm more interested in Hasbro going back and remaking many of the core figures than I am in seeing every Cantina or Jabba's Palace character in action figure form.
If this line does die shortly after 2005, then I want to make sure that we get a new Han Stormtrooper, Luke Stormtrooper, and Leia Boushh among others (done with the levels of quality that we see with the VOTC line) before Hasbro calls it quits.

Heh. This thread was winding down, but THE RANCOR PIT really killed it.
However, voting hasn't gone further for the prequel or sequel finalists, and we do (just barely) have winners.
7 Padme Handmaiden
6 Cliegg Lars
Padme wins.
5 Yarna dal Gargon
4 Hem Dazon
Yarna wins??? (the votes are facts, the logic escapes me)
So for those who requested this (and yes, JediTricks, I'll throw a temper tantrum if you don't vote, or I'll cry or something):
CHOOSE THE STAR WARS FIGURE YOU WANT MADE THE MOST:
Padme Handmaiden
Yarna Dal Gargon
(write-ins are acceptable, but vote for one of the two, then state your preferred alternate if there would be any).
After we close this up, we'll recap. But we've already determined what could be made, how long it would take, when most of us would quit, and that there's 6 years at best left in the hobby, counting the stuff from Episode 3.
Oh - I'll vote for Padme Handmaiden, but I'd write in Hem Dazon and finally get that Arcona if I could!

And there aren't enough figures of female characters.

06-29-2004, 01:23 AM
Yarna is pretty much the last of the "essential" Jabba's Palace figures "needed." Hasbro has actually done a good job of keeping the characters from this scene coming. I think anyone who has populated their cardboard Jabba's Palace playset will attest to this. it's pretty crowded, while the Cantina playset looks like Wuher's just counting the minutes until happy hour arrives, or he goes out of business.
In spite of how much I'd like to have Yarna, I'm voting for The Handmaiden It's a much more versatile figure, I'd buy many of them, and it ranks higher on my wish list than Yarna.

Padme, this is a core character we've never gotten done right. Yarna would be nice, but I don't consider her essential.

While Padme Handmaiden is winning as the Most-Wanted Figure off our entire list (by 1 vote over Yarna dal Gargon),
LIST YOUR TOP 10 MOS EISLEY CANTINA FIGURES that haven't been made yet.
LEAVE HEM DAZON (THE ARCONA) OFF THAT LIST.
We are correcting our most-wanted priority list to reflect the fact that Hem kicked the crap out of the other cantina aliens like the Gotal, who lost their chance to compete against the larger list. So we will now add our most wanted Cantina Aliens back in, at a level just lower than Hem Dazon's demand is.
Please list your preferences in order, with Most-Wanted being #1 etc.
Mine are:
1) Feltipern Trevagg - Gotal
2) Herchek Kal Fas - the Saurin
3) Bom Vimdim - the Advose
4) Elris Helrot - the Givin
5) Myo - the Abyssan
6) Reegesk - the Ranat
7) The Tonnika Sisters (whichever, since we can't authorize a 2-pack)
8) Dannik Jeriko - the Anzati vampire
9) Brainiac
10) Zzzvit - the fly-like Brzzzvit (or I got the name and species reversed)
I think M'iiyoom Onith, the H'nemthe (Nightlilly) and Dice Ibegon would also be great to have, but are very scene-specific figures, less useable in dioramas.
Usability in other scenes was my criteria for ordering the figures as I did (except for Brainiac and Zzzvit, who you can barely catch on screen in the movie, but who are interesting nevertheless).
I already have B'Omarr Monkey's and Droid's lists.
Your No. 1 pick will be compared to all the others, points will be assigned, and the one with the most demand will enter the contest next, and then so-on down our list to double check our Master List for accuracy with regards to Cantina Aliens.
List away and finish voting between Padme and Yarna please.

1) Myo - the Abyssan

4) Reegesk - the Ranat
5) Feltipern Trevagg - Gotal
6) The Tonnika Sisters (whichever, since we can't authorize a 2-pack)
7) M'iiyoom Onith - the H'nemthe
8) Brainiac
9) Tzizvvt - the Brizzit

So what happens to those of us who don't actually want 10 of these? I'm just putting in order the ones I'd have any interest in...
Tonnika sister (either)
Hmm... well, I didn't realize that list would be so short when you took out Hem Dazon & Kitik (who is confirmed now for mass-release in a 3pack). I honestly thought there'd be 3 or 4 from the original options on this thread. I even went back to my original assessment of those choices and double-checked...
the Gotal (Feltripern Trevagg) - who? probably not.
the Arcona (Hem Dazon) - yes, definitely.
the Givin (Elris Helrot) - probably not.
the Advoze (Bom Vimdim) - I don't think so.
the Abyssan (Myo) - who?
the Anzati vampire (Dannik Jerriko) - very unsure.
Brea or Senni Tonnika (this is not a 2-pack. assume you get one) do you want it?) - yes, absolutely, doubles of this.
Zvvvst (Brzzzt - "the Fly") - no.
Kitik Keed Kak (mass released so everyone can get her) - possibly.
the Lamproid (Dice Ebegon) - how would this work? Likely not.
the Saurin (Fal Chas) - nope.
Brainiac (who's brain you can see) - no way. and then I went to SW.com and looked up all these "who?" characters in the 6-page-long Cantina Roll-Call feature (http://www.starwars.com/episode-iv/feature/20030502/indexp2.html) to get better acquainted. They had 'em all, but what I found was that I liked most of these even less than I had remembered (updated opinions underlined and bold):
the Gotal (Feltripern Trevagg) - absolutely not
the Givin (Elris Helrot) - absolutely not
the Advoze (Bom Vimdim) - absolutely not
the Abyssan (Myo) - absolutely not
the Anzati vampire (Dannik Jerriko) - probably not
Zvvvst (Brzzzt - "the Fly") - no.
the Lamproid (Dice Ebegon) - absolutely not
the Saurin (Fal Chas) - nope.
Brainiac (who's brain you can see) - no way.
the only one that came up was Dannik, and not by a whole lot. As much as I dig the Cantina, these are the dregs of the dregs and I wouldn't want figures of 'em.

Market viability. There were plenty of moisture farmers walking around Mos Eisley (regular humans) so it's logical that we have to have some minimal standard to avoid pegwarming.
Next, we answer how much the market could bare. We polled 211 figures, about half of which took votes. Doesn't mean the other half wasn't wanted, it just means they had tough contenders.
In the cantina, Hem Dazon took down everyone who went up against him, Dannik Jerikko, etc. That's great and means he's the most wanted, but that doesn't mean that only 105 figures, or our Top 45 list is accurate or even all that's this viable for Hasbro.
The cantina creatures are very different in their forms and features. Sculpting stuff that's weird and different from the average turns out like artwork to me. Like the Elom recently, it's very different from a Luke figure that's essentially barely different from a GI Joe save for his choice of weapon. So we're double checking the areas that had clear winners, and looking to see if we were accurate, or if a Count Dooku Softgoods resculpt is more in demand than the Tonnika Sisters. Since we'd all doubt that (possibly), we're doing an experiment.
If the answer is "you're not interested," or "you're not participating" than your attitude could be taken for "you don't care if SW collecting dies out earlier."
I don't need it to go on forever and feel (save for E3) that we are over the hump, but there are a few more figures I'd like. One thing for sure is that cantina aliens and some droids are more interesting to me than the majority of the Top 45 here. They need to be added to my scenes for sure, but I have to confess, I was once the most excited over getting an Obi-Wan Episode 2 figure - Coruscant Chase actually - and then once I had him, I wanted other characters. (However a cloaked E2 Obi-Wan (dry hair) would be awesome, especially since it's so overdue).
But that's why we're checking cantina aliens, Jabba's maybe, possibly podracers, etc.
When will the hobby die? What is left that's marketable.
Of course a SW TV show might turn this whole thing upside down, but we can't count on that - or even that it might not star characters we have action figures of already.

