Is Bounty Hunter any good?

Yes it is one of the best games I own for any system! :D

Buy more games, Teeska. :D

It's decent. Kinda hard though. :frus: I'm going to pick myself up a copy of it when it hits 20. Target was selling it for 15 for a day but they sold out before I got there. :(

Fine not one of the best.... one Of my Favorites, I like the difficulty and being able to control Jango and shoot everything in site

I liked it alot. Its was fun setting people on fire and watching them run around, punching peoples lights out, letting the blasters belt out their tune, dropping bombs, and using missiles to blow up objects far away. I plan on getting it this weekend. (Rented it from Blockbuster)

I beat this game last night. It isnt very hard but its fun hunting the secondary bounties. I hated fighting the Bando Gora thugs. They were hard to see a lot of times and bounced around alot. Fire usually calmed them down though.

A question to those who have also beaten Bounty Hunter, how did you defeat Komari Vosa? I punched her to death but was wondering if anybody else was able to do it with the blasters or fire. Fun game in my opinion with lots of replay value.

I would tie her up, then shoot her, other than that, I just stayed away from her!

I briefly thought about wrapping her up but i didnt think it would work so i never tried. When we first fought i tried to burn her but that didnt seem to work too well either.

I played it like mad when I first got here, but then I did something I find myself doing more and more of these days, something I NEVER used to do: I quit playing it before I beat it. For no good reason. Just decided I'd played enough.

My one beef (though I only got through likely 25% of it) was that there was really little variation in what was happening. Run, shoot, use the jet pack a little. Run more, shoot more. Get lost.

For some reason the perspective made me a little queasy too, not sure why. Both this game and Obi Wan for X-Box get that "half decent, but I wouldn't pay full price for them" rating from me.

Its like that throughout the game, run and shoot. I didnt mind it but can see how it would get boring for others. When i first started out i became confused every now and then but eventually came to easily recognize where the game wanted me to go. So anybody have Jedi Outcast? That looks like the next game i will get and i just want to know what i can expect.

Jedi Outcast for the PC was superb, but the console version (I had the XBOX version) seemed to be wrong for some reason. I really hated it. The visuals seemed blurry and the control was way off.

Just got the game and I have to say that so far it is challenging.

Controlling the jet-pack takes a little to get used to. I'm glad you can continue from the same spot up to 5 times if you should happen to die. I also like the different arsenal of weapons that Jango has control of.

What I don't like is the secondary bounties. In order to find out if your enemy has a bounty you have to put on your scanning helmet, and if it so happens your enemy is wanted, you then have to mark the bounty. While you are doing this, enemies are blasting away at you. I have figured out that you should tie them up first, and then scan, but either way, a pain in the arse.

I also don't like the fact that if you die at the final enemy and run out of continues, you have to start off at the beginning of the level again, and go through all the bounties, and enemies, etc.

BTW, if you have a Media Play nearby, check them out. I got this game for $20 and a free Unleashed Maul came with it. They were languishing on the floor for $50 last year at this time. Go and check them out because they were going fast.

Bounty Hunter is a great game. I bought it the day it came out, and it took about a week or two for me to beat it. I thought it was challenging and had awesome graphics & sound. The movies between levels was most impressive, and some great characters were in the game like Montross, the female Watto-like creature (can't remember the name), the Sith witch (can't remember the name), and those dark-cloaked monsters (can't remember the name for them). Being a "bad guy" as the main character was the best part of the game, because I get sick of always being the hero.

I'd get this in a heartbeat if LEC made it for the XBox. :(

This game has the best cut scenes i have ever seen. Getting Temeura Morrison to do the voice over for Jango was really nice as well.

LBC is right, the bounty scanning is downright clunky, but being vulnerable while scanning is part of the challenge. The best strategy I have found is standing inside a doorway or up on boxes and scanning from there, where the enemy cannot hit you. Most areas have a couple of safe places. Another problem is switching between weapons. So getting bounties means switching to whipcord, scanning, marking, and tagging. Then switching back to guns befroe you get wasted. Too many strokes.

That said, the graphics are pretty good. the rendering of Jango is especially impressive. I like swivelling the camera just to get a head on shot. I recommend this game, butI have to admit most of the fun comes from it being Jango, not necessarily excellent gameplay. If you want gameplay, get Vice City.

Something I never understood is this... what's the point of collecting bounties on people if you can't do anything with that money? Or can you?

The bounties were for unlocking concept art.

Weird thing is, you don't even need to get every bounty to unlock all of the concept art. Of course, it might differ on other versions, but that's how the Gamecube version worked.

I had rented this game in the past and finally bought it yesterday. It is quite challenging and the bounties are annoying but all in all I enjoy it alot.

Its a fun game, some levels are difficult at first. If you like Doom and such games then by all means pick it up. Especially for that price its worth it.

