The Sith in the Original Trilogy

By now, everyone knows that Darth Vader was a Sith lord, same with Darth Maul, Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Tyranus. However, is the name Sith even used once in Episodes IV, V, or VI?

In ANH, Admiral Motti says that Vader is the last of the Jedi. He could've been talking about Force users in general, though. In ROTJ, Palpatine is a Force user on the Dark Side, though I don't remember him being called a Sith. Of course, there can also be dark Jedi, like Komari Vosa, Asajj Ventress, and the Emperor's plan for Luke Skywalker, and only two Sith, though this isn't very clear in the OT. The big ending (as it is now) is that the Sith are defeated finally (not just the Empire's top-ranking officials, as it seems without the PT).

So obviously the Sith are a big part of the saga. Are they even mentioned by name in the OT? I can't remember.

I agree with you i dont remember them saying sith all they say is darkside this and that even motti (who is very cool in person) says your sad devotion to that anicent religon I truly dont remember them saying the word sith cool catch duder:D lol :rolleyes: :crazed: :nerv: :greedy: :evil:

The name Sith was never used in the OT. Now, if G. Lu. changes that, Iwill be irked. The first time Sith was mentioned was in the PT.

I remember the old ESB storybook showing a pic of Vader as a dark lord of the Sith and I always wondered what the heck they were talking about.

Well, they DO call him Lord Vader so I guess we heard part of that title onscreen.

I could of swore that they said it in the OT but like you guys said I saw the picture book as well and it saying that. What happened probably was that it was part of Lucas' story (that since he never filmed it until the late 90s) would have been said in the part of the really LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG first SW film that was never filmed, except until EPS 1. Plus part of the Empy's hold on the universe during ANH and on was making any knowledge of that time before not known since he didn't want to revive the knowledge of the force to the public so the word SITH would probably been extinct by then.