Ok I'll go with Yarna dal Gargon. An ROTJ figure beats a TPM most days. Plus the fact that Yarna was close to being a vintage figure doesn't hurt.
And I'd don't have a top ten list. I feel the important figures have been made. That and I don't have the time to make one.
Tycho
07-06-2004, 02:49 PM
With that, the votes are CLOSED.
YARNA DAL GARGON has won the most-wanted figure out-of-everything possible left to be made!
Why? I couldn't explain it, but many participating in this thread have (largely due to how Jabba's 6 breasted fat dancer was going to be a vintage figure once upon a time, etc.)
But Yarna beats Padme as a Handmaiden by 1 vote! So our SW figure preferences here are as split as the vote was in the election of 2000.
Your comments are welcome.
The thread is not dead yet of course.
In asking for MOS EISLEY CANTINA characters that many of you felt had more merit being on our Prioritized Top 45 Most-Wanted List (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showpost.php?p=333142&postcount=478) .
I have used your list of preferences and came up with our group's Top 6 which were effectively leading the pack. Each will be sent in by order of preference and seen how they effectively climb the list, refining our choices as such.
They are:
1) Tonnika Sister (non-specified)
2) Gotal, Feltipern Trevagg
3) Anzati, Dannik Jerriko
4) Givin, Elris Helrot
5-tie) Advoze, Bom Vimdim
5-tie) Abyssan, Myo
This is entirely matching results with the Mos Eisley Cantina creature poll I wrote for SirSteves main site almost 2 years ago. So the results are without question, very accurate.
We'll start by seeing if Brea or Senni are more wanted than the first group of characters from our Top 45 list who did not beat Hem Dazon (our Cantina champion). If the lady loses (this is not a 2-pack), then she'll take on another group of challengers. (but note she will not be automatically disqualified. However, the Gotal cannot compete until the Tonnika Sister has been placed - so you are only voting for the Tonnika, or the figure you want more than her from the following list...)
So now...
CHOOSE THE FIGURE YOU WANT THE MOST FROM:
Tonnika Sister (Brea or Senni)
General Tagge
Moff Jerjerrod, Death Star Commander
Sly Moore
Jango Fett out of armor
Lando Calrissian Smugglers Gear
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Slim Aloo, Imperial Dignitary
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Gragga Chubba Vendor
Padme from Palpatine's Office, Senator
Sora Bulq, Weequay Jedi Master
I honestly need several figures more than I need a Tonnika Sister:
Sly Moore
Slim Aloo, Imperial Dignitary
Padme from Palpatine's office
It's really a tough call, but a main character not-yet-made is obviously important, so I'll say Senator Padme from Palpatine's Office.

Tycho you said something that sparked an idea that I thought may be good new direction for this thread. I thought it would be good to validate the list of 211 or and subtract from it. To do this would mean we would need A) vote on all 211 on if we would want to buy it yes or no (not maybe, if they do it right, etc). B) establish a percentage/minimum of votes to consider it a valid desired figure. C) revote for any write it choices.
So anyone interested?
Tycho
07-07-2004, 02:11 PM
Not really :)
JediTricks suggested something about voting out the losers too.
I actually think that maybe I have an idea of how to do this:
The first list we voted on was something like:
Padme Handmaiden - who went all the way obviously
Tey How
Daudry Dofine
Blue Battledroid
Rep Teers
Palpatine Hologram
Nute Hologram
I don't recollect all 10 or so at the moment, but you get the idea.
What I did was
1) identified the winner (Padme) and put her into TPM finals, Prequel finals, total all-time finals (where she lost by 1 vote to Yarna). I did the same with each category.
2) I wrote the Master List (Top 45) as such: Dauldry Dofine had 4 votes from this list. Padme in her yellow dress from AOTC had 4 votes as well. I compiled a list - remember? 12 Votes Padme Handmaiden, 6-7 votes Jango Fett out of Armor, 7 votes General Tagge, etc. etc. and then when I listed the 4 vote getters, Dauldry Dofine made that part of the list. I think the list went down to those that got 3 votes like CZ-9 who made the cutoff for the Top 45.
3) folks left off the list but still counted in the larger list of about 100 figures were ones like Nyrat Agira (girl in red thong in Club Outlander). She had at least 1 person want her figure more than Jocasta Nu or Jango Fett in that category. So Nyrat is more in demand than say Random Moisture Farmer from streets of Mos Eisley who got zero votes.
I don't think Nyrat needs to be put back into any voting category, as someone wanting her next to Jango Fett speaks volumes about her feasibility next to a Random Moisture Farmer or even a black X-wing Pilot or another Dresselian from the Endor Briefing Scene.
These characters, the bottom of the barrel, are pointless to debate to me. We know Nyrat would get one vote, but unless Hasbro suddenly does a left-face and produces The Random Moisture Farmer action figure, I don't see why we need to debate his demand level.
I can publish our Top 100 or so with the 1 vote getters a Gungan Band Member and Biggs Darklighter in his Academy Uniform, but I think I did that already.
Just the same, I think the point of this thread was to take the list, create a Top 50 and a larger pool of 100 or so, and then make a checklist for Hasbro.
Obviously this group wants Yarna Dal Gargon and Moff Jerjerrod made as matters of priority.
When Hasbro has produced our Top 100 or so, I think it's appropriate to revisit this thread and vote for whichever Random Moisture Farmer should be made next.
In the meantime, we are placing the possible CANTINA characters we overlooked into the ranks and adjusting the Top 45, or making it a good Top 50 or so by the best method I know.
Since the list is already ranked order by priority demand, No cantina alien should come in before Hem Dazon. So they don't need to compete with Padme Handmaiden or Senator Yarua (8 votes, 1 more than Hem Dazon got) for that reason.
So Brea or Senni Tonnika is competing with the list that we are voting on - "6 vote-getters" and less since she'd lost to Hem Dazon (7 votes) since we first looked at the cantina.
Right now it looks like a Sister is not more in demand than Jerjerrod for example, but might be more in demand than Sora Bulq, Gragga, Chief Chirpa, Treva Horme, Sly Moore, and that's about it.
When everyone's voted, I don't care if a Sister ties with Lando Smuggler's Gear, they can share closely the same spot on the list.
Next Sly Moore, Chirpa, Horme, Master Sora, etc. will have to take on the Gotal to keep their place.
When a cantina alien can no longer place above the bottom of our list (which includes Herme Odel from Jabba's Palace), we stop messing with the lesser demanded Cantina Aliens like Brainiac or Zzivvt who probably won't make our list (but you never know).
The next logical thing to do to tighten up our priority list would be to check Jabba's Palace Members, Podracers, and Senators - characters that got shut out because someone like Senator Yarau took all the votes with them.
But if we don't see Hasbro produce a figure of Luke in the Medical Frigate Recovery Room (2 votes), why should we fret about Wes Janson at this point? This is an in-demand list and Hasbro should work it from top to bottom and the likelihood that they make our Top 10 even between now and when 2005 sees 50 E3 figures is very slim.
FYI that means:
Yarna
Padme Handmaiden
Queen Amidala Purple Return to Naboo
Queen Amidala white Theed Celebration
Senator Yarua - Wookiee
Cliegg Lars
Black Bespin Security Guard
R2D2 Shield Bunker exploded
Mother Ewok with baby Wokling
Jocasta Nu
And I mean that list could be tightened up more because personally Hem Dazon is off of it by 1 space (actually a Top 10 doesn't exist, because like Jocasta Nu, Hem Dazon got 7 votes). But what would be the point? I haven't seen a Cliegg Lars prototype or rumor floating around the net at all. But presumably, if we were right, these figures here would sell to a majority of us more than a Wes Janson figure, and definitely more than a Random Moisture Farmer action figure.
Here in this thread we'll always have the Ultimate "What's Left?" List - but until Hasbro crunches some of the best of them, there's no point prioritizing or ruling out the worst of them in my opinion.