I've been stuck on stage 9, the jungle board where you have to meet up with Zam, for like 4 weeks. While I don't play the game everyday, it takes me an hour or so to get to the end where I will usually die. Pretty frustrating. :frus:

Where do you have troubles at? I dont recall the level offhand but wont be against popping my copy into see how to get you out of whatever jam your in.

Kidhuman

You are trying to get across and get to Zam. You need to scope the area with your view finder, target the opponent, switch to guns and blast them. Once you killed all the enemies on that side of the cliff, a skiff will come for you. There should be about four or five bad guys.

Lowly Bantha Cleaner

That's exactly where I am at the point of the game. I did figure out after a few attempts to get across to where Zam was that I needed to kill the snipers. The problem is that I can't hit them while they have no trouble in hitting me. Is there a certain sniper's perch that I can sit safely where I won't be repeatedly shot at?

Prior to that, it took me weeks to get past the bridge part where you have one of the Ree-Yees shooting at you at the gun turret and another shooting missles at you.

Kidhuman
04-04-2004, 01:07 PM
You have to take cover and search the area with your bounty locater. It will say no bounty posted. When you lock onto one, switch to missle and fire across while still locked on target.

Got through it tonight. Thanks for your help KH. I found a nice perch next to some boxes and forgot about the sniper's scope and gun and just wasted them with the missles. Took me over a month but now I get to move on. :)

BTW, I started playing the next board and I see a lot of Dugs. Do they have bounties out for them unlike the other boards? I don't want to waste my time scanning for bounties while I am getting blasted.

Kidhuman
04-05-2004, 08:24 AM
There are bounties on every board except the last three when you goafter the Bando Goro. They are the only with out bounties. Actually the only one that does is Komari Vosa, but you fight her anyway. Will see you back here when you get to the boards. You are gonna need advice with them.

So, is Bounty Hunter still only available on Game Cube? I'm hoping it'll come out on XBox but since it's been about 2 years I've stopped holding my breath. How does it compare to Clone Wars?

It beats the snot out of it.

Not that I dislike Clone Wars, but I beat it the first time I played it. Bounty Hunter has provided quite a bit more challenge. It's like Tomb Raider, only you have a backpack and you're not Laura Croft. :D

I've finally figured out the key to this game and that is to not worry so much about the bounties during the game. I've wasted too much time and too many precious lives worrying about 1 or 2 bounties during a stage that I cannot even get to the ending.

I now just blow through the boards, wreaking total carnage, only snagging easy bounties, and when I am done, I will revisit the board to clean up on the bounties that I missed. It will save me a lot of time and a lot of grief. :)

We got this game for the PS2 a while back, the game was a rewards points thing so it was free and you might remember the PS2 was won in a contest, so in terms of cost, we've spent $5 on an extension cable for the joystick. :D Anyway, we got the game a while back, 3 or 4 months ago, but got into playing GTA3 for so long that we didn't unwrap Bounty Hunter until earlier this week. The game is cool and challenging, I like that the save points are only at the end of levels and it's not a breeze, I'm kinda sick of games where you can just blast through everything in a few minutes and instantly save your progress on the fly - no challenge. I'm still only on the prison level, but that's mainly due to not having a lot of time with the PS2. 3 things really bug me about this game:

- using bounty scanner mode sucks, you just stand there and all you can do is duck down, can't shoot back or jump out of the way or even just move a step sideways;
- switching between weapons is clunky, even when using the D-pad (and with this controller, I'm way used to the GTA 3/Vice City style too);
- if you want to switch to another user's game on the mem card, you have to reboot.

There was a point in the game where I got totally stuck because I didn't notice a ledge across from a broken lift, spent so dang long on that one spot before totally by accident I landed on the ledge, that could have used some sort of graphic to better explain what I was supposed to be looking at.

There are some areas that are ridiculous heights so far, Coruscant, the cargo area, but unlike SOTE's jetpack stuff these mostly feel exciting rather than redundant and boring, even when you're not sure which way to go (which is nearly ALWAYS ;)). Some of these heights are staggering, jumping from building to building on Coruscant had some really stunning moments.

Anyway, this is a fun game overall, and I kinda wish Jango acted more like this in Ep 2.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I still play SOTE on my N64 from time to time because I dig it so much, it's currently hooked up to my TV in the living room, I just don't really think too highly of the jetpack-themed parts of the game, specifically on Gall when you first get the jetpack.

I'll have to admit, I was sweating a bit, when I played that same very stage, because it was a very long fall from the rooftops. For those of us who have a fear of heights this is a video game that manifests our worst nightmare. Not quite like the real thing though, but still my heart skipped a beat or two.

That's something never mentioned, but it is true. The perspective is sometimes enough to really cause some tension, and it is really awesome. Not a lot of games are able to create that feeling with graphics
