I still hate all the new AOTC Obi-Wans, so I wanted to swap a AOTC head with a episode one Kenobi. It might not even fit who knows. But, how do I go about doing it if itv does? Can I put them in hot water, pop em off and swap?

Thanks.:)

This should help.

I boiled the water and let it cool for about a minute. I stuck Padme (Droid Factory) and Padme (Arena) in the water head first for about 30 seconds. I took them out and used a paper towel to help pull off the heads so I didn't scald myself! The Droid Factory head came right off. The Arena one must have a gigantic ball at the end of the peg. I ended up severing the peg and supergluing her head to the Droid Factory body. Now I have an un-customised Droid Factory Padme and a "non-yelling" Droid Factory Padme. It looks sweet even though the Arena one's head is a little thin.

I tried swaping Two Anakin figures arm, and they both tore before they came out..:frus: I must be doing something wrong...

Man! My friend's son pulled Luminara's arms and head off without even damaging the pegs! I'm scared of you, girlie! ;) :D

Hope you like it!

You should put the screaming padme head on the "quick draw" body. Like she's screaming after the Nexu scratches her.

Actually, I did... but the hole where her "previous" head was is such a mess at this point, that it just wouldn't work. :(

Great pic! It is a little disappointing to see that the head really is a bit thin. I was hoping this would be the solution to the Padme dilemma...

Well... even with the thin head, it's an improvement that will add HOURS to my play enjoyment!

There is a process I use when customizing that has worked well for me. Usually the pegs do tear so I normally expect this. After a limb peg has broken off in the body, I use a dremmel to carefully drill out the broken peg. Then what I have done consists of using a 3/16" diameter dowell rod and super-gluing it to whichever limb needed. I then use a dremmel to sand the rod down to the appropriate length and then super-glue a small piece of flex craft foam that is slightly bigger than the hole on the body of the figure. I have ruined many figures by means of the boil and pop method but have repaired them using this method. It would be great if I could find these same size dowell rods that were made out of rubber, foam, vinyl, as these would be easier to work with than wood. All of these materials (flex foam and dowell rod) can be found at any craft or hobby store.

I made an Ep. 1 Bravo Squadron pilot by using Ric Olie's body and the head from the Rebel Endor commando. The commando's head didn't pop out as cleanly as Ric Olie's, so I had to glue it back in.

I pop a coffee mug of water in the microwave for 2 - 3 minutes. The water's hot enough. I have found that submerging the figure about mid-chest into the water loosens the head the best.

I made an AOTC cloaked Obi-Wan using the head from the Ep2 Coruscant Chase version and the body of an Ep1 Naboo figure.
The two fit together perfectly.

A word of warning - not all heads fit into all necks.
I've just been reminded of this when trying to swap heads on Ep2 Boba with a clone youth from the Lama Su 2-pack.
Boba's neck-peg is too broad to fit inside the clone's neck, and the peg on the clone is too long and narrow for Boba's.
I've got round the problem by melting the pegs into shape VERY carefully on the hob of my electric stove ("Don't try this at home, kids..."), and the results are just about adequate.

I had a similar problem when I made a "Jedi Dooku" using a spare Qui-Gon body.

I'll try to post pics of some of these customs sometime soon.

Please do! It sounds like you are having "dangerous" fun, but are building a great set! I would have waited for the Acklay Battle Obi-Wan head for the swap... but you probably did that one a few months ago... :D

That head is a little tricky to work with. Obi-Wan's head is tilted back ( to look at the acklay i guess). W/o modification, it looks odd on other bodies.

I've just posted some of my customs in the "Members' Collections" gallery - apologies for the grainy photos!

I would use a craft knife to cut away the "tilt" in the head... that might work... I've had to do that before.