I have a question. I am happy with any cantina alien they give us, but why do so many people want the Givin, Elris Helrot? I can not for the life of me find him in the movie. Is he seen in the movie? If so, what shot? Was he only seen in Lucas' first edit of the cantina (which is on the Star Wars CD-ROM)? Is he just seen in pictures taken from the set? Is he an Expanded Universe character?

The Givin appears to sort of look like the Scream mask. Having never gotten into the Scream movies, I could care less.
In the ongoing series, Quinlan Vos teamed up with a Givin on his mission against the Nightsisters of Dathomir. (Quinlan Vos is Aayla Secura's former master). The Givin was a seriously cool character in that one. Of course EU fans would need a Quinlan figure as well though.
Meanwhile, It appears that the Tonnika Sister has placed in demand more highly than: Sly Moore, Treva Horme, Chief Chirpa, Gragga, and Sora Bulq. These 5 along with the next group down the list, will take on Feltipern Trevag the Gotal, in our next Cantina-placement poll.
Choose the figure you want made the most from:
Feltipern Trevag, the Gotal
Sly Moore
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Gragga Chubba Vendor
Sora Bulq, Weequay Jedi
General Veers
Han Solo Bespin Torture Chair
Luke Skywalker Endor Gear
Wald
Kitster
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Padme in yellow from the Waterfalls
Dooku's Pilot Droid
And here, I'd definitely go for the Gotal myself as it'd be the most useful in my dioramas.
I really want Sora Bulq, Padme in yellow from the Waterfalls, General Veers (we're supposedly getting him though), Gragga, Sly Moore, Treva Horme. I back Han in the Bespin Torture Chair as an Ultra Figure (but think he'd be great, too!)
Anyway, let's see how the Gotal does...

OK, the Gotal clearly places in our list. We're looking for the point where the next most popular Cantina Alien isn't even wanted. Meanwhile, the Top 45 can be extended to a Top 50 - but perhaps some of our choices will eventually be getting cut out?
We'll see.
The Anzati Vampire and pipe-smoker Dannik Jerriko is our next most-demanded Cantina alien.
Choose the figure you want made the most from:
Dannik Jerriko, Anzati pipe smoker
Sly Moore
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Sora Bulq, Weequay Jedi
Wald
Kitster
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Padme in yellow from the Waterfalls
Dooku's Pilot Droid
CZ-3 from Mos Eisley Spaceport
Personally, from this batch, I'd go with Padme in yellow from the Waterfalls because she'd make a very colorful and detail-sculpted figure.
Many of this group could actually, but Padme would allow me to do a scene (albeit a small one with Anakin) that I wouldn't ordinarily be able to do. The other scenes the other characters fit into can get done without them - they'd just be better having those figures overall though.

I'm afraid not one of those is tempting, so the LLTA vote ends up with Dannik, followed by Dooku's droid. I might actually buy a CZ-3, but he freaks me out and looks too out of place to end up anywhere but in the back of my collection.

Well, it looks like a lot of our recurring characters got off our bottom feeder list (mind you they are all still in the Top 45, just not the most exciting or top of the list for everyone - echoing JediTricks' comment)
So we'll throw in the next Cantina alien at the whole bottom of the barrel. These figures all got 3 votes as least, placing them above those with only dual and singular constituents.
The Givin, Elris Helrot (Deoxy's favorite, but one I like a lot too) gets this spot.
The Abyssan and Advoze (Myo and Bom Vimdim) scored higher on the site's official cantina poll, but here in our thread they tied. So I'm going to let the Givin (who beat them here in our thread) go ahread of them as you asked (well the majority here anyway). But all 3 of these Cantina aliens will compete against the same group at the bottom of our 45 list - so it's all fair and it doesn't really matter who goes first.
Elris Helrot is up.
Choose the figure you want made the most from:
Elris Helrot, the Mos Eisley Cantina Givin
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Wald
Kitster
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
-Padme in her Nightgown
-Padme as refugee from freighter
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor
Young Owen Lars
-Count Dooku / Darth Tyranus Softgoods
Naboo Clergyman, marries Anakin and Padme
R5D4
Colonel Wulf Yularen, Imperial Conference Table
Klaatu, remake of vintage figure from Jabba's
Herme Odel
I'll vote Padme in her nightgown. I can't do the scene where Obi-Wan leaps out the window after the assassin droid as Anakin slices the kohouns and R2 beeps an alert to Captain Typho (all while Jango Fett and Zam Wessel look on from a ledge on another building in my collage of a scene) if I don't have the target of the assassins: Padme! Besides she looks beautiful with her hair down and they could add the outer blue robe she wore over her nightie from the Naboo balcony scene which I could do using Outlander Anakin - or a custom with his head, the outer poncho, and a Luke v-OTC body if I wanted to go for slightly more accuracy (I doubt we'd see an Anakin in his bedshirt from that scene).
But Klaatu is awfully tempting, while Young Uncle Owen more than necessary. Elris Helrot is great and all - but a luxury and you can do the cantina scene without him (not that I want to - but I can only choose one character and I chose Padme).
But I'd buy Daultry, Herme, Treva, the Clone, E.T., and Wald and probably all of them - Padme is just the highest priority because of 2 scenes. The Givin would be mighty useful though -so I hope he qualifies.

Welcome to our thread Paul (and Veers). For over a month (maybe 2 - I think) we have been assembling a final list of every figure never made before (or updated in the case of figures Kenner made back in the 80's). Since we did it scene by scene and characters like Hem Dazon, the Arcona (a highly demanded figure if there ever was one) dominated the cantina group, we are now seeing how others that "lost" votes to Hem Dazon, fair next to the total, PRIORITIZED (to some extent) list of the top vote-getters.
There were 211 figures possible - in all total - including ones that got NO votes. This is from all 5 movies. About half this amount got votes as at least somebody's first-pick from a group of characters introduced in and around specific scenes as we went through every movie scene-by-scene.
Well, the list is by no means perfect, though most agree it's highly reflective of what everyone posted here. But the cantina aliens would have placed much higher, were it not for Hem Dazon to have shut them out so completely.
So we listed everyone's top 10 cantina characters they'd want made (after Dazon) and then I singled out an order for each one's preference based on people's top picks, second choices, etc.
Now we're seeing where they fall into the list below, adding each alien into subcategory competition with the rest of the possible figures who ranked lower in demand than the previous cantina alien.
Guys, please note that Jabba's courtiers could be looked at this way, but Klaatu (and formerly Herme Odel) cling very close to the bottom of the list. I don't see a real need to test Jabba aliens because: 1/4 of our SSG poll winners for Jabba's Palace were made this year (Bubo, J'Quille, Tanus, Rappertune) and 3 more (Yarna, Herme, Klaatu) made our list already for 7/12 of the best of Jabba's picks. There are only 5 strong remainders for Jabba's: BJ-368, Ak-Rev, Umpuss Stay, Shasha Teil (an Ishi Tibb), and Sgt. Doallyn (who I really want myself) who could challenge the bottom feeders on our Top 50 list. They will have to challenge only figures under KLAATU who is now our lowest-in-demand Palace Denizen. So it's possible depending upon Klaatu's performance. We also had "the human who shoots Luke's hand," and a few others from the skiffs we had as write-ins - so we'll see where Klaatu lands and who could feasibly get bumped out of our Top 50 - because in deed, some of the bottom feeders will eventually be leaving so that in all fairness, we have some semblance of accuracy.
Anyway, keep voting for the Elris Helrot group listed above. I have 6 regular votes counted, and I'll wait for at least 9 as our group has gotten much smaller than the bunch that comprised the Master List previously.
Here's what the Master List looks like as of today (with new Cantina winners added):
Yarna dal Gargon, Jabba's Fat Dancer
-Padme Handmaiden
-Queen Amidala Purple Return to Naboo
-Queen Amidala white Theed Celebration
Senator Yarua - Wookiee
Cliegg Lars
Black Bespin Security Guard

-Padme in her Nightgown

Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
-Padme as refugee from freighter
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor
Naboo Clergyman, marries Anakin and Padme
R5D4
Klaatu, remake of vintage figure from Jabba's
There are 49 figures currently on this list. Cantina aliens in order of highest demand to lowest, will continue to compete with the bottom-feeders on this list (who are still above and beyond a lot of other characters who got less votes than some members of this group did), so the second to next alien, if demanded more than any of the bottom group above, will push the last one on the list off and out of our Top 50.
Continue to vote in the Elris Helrot ranking poll. Add your comments on Jabba's Denizens. Remember that Klaatu will have to get out of the bottom position for his colleagues to even compete.

And I just would like to note, that as Hasbro likes to continuously offer the main characters so that parents and casual collectors have figures they would recognize while shopping, we've recommended the following from the "regular 20":
Padme Handmaiden
Queen -purple
Queen -white
Lando - smugglers gear
Luke - Endor Gear
Han -Torture chair
R2D2 - shield bunker
Padme - yellow by the waterfalls
Padme - nightgown
Count Dooku -softgoods
Padme as refugee (freighter)
Clone Trooper (in red jumpsuit, out of armor)
Padme - Palpatine's Office
Jango Fett - out of armor
to a lesser extent we had Princess Leia (Endor), Obi-Wan (AOTC), Anakin (AOTC), Palpatine (AOTC), Luke (medical frigate) and others I'm probably forgetting voted for. If Hasbro needs to rehash the "regular 20" - we've suggested the best way.
* the regular 20 are the main characters from each movie (and there's actually 22 of them about now)
1)Han
2)Luke
3)Leia
4) Chewie
5)R2
6) C-3PO
7) Vader
8) Stormtrooper
9) Obi-Wan
10) Qui-Gon
11) Anakin
12) Padme
13)JarJar
14)Darth Maul
15) Battle Droid
16) Mace
17) Yoda
18) Dooku
19) Jango
20) Clone Trooper
21) Boba Fett
22) Lando
In other words, kids would need the above characters to recreate SW play regarding having all the main characters. So if "for ages 4 and Up" and you turned 4 today, you'd need those listed immediately above to affect fun, basic SW play - and you'd need to find them easily for mom to get on her way to Target or Wal-Mart while buying groceries. In that scenerio, no one's looking for Yarna dal Gargon (our collector-top-vote-getter). Yarna who? Yuck!
Anyway, REGULARS TO THIS THREAD - don't miss my previous post above this one. There's important considerations about Jabba's Palace in my long diatribe. Sorry to ramble...

and Sgt. Doallyn (who I really want myself)
I'll second that motion. He's high up on my list of Jabba's palace characters.
the top 3 for me are Sgt. Doallyn, Herme Odle and Yarna. As far as the cantina/tatooine my top 3 are Elis of course, CZ-3 and Hem dazon. These 6 figs would be a welcome addition to my collection and dioramas.
We also had "the human who shoots Luke's hand,"
Is that the one that looks like Randy Quaid, or was it another human character on the barge??? Anyway, there's a human guard that looks like Randy Quaid on that barge...that would be an awesome figure! :)
Tycho
07-15-2004, 03:44 AM
I'm not sure who Randy Quaid is. Dennis Quaid played Doc Holiday in Wyatt Earp and he didn't do a bad job of it.
Meanwhile...
It looks like Elris Helrot placed and less and less people are voting during our Cantina Creature Placement Polls. (The CCPP ;) )
That mean less people will object when I run Bom Vimdim before Myo. The Advoze and Abyssan both tied in our poll, as they coincidently (or not) also did in the Official SSG Cantina Character Poll. That being said, I can do 1 at a time since they both tied last time. Dealer's choice - and Bom Vimdim gets unleashed.
So Choose The Figure You Want Made The Most From:
Bom Vimdim, the Advoze from Mos Eisley Cantina
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Wald
Kitster
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
-Padme as refugee from freighter
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor
Naboo Clergyman, marries Anakin and Padme
R5D4
Klaatu, remake of vintage figure from Jabba's
I'm torn between Bom Vimdim and Klaatu. Personally, I think Klaatu would make a more interesting figure. Especially with their Nikto sculpts they have now (from the Nikto Jedi Sirch Fi Eck) they could add a nice removeable battle helmet to a green Nikto and create quite a cool figure. Well, scratch the part about using Sirch's head. Green Niktos and Red Niktos have some different facial features. But still, this vintage figure (used to wear the sheepskin skirt) could use a great modern update.

OK interest in refining the list has waned down to 6-7 people. Now all of you stay with me. Comic Con is next week. We need to finalize refinement of the list.
All votes from today and hereafter are critical, because whatever character is at the bottom of the list with no votes is bumped off our top 50!
R5D4 is hanging on by a thread right now. Basically, he gets one vote and he's bumped up. Meanwhile the last of the cantina aliens who won write-ins will challenge the bottom bunch.
Whomever is last on the list after any addition - won't be coming back again until our list of in-demand figures is satisfied (via Hasbro production, whatever). Many characters we'd wanted, like Torynn Far (although she ranked highly as an Ultra), are off already.
"You must choose. But choose wisely."
Myo, the Abyssan is today's Cantina challenger. Will the one-eyed-guy see one vote?
Choose the figure you'd want the most from:
Myo, the Abyssan from the Mos Eisley Cantina
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Wald
Kitster
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
-Padme as refugee from freighter
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor
Naboo Clergyman, marries Anakin and Padme
R5D4
From this list, Myo gets my vote with Treva Horme being a very close second. Other podracers I'd want more than Ben Quadrinaros came to mind, but I don't have that luxury until we get through to that subcategory.
Other subcategories I want to try are
Jabbas - must rank lower than Klaatu
Podracers - must rank lower than Ben Quadrinaros
Senators - must rank lower than ET
Niemoidians - must rank lower than Daultry Dofine (Tey How, or Separatist)
Ewoks - must rank lower than Chief Chirpa (Lumat, Romba, Paploo, Warok, Keolkeesh)
Bespin - must rank lower than Treva Horme (woman, Ice Cream Maker, Wiorkettle, etc)
Hoth - must rank lower than General Veers (Torryn Farr, Mjr. Derlin, Hoth Reb,etc)
End of ESB - must also rank under General Veers- this'll be a tough challenge...(Luke, Leia from medical frigate, etc.)
And they are all fighting to be on the bottom of this list.
Plus we can finish the finalists for Ultra figures.
Hurry up and vote. We're running out of time!

OK, the way this worked was that the Naboo Clergyman, who marries Anakin and Padme got kicked off our Top 50 list since no one is defending him. If you want him back, you risk kicking off someone else.
The next character to drop off is: -Clone Trooper in red, out of armor.
This guy I personally want. Challenging the bunch on the bottom of our list is going to be Hrchek Kal Fas, the Saurin, one of the stunted lizard people that have heads sort of like Bossk.
Unfortunately, Saurin are very useful aliens in dioramas and Kal Fas presents a problem for me, since I want to vote to keep that Clone Trooper in red, out of armor....
Well,
Choose the figure you'd want the most from:
Hrchek Kal Fas, Saurin from Mos Eisley Cantina
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
Wald
Kitster
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
-Padme as refugee from freighter
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor
Here I'll have to support my Clone Trooper to keep him from falling off our Top 50 list. I wouldn't cry if maybe a couple others went from the bottom of this list, but tehre isn't one figure listed here that I wouldn't buy.
But I'll bump the Clone Trooper.

PlasticFetish, we're refining the list - and very rapidly I might add.
When we took the Cantina poll, or any other specific scene, or collage of scenes, one character ruled out the others - sometimes by extremes.
When I prioritized the list, obviously section winners like Hem Dazon who had 7 votes out of nearly 20 cast, ranked high as a section winner, an ANH finalist, and a Sequel Trilogy finalist (who only lost to Yarna Dal Gargon). But what happened was that other characters like the Givin, only got 1 vote, Dannik Jerriko did a little better with 2, Bom Vimdim got 2, etc. The rest of the cantina cast was split up by their partisan fans.
Now Daultray Dofine, the Niemoidian captain competed in a round weeks ahead of the Cantina group's. He got 3 votes, but Padme as a handmaiden with her 12 vote knock-out, shut him down and out of the competition.
Well, when it came to making a Top 50 list, it took more than just the winners of each round: TPM and AOTC had 5 winners, ROTJ 4, ANH 3, and ESB 2. Sure we could get a Top 19 out of that, but the characters had enough votes to place them in the Top 19 on the larger Top 50 list anyway. So scientifically speaking, we were doing alright. That being said, I then filled in a Top 45 with every character receiving as many as 3 votes actually, evenly filling out the list which happened to equal 45 (I was looking for a Top 50 in the first place).
Well, since Daultry Dofine got 3 votes and Bom Vimdim got 2, but they never competed, is it fair to say that Dofine is wanted more than Vimdim? Vimdim never faced Padme as a Handmaiden, and Dofine never faced Hem Dazon. They'd lose obviously, but what priority to fans place between Dofine and Vimdim? Who is more urgently wanted in production as a new piece to add to our collection?
I simply started taking category losers, like the Tonnika Sisters, who came in 2nd to Hem Dazon, and pitting them against the next 10 figures (from all categories) who ranked LOWER than Dazon. Once the Tonnika Sisters placed, I took the Gotal (who lost to the Tonnika Sisters) and put him in competition with every character who ranked beneath Brea and Senni.
As we get to the bottom of the list (of those who made the Top 45) by adding characters, we are getting up to 51, 52, etc. If we want a Top 50, then the bottom rung of the ladder must be cut out. The Clergyman who married Anakin and Padme from the wedding scene got cut out, and right now Padme as a Refugee from the Freighter (when R2 brings them bread and Anakin wears just the vest in the Outland Peasant Disguise scene) is in danger of being kicked off our Top 50 list. Somebody will be, because by adding Hrchek Kal Fas, we'll have 51 figures on our list. So this exercise refines the list and checks demand for Cantina figures. If someone votes for Padme Outland Peasant Disguise, (whatever you want to call her) than E.T. will drop off the list (which is fine by me, since we don't even know if Speilberg will allow Hasbro the licensing - but I voted to keep the Clone Trooper in red, so I can't help Padme (hint).)
In any case, Chief Chirpa just got a bump on our list. We have some Ewoks to look at, but none defeated him (except the mommy'Wok who is way high on our list) but any others like Paploo's Resculpt that want to try to make the list, have to challenge characters like Dooku's Pilot Droid that now rank under Chief Chirpa, to see if they belong on our list. We are trying to get through all the best Cantina possibilities now and have 3 possible left (that made people's Top 10 Cantina Aliens write-in list I'd asked for), so as soon as one doesn't place over other figures on our list, we'll check Ewoks, Jabbas, Senators, Podracers (ranking under Ben Quadrinaros of course) etc.
But we have to hurry. Does everyone understand what I'm doing? How this works? I think I figured out a very fair and unbiased way to do this that helps validate our list. Right?
So continue on the Hrchek Kal Fas poll and
Choose the figure you'd want the most from:
Hrchek Kal Fas, Saurin from Mos Eisley Cantina - 2 votes already counted
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader - 1 vote already counted

Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
Dooku's Pilot Droid

Amazing. A lot of people are returning to this thread. That's great! I love the increased participation.
Regretfully, Padme Outland Peasant Disguise (refugee on freighter), has been dropped from our list.
You can bring her back in, but E.T. will fall off.
Hrchek Kal Fas has placed, and now we will vote on M'iiyoom Onith, the female companion of the Gotal Feltirpern Trevag.
Vote on the Character You'd most like to see made next:
M'iiyoom Onith, Mos Eisley Cantina
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Wald
Kitster
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
Well, though I hated that outfit, I'm going to write back in Padme Outland Peasant Disguise, as we need a figure to go with that Anakin, plus they could make that 6 armed server droid we seemed to have forgotten in this whole polling process. Put those 3 with R2D2 and surround them with a few of your favorite alien figures and you have yourself a nice little freighter scene from an oft overlooked part of the movie.
E.T. now becomes the endangered figure here. I just plan to go to Universal Studios Hollywood and buy 8 of his figures at the 3 3/4" size and settle that. There's little liklihood that Hasbro will get to use Speilberg's character, especially with another company licensed to do it.
He's my first pick to slide off this list. Plus I was never that particularly fond of the Nightlily (M'iiyoom Onith) character anyway.

Tycho if we have time before comic con can we vote to add beru and owen from AOTC. I remember them being a lot of people's 2nd and 3rd choices.
Right now, the bottom of our Top 50 list looks like this (with E.T. about to drop off like the Naboo Clergyman did):
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
M'iiyoom Onith, Nightlily from Mos Eisley Cantina
-Padme as refugee from freighter
Treva Horme, Cloud City alien
Dooku's Pilot Droid
Wald
Kitster
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian
Ann / Tan Gella, Twi'lek girls
ET Senator
We can introduce classes of characters from their rounds to challenge the others on the list under their respective category leaders. I'd like to get Ewoks over with quickly in short order soon, for example. Keolkeech is the only other Ewok (besides Chirpa and the Mother w. Wokling) that got a vote. I can take a top 5 write in, but I'm not sure it would be worth it. Keolkeech, or the top write-in winner, would have to be wanted more than any on the list above (this post).
Now Beru got 1 vote (since she went up against Owen, Cliegg (who won) etc.) Now I'd have to check, but she could possibly go in as high on our list as just under Owen, but I'm not sure how fair that is going to be, since the bottom of our list like Ann / Tan Gella, the Twi'lek girls got at least 3 votes in their category (going up against Wald, Kitster, Ben Quadrinaros, and Gragga - the category winner). Beru didn't fair even that well, but she did compete out of her category. Other characters like Padme in her alternate Tatooine dress, Shmi Skywalker, etc. competed to take votes away from any Lars Homestead choice. In the cantina scene poll, the demand was all focused on characters from one location, and Hem Dazon is the most wanted from that scene, so he basically shut out equals that all would have stood a chance had they competed in an open competition.
dindae

Well I went back to double check myself. Here are the people who expressed intrest in the other Lars family members. Now how fair it is I can't say, but I don't think any less fair than adding cantina figures who got no votes the first round like M'iiyoom Onith.
Well, part of me really wants to vote for Owen. Beru's a very close second to that and I'm almost not sure that I can choose one alone. So, instead of splitting up the couple, I'll go for the most "fun" option (for me anyway) on the list -- Toonbuck Toora.
This round is much more exciting. I'm pretty tonr on Clieg and Owen but I think Clieg Lars would just be a more interesting action figure so I'll vote for him.
The Lars family, Tonbuck and Palpatine are all musts as far as I am concerned. However I will chuck palpy for the Lars and Tonbuck. I honestly want the Lars over Tonbuck so he/she has got to go. That leaves us with the Lars. I want to see Owen and Beru very very badly. They should allready be made since they had more lines than half the Episode II figs made so far. Still Clieg has to win because we have never seen any figure of him before. We do have the older version of Beru and Owen, but we have never had a Clieg Lars figure before, and they need to make him NOW!
I'd like both Owen and Beru...but since we can only have 1...
Owen Lars
Owen-Beru. How do you pick between the two? I don't know (so don't tell me, I avoid spoilers), but I am guessing that Owen and Beru will be in Episode III, so maybe we could get figures of them then. I guess (BUT I DON'T KNOW) that Cliegg won't be in Episode III, so this may be our only shot. Also, his hover chair would be a unique feature. These are incredibly
significant figures that need to be made.
I vote for Cliegg.
I'm voting for Toonbuck Toora, beacuse she is a cool looking alien.
While I'd also love to see the Lars familay, it was too hard to choose between them, though I suspect I'd lean towards Cliegg for the uniqueness of the figure. the only other one I'm particularly interested in is the red Palpatine.

You are jumping the gun a little Kidhuman.
On the M'iiyoom Onith Poll, Chief Chirpa is not competing (he's already placed a spot for himself on the list).
Voting in this poll so far was
Tycho for Padme Outland Peasant
Droid for M'iiyoom Onith
Dindae for M'iiyoom Onith
PlasticFetish for Treva Horme
Hellboy for Dooku's Pilot Droid
Kidhuman for ??? (revote for one of the competitors please)
DEOXYRIBO for ???
JEDITRICKS for ???
ROCKETBOYfor ???
And that's about 9 of the 17 or so regulars who used to vote in this group, so it's still sort of a majority sorting and picking the final batch, if you go along with it.
Meanwhile, what I can do is go through the 19 original polls (cantina no longer necessary, so 18 polls, and see where the next highest "loser" ranked and give them a run at our list. I think this is sort of what JediTricks was suggesting in the first place. Doing the cantina first changes nothing, it just helped get the hardest one out of the way).
Meanwhile, 4 more votes will continue our Cantina casting to its conclusion since M'iiyoom Onith has placed and E.T. looks as if he'll be dropped.

JediTricks, your votes did count. Once you've supported a character, and incidently, I'd just prviously supported those same characters (Clone Trooper, Padme Freighter) they are taken off the endangered species list (the last of the list).
I only continue listing the last of the list to see if new challengers are wanted more than the bottom bunch are. Daultay Dofine just got saved by Kidhuman so this bunch being challenged by M'iiyoom Onith is safe now except for
Wald
Kitster
Ann / Tan Gella (one only of the Twi'lek girls)
Looks like E.T. didn't make the list. Rocketboy hasn't voted yet, but he could save one of the 3 above (so could anyone, if you want them more than Reegesk the Ranat, the next character from our Cantina Poll. If Reegesk does not get more votes than those above, the cantina poll ends and we test other categories. If he does make the list, whichever one of the 3 above gets the least amount of votes gets kicked off the list. Get it?
Reegesk can't rank higher, because he didn't beat M'iiyoom Onith in his own cantina category, so we're not going to give him the chance to face the Clone Trooper, since that character held his own against M'iiyoom Onith, so there's no point.
So with that explained, well run Reegesk now.
Choose the character you want made the most from:
Reegesk the Ranat, Mos Eisley Cantina
Wald, the Rodian, Mos Espa
Kitster, the human slave boy, Mos Espa
Ann / Tan Gella, 1 Twi'lek girl, Sebulba's massuese
The character with the least votes falls off our Top 50 list.
I'll support Reegesk here. A little Rodian kid sculpt would be great (we'd hope we'd get Kitster in a 2 pack if they'd save costs and just use Anakin's E1 body for the sculpt), but we do have Rodians, to say nothing of Twi'lek girls. I actually DO want the Twi'lek girls though. They'd brighten my Podracer Hanger scene and really stand out from all the brown and tan colors of the characters I have going into there. Aayla Secura has her own unique sculpt for her (let's just say) unique outfit (not a dancing girl - and she has a warrior's look on her face anyway). But the Ranat is a totally new species we don't have a figure of, so I'll support Reegesk here.

Everyone hurry up and vote!
I've designed an ingenious system to finalize our priority list and test all the losers of our earlier contests.
It will require about 17 more votes from each of you and the bottom of the list will start to look very familiar to you, however, we'll also be beginning to work our way back up to the top, too - as other shut-out challengers get their second chance to make our Top 50 list.
Reegesk will be the last Cantina alien to make our Top 50 list - as there's no more room on it for any lower ranking Cantina alien challenger.
Here's what the list looks like now:
Yarna dal Gargon, Jabba's Fat Dancer
-Padme Handmaiden
-Queen Amidala Purple Return to Naboo
-Queen Amidala white Theed Celebration
Senator Yarua - Wookiee
Cliegg Lars
Black Bespin Security Guard
-R2D2 Shield Bunker exploded, Endor
Mother Ewok with baby Wokling
Jocasta Nu, Jedi Librarian

-Padme, Senator, from Palpatine's Officer
Moff Jerjerrod, Death Star II Commander, Endor
General Tagge, Death Star Conference Table
-Jango Fett out of armor, Kamino Apartment
-Lando Calrissian Smugglers Gear, end of ESB
Slim Aloo, Imperial Dignitary
Tonnika Sister (Brea or Senni), Mos Eisley Cantina
-Luke Skywalker Endor Gear
Gotal, Feltipern Trevag, Mos Eisley Cantina
Gragga Chubba Vendor, catches JarJar in Mos Espa
General Veers, Imperial Officer w. removeable Hoth Armor
-Han Solo screaming in Bespin Torture Chair
Anzati vampire, Dannik Jerriko, with pipe in Mos Eisley Cantina

Saurin, Hrchek Kal Fas, Mos Eisley Cantina
Chief Chirpa, Ewok Leader
-Clone Trooper in red, out of armor, from mealtime on Kamino
Ben Quadrinaros, Podracer
M'iiyoom Onith, Nightlily from Mos Eisley Cantina
-Padme as refugee from freighter (Outland Peasant Disguise)
Treva Horme, tall Cloud City alien
Dooku's Pilot Droid, Geonosian Hanger Duel
Daultay Dofine, Niemoidian captain of Trade Federation Ship
Ranat, Reegesk, from Mos Eisley Cantina
Wald, little Rodian friend of Anakin’s, Mos Espa
Kitster little human slave friend of Anakin’s, Mos Espa
Ann or Tan Gella, Twi'lek girl, Sebulba’s Massuese
Count 51 figures? One of the bottom 2 which doesn't get a vote will fall off.

Come on, give her a chance to see how she does. Four of my top five most wanted figures are in our top fifty. Give her a chance to make the list. OK, Beru is on the list to compete, but there is a system in place that has to be used in order to ensure she has a right to be there. She must get at least as many votes as Tonbuck Toora who she also competed against (with Owen and Cleigg, mind you). It was not a sole "Lars Homestead Poll" like the Cantina Aliens one.
With that in mind, there may be 12 poll questions we have to decide first, before Beru gets a chance to compete with the correct list of 22.
Let's see who will be on that. Vote quickly.
Kitster was dropped. Ann or Tan Gella is in line to be dropped should the next character make the list.
I also made a mistake somewhere and there appears to be 51 characters on the list, so this time I will have to drop 2 characters off the bottom of the list, so Wald is in danger too.
Which character do you want to see made the most?
Commander Tey How, Niemoidian with sensors in eyes and mouth
Ranat, Reegesk, from Mos Eisley Cantina
Wald, little Rodian friend of Anakin’s, Mos Espa
Ann or Tan Gella, Twi'lek girl, Sebulba’s Massuese
I have to vote Tey How back on here, because I need him for a diorama.
Kitster is definitely gone unless 2 or more of his fans come forward (and write him back in), because I cut that poll short - we've got to move really fast here people!
Wald and a Twi'lek gal will compete better than Kitster if they continue to get votes - especially new ones from PlasticFetish, JediTricks, or Deoxy who haven't yet voted on the last round (and don't need to, since it's close to the same group of characters).
So does Tey How make the list? Which 2 of these won't be coming back. The really hard choices start now.
By the way, I doubt Hasbro will do Young Owen without Young Beru. A 3-pack is so more likely! or a TRU 4-pack with Padme in her outfit from Tatooine not yet made. They could add Owen's Swoop as the vehicle.

Now choose the figure you want made the most from:
Rep Teers, Gungan High Councilmember
Ranat, Reegesk, from Mos Eisley Cantina
I think I'd choose Rep Teers here because I could use a lot of his or her character, like 4 surrounding Boss Nass, in both the High Council scene and the meeting at the Gungan Sacred Place in the swamp.
I'd love the Ranat, but it's time for tough choices. Maybe after Hasbro makes our Top 50 list and the 9 other Mos Eisley Cantina Aliens we wanted get made, we can still have our Ranat (or Gungan Councilmember, depending upon which way this goes).

Queen Jamilla

I need to hear from 5-6 of you.
Personally, I think The Ice Cream Maker Guy and Queen Jamilla interest me more than Dooku's Pilot Droid, or Treva Horme (in the case of Jamilla alone), but I want the Ranat and both Niemoidians left on our list.
I have to run these polls before I get to Beru as we are working our way back up the list.

Ah, but you see, we already have Droid and myself wanting a Queen Jamilla figure more than several of those on the bottom of the list.
Let's hear if others want to give her a chance. If she makes it, she may climb the list.
If she barely makes it, someone we all want less (as a group) will fall off.
In any case, Dindae and Droid, you both want Reegesk very much, but he'll fall off the list if Beru Whitesun makes it on. Get it? Each poll sorts out the bottom and eliminates the worst and keeps the best.
When Beru comes onto our list, she'll start by challenging everyone from Padme "Kohoun Attack" (Nightgown) on down. She can't knock Padme off the list, but in whatever group of 10 or so that Beru challenges, someone will fall down the list. In turn that'll make another poll, and that character placing will either kick Reegesk off the list, or whoever's at the bottom.
Right now we're still trying to see if it will be Reegesk or Rep Teers (looks like Reegesk).
Does everyone realize how these placement polls are working now?
Challengers come in just under the lowest ranking member from their original poll group. (That's why Reegesk never challenged Hem Dazon - he lost in the first place. And he didn't need to challenge Elris Helrot either - Elris beat him too). Since our upper eschelons never challenged each other, but they are definitely winners, they don't need to fall off the list (they can't anyway) but they could get their priority rearranged by way of this method. I think I found the best (most fair) way.
Hence why Queen Jamilla might (might) get a poll to see if she's in demand more than anyone under Padme from the Freighter, (who she lost to originally).

For the last three voting periods I missed, I vote Ranat, Reegesk for each one.
Is there anyone here that thinks
The Ice Cream Maker Guy
a new Ugnaught
a resculpt of Padme Arena Battle
Queen Jamilla
I'd be interested in the icecream maker guy AND a new ugnaught(s).

Tycho, I'd rather have young Beru than the Ranat.
I'd like her more than any figure except young Owen, Cliegg, Hem Dazon, and Yarna!

GUYS: THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO HASBRO AT COMIC CON TODAY.
I have to leave now, but keep posting, my letter informs them that we are improving the list and invites them to check up on us.
Here it is:
From the forum members of SirStevesGuide.com:
Dear Hasbro,
A team of 20 of us have very thoroughly gone through all the possibilities for never-made-before action figures from all 5 currently released Star Wars movies.
The thread is located at http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?t=24054
All pros and cons of every figure is discussed and voted on by an original panel of about 9 of us, which quickly grew to the full 20 through most of the life of the thread.
We determined there are:
211 possible figures left to do from all 5 currently released movies
100 or so that are generally wanted and not too obscure
50 that top our list that we’ve been working out for quite some time.
The Top 50 list enclosed is still a work in progress, as we have to give legitimacy to the survey by testing its accuracy.
However, the attached list is as complete as currently possible, and you can monitor every procedure used at the link located above.
Broken down there are:
8 figures from The Phantom Menace
13 figures from Attack of the Clones
15 figures from A New Hope
5 figures from The Empire Strikes Back
9 figures from Return of the Jedi
Jabba’s Palace = 3 new characters
Mos Eisley Cantina = 10 new characters
Droids = 4
Podracers =1
Padme figures = 7
Lukes, Hans, Jangos, Dookus, Clone Troopers, Landos = 1 of each recommended
Ewoks = 2 recommended
Sincerely,
Your Customers at SirStevesGuide.com

Geez, for the first time in a while, I'm glad I don't work at Hasbro. ;)
BTW, between Rep Teers & Ranat, I would not vote for either. I would vote for Padme arena over them in a heartbeat.

I'll vote for Ranat, Reegesk this round.
As for the other list, I'd be interested in a new gimmick free Arena Battle Padme but like dindae stated resculpts should be left off this list. Willrow Hood (Ice Cream Maker guy) would be a nice addition too but definitly bottom of the list material.

Vote if you haven't done so between Rep Teers and Reegesk.
Then take note of the master list above.
Is there anyone here that thinks
The Ice Cream Maker Guy
a new Ugnaught
a resculpt of Padme Arena Battle
Queen Jamilla
can successfully challenge the last 3-5 characters on our list?
I need to hear from 5-6 of you.
Personally, I think The Ice Cream Maker Guy and Queen Jamilla interest me more than Dooku's Pilot Droid, or Treva Horme (in the case of Jamilla alone), but I want the Ranat and both Niemoidians left on our list.
I have to run these polls before I get to Beru as we are working our way back up the list.
If you want me to stop and run a poll for any of the new group, (Ugnaught, new Padme Arena Battle, Jamilla, Ice Cream Guy) I need to know NOW.
OK. Between Rep Teers and Reegesk, I'd say Reegesk. I'd think that this would make a better single carded figure. Rep Teers could be part of a set. (Though I suppose Reegesk could be part of a cantina set, which is why I really wanted Wald over him.)
Also, I wouldn't mind a new Ugnaught, and I wouldn't mind if he bumped Dooku's Pilot Droid off.

OK, I'm back from the first night at Comic Con (preview night) and I've delivered the lists (times 3) to Hasbro: the the marketing director for SW, the brand manager, and the head of the design team.
I got some comments and feedback.
They expected Hem Dazon to do well, as well as "an obscure cantina alien demand." They did not say if they will make them though, just that it was expected.
Han Solo Bespin Torture Chair is not what they'd had in mind for a kids' line. They do not rule it out, but an Ultra or exclusive is more likely than a mainstream basic figure. He's not been currently a high ideal on their list for production.
Nute Gunray with Spider-mecho Chair and Sidious Hologram could possibly interest them. They recollect Darth Sidious reappearing that way in the Clone Wars cartoon, so the product could be geared more to Sidious than to Nute. Time will tell, but this is no confirmation they'll do anything along this line, it's just a good consideration.
Yarna dal Gargon: "A six-breasted, fat lady? No way. No how. This is a kids' brand." You heard it correctly, Yarna will likely never be made. The real issue is having a distasteful figure that may pegwarm, that is nothing to army build with, and nothing kids would want. It's less an "obscenity issue" from what I gathered.
The Tonnika Sisters: "Never. They are not going to tangle with lawsuits and likeness rights with Christine Hewitt (one of the Tonnika Sisters) and the other actress who oppose their likeness being used without exorbinant compensation."
The good news is that if we remove these two off of our list, several things can happen:
1) we will have room to add 2 more figures back onto our Top 50.
2) we can bump up every cantina alien to one higher cantina priority spot, and we could do another cantina alien poll to replace Reegesk's position, because Reegesk is moving up to M'iiyoom Onith's old position and a relatively safe spot.
I do not believe there are enough votes for Rep Teers to make it back on our list.
I'm bringing WALD and ANN (or) TAN GELLA back onto the Master List. They reclaimed their previous spaces with the 2 Hasbro said to drop.
Since Rep Teers tied Reegesk for demand, he's going to come back to take on the bottom of the list. Reegesk is no longer threatened.
THE FIRST POLL SINCE THE START OF COMIC CON - ONLY VOTE HEREON AFTER

Are you having fun?
Well, I can understand the Yarna dal Gargon and the The Tonnika Sisters thing. I'm kind of thinking there's a weird double standard going on with not wanting Yarna dal Gargon to peg warm, but it's not such a big deal that DX slave Leia still crowds the isle -- and then they put her out again on an OTC card. (Whatever.)
I can understand the torture chamber Han thing not flying.
About the Darth Sidious from the Clone Wars cartoon thing... does that mean that they're still thinking about cartoon related toys for the future?
Anyway... Wald. (Thumbs up for Warwick Davis.)

I'm sticking with Wald.
I often thought of starting a fund to pay the exorbinant fee to get the license to make a Tonika figure. I figure if a fan proposed it to the sisters and Hasbro and said we would come up with the funds to make it happen how could they not do it.
Kidhuman
07-22-2004, 09:31 AM
Wow, Yarna will never be. I understand it, but like PF said, why the Slave Leia then?
Tonnika sisters, that tome sounds like a cop out, but what can you do?
I would love the Sidious Holo on the Spider-walker, he has been a figure of mine on most CW lists.
Hem is the most likely of all figures tobe getting made from our list it seems.
Wald gets my vote as well.

I am so frustrated I could scream. Who are these guys to tell us what is a good idea? Does anyone notice that the main characters on the list are what Hasbro immediately latched on to? "You want more Nute Gunrays you say? Can do." That is why some of us argued that main characters shouldn't be on this list.
Why are they calling Hem Dazon obscure? How is he even remotely more obscure than the other cantina aliens they've made? If anything he is a MORE PROMINENT ALIEN than the others.
The Tonnikas thing I can mildly understand if there truly is some sort of likeness dispute. But why not make a figure of their outfit and their hair (which was a Lucasfilm wig) and SPECIFICALLY make the face likeness inaccurate. Don't have a picture of the actresses on the package. Maybe even put in the story of how these are the REAL Tonnikas, not the ones who appeared in Mos Eisley. It wouldn't be the first time Hasbro was a little off with the face. They could package the figure with a Leia head for all I care and say it is an Expanded Universe scene where Leia posed as the twins.
And Yarna. Give me a break. This is the same old "women figures won't sell" nonsense. Name me a female character that has peg warmed. I dare you. And make it an exclusive if they're afraid of peg-warming. And it is so salacious that they were going to make it during the VINTAGE LINE? We've all seen the prototype figures. Now THAT was a kids' line. And as some have pointed out, they made Oola, Slave Leia, and any number of scantily clad figures. And who cares if she has six breasts. That is expanded universe. You can't see it in the movie. She just has a decorative shirt on for all we know. They don't have to show nipples or anything.
Tycho, I am not voting anymore if you are composing the list without Yarna and the Tonnikas. Hasbro should not think we are accepting this crap. I vote for WALD only if this is for a place on the original list. I AM NOT PARTICPATING FURTHER IF GARGAN AND THE TONNIKAS ARE BEING TAKEN OFF THE LIST. Hasbro should be told at every opportunity this is what we want and we ARE NOT accepting their line. Every time we are asked, "Who do you want?" our answer should be YARNA.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Tycho, you should team up with the other similar sites, yakface.com, galactichunter, theforce.net, jedinet.com, and start a MASSIVE petition for these two figures. Does anyone have Hasbro's e-mail? Let's bombard them. This is poorly thought out nonsense and we should not accept it.

OK, I'm not done. I went to start work again and realized I had more online screaming to do.
It really is about their stupid, misguided belief that CHILDREN are driving this line at this point. Are we really to believe that CHILDREN are buying the Imperial Dignitaries in years where there is no movie when Spiderman figures are engulfing my Walmart? You can't even FIND the Star Wars figures in most stores now there is so much Spiderman, Lord of the Rings, Power Rangers, and Van Helsing stuff around.
What they really want is to just make the main characters OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again. They made Leia is a SLAVE COSTUME and Luke in some sort of UNDERWEAR/DIAPER. They would make Han in a ball gag if it had been in the movie. Notice they'll THINK about Han in torture chair but we couldn't dream of making Yarna. It just wouldn't be appropriate. Hypocrisy.
Tycho, I'm glad I wasn't there. I would have been thrown out of the convention. These pompous jerks have about the coolest job ever and they cavalierly decide what they think is best. STUPID.
If anyone needs me I'll be in the Rancor Pit banging my head against the wall.

You asked, I answered, :d Its all good. Hasbro could stop the pegwarming by simply packing the figures right in the case. WHen you have 4 padmes and 1 clone, what do people think willhappen. Ijust brought up a valid point. :beard:

Even though those two padme did pegwarm as well as Aayla and Bariss around here I would say that has to do with the waves they were in tended to pegwarm more than other not that they were female characters. For every aayla there was a jedi kid two pack and every padme there was a tusken raider. And as far as the imperial dignitaries I don't think thats the best example no one bought those. :D

OK, I'm just reposting the poll question because I need to keep people just checking this last page up to date on what we're voting on.
I will discuss Yarna again with Hasbro and ask again if it is that she'll pegwarm, or what? I do not think the issue was appropriateness in the same vein as Slave Leia. That was not the problem. But I'll reconfirm that and convey your displeasure.
Once again, main characters sell the line to those who have no SW figures (kids or new adults who don't know they make them, or never considered buying them before. Special displays will be on hand where the classic DVD's are stocked in stores, and newbies can get 3-packs with Han, Leia, Chewie, Luke, R2, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Emperor, etc. - I think you've seen pictures of those already. These new people will not buy any figures, if they can't get the basic ones.) This makes sense.
I pointed out that we have voted for:
Lando Smugglers Gear
Jango Fett - out of armor, in his apartment
Count Dooku - softgoods, no action features
Han Solo - Bespin Torture Chair
Luke Skywalker - a great removeable helmet, poncho, Endor figure
Padme Amidala - only 7 different high-demanded ways to do her on our list
We are trying to give them alternatives so that the "extra collectible" figures we want, stay on their radar for production.
Droid, do you want your vote for Wald to count or not? He's only 1 ahead of Rep Teers. I'll ask about Yarna, but the Tonnika Sisters are not coming back and we've known that since we started the poll (or I knew that since I did the official Cantina Poll on SSG's mainpage a year and a half ago, and it was discussed at length in that thread).
Hasbro is going to read this thread. They have the link. I suggest we make the discussion advance and get our job done.
