Anyone else getting this. The forums time seems to now be behind by 2 hours. And new posts instead of going to the top of the lists, are now appearing in the line up 2 hours in the past. So older posts, are actually above the newer ones. It can't just be me, because the message are actually being sorted this way. Where's Sir Steve when ya need him. :(

I just noticed too that the clock is 2 hours behind, I was beginning to wonder myself until I saw this thread, but I don't have the problem that the newer posts aren't at the top of the list though

Two hours behind? Let me check.
Yeah, the clock is behind by two hours.

Yeah, the posts appearing before older posts became apperant from the Toy Collecting - Other forums. I noticed Jedi Cole was making a post about the new Star Wars Die-Cast line in the Who's Online Section. But when you go to the actual forums section, it's down 3-4 threads since the forums clock is back 2 hours. So it put it beneath the older posts that happened before the time screw-up. :)

I believe it was yesterday that I couldn't even get to the forums page at all. Some glitch somewhere for awhile. Today there doesn't seem to be any delays or anything out of the ordinary.

The time is messed up, and some replies got screwed up because of it. Check the Other Forum, and look on the last page of the word association game. Darth Sidious's reply got put in the wrong spot because of the time glitch.

We're atleast safe from more time sorting errors, because we passed the original time of the error's occurance. That's why you couldn't post at the time, JBF. With the time glitch, it was seeing a post of yours trying to be made within' the 60 second time limit of making a new post. But it's still a pain in the arse to have the time be off by 2 hours. :p :)

It looks like the problem is still going on. The clock here says 8:27a and it's actually 10:32.
I think I know the reason why though. The whole explanation is a little complicated, but, basically, there was a rift in Death's design. To fix it, I'll have to go see the movie.

First off, Steve is at Toy Fair, remember?
Second, the issue is almost certainly from SSG being moved to another server when the Toy Fair traffic got too high this weekend. I'm betting that the new server's main clock is off by 2 hours.
I'll try to get someone to look at this as soon as possible, but hey, at least the forums and other various systems aren't all gummed up like they were on Friday.
Finally, in the future, please email Steve and myself when stuff like this comes up during toy shows. :)

I E-Mailed Steve, I thought he wasn't going to attend Toy Fair due to Hasbro not showing much Star Wars products. I didn't take into account Lego, MR, and Gentle Giant. If I would have, I would have E-Mailed you. Sorry about that JT. :)

Steve specifically said he'd be going a while back in the forums, but the rumor mill sorta confused the issue I think.
Anyway, I was mistaken about the move, that was put on hold, the systems are just smoother now. We'll have someone look into the time issue right away, please let us know of any other ongoing problems.

There have been the occassional database errors that started the day of or day before Toy Fair coverage started breaking. Other then that and the time glitches, things have been pretty smooth. Please keep us updated with what's going on. Thanks for the news, JT. :)

That was Wrestlingguide.com's early Toy Fair coverage that was causing the situations on Friday that JBF just quoted.
I caught Steve between his on-the-town doings in NY :D and he made the time match up manually.

This is some freaky stuff going on
So, uh...so do the times of our posted messages stay messed up after the error is fixed?

I'm getting a whole load of "The server is too busy please try again later" messages this last couple of days yet there's virtually no-one here to snarl up the server. Just for no apparent reason I'm typing a message and there's like seventeen peiople here or something, then when i hit the reply button i get hit with the message and my post is gone to cyberlimboland. Flamin' annoying to the 'nth degree. Any ideas about what is causing the servers to be so busy serving roughly seventeen people? Well that's seventeen here at SSG.

Still happening. Got it this morning just before noon GMT, there wewre no more than twenty people here including guests and halfway through my session i got booted out and all i could get was the busy page. I clicked through to a couple of other sites and came back and got in fine but this problem is getting more frequent and seems like a new contender to the ISE of the old forums.

Mad a few changes... hopefully that helped. The Forums are growing, the server can handle more than enough but the Forums itself is eating A LOT of it up so we have to find ways to correct it. The BIG problem is searches... we have to have them but it's causing a HUGE load. The updated forums was re-worked for performance issues so as soon as it is ready, we will update them and hope that fixes things...

Oh, and for right now at least, the No-Cache has been deactivated so if something goes wrong, you can go back and retrieve your text.

Excelent, thanks a lot for that, considering how verbose I can be that was a major pain having to remember to copy a message first before submitting it in case it was lost due to the error. Brilliant. :) Incidentally, was there a huge surge in use last night? I couldn't get in at all for about four hours straight. I realise that could be traffic problems with my ISP retrieving from the states, but i'm with one of the largest global providers and all other sites in the states were accessible. It's just odd that's all. Rebelscum and GH are usually slow to load and this place is like a high speed freeway normally. No matter I'm in now and hopefully things will even out soon. Thanks for the response. :)

I think the timing mechanism is messed up too. After I post it is not popping up on the topic boards.

kidhuman, *if* I understand what you're saying correctly, that would be because of the caching of the pages. If you make a post and when it redirects you back to the page but you don't see anything new, try reloading the page.
Jargo, what times are you talking about? I had no troubles using the system from 5pm to 11pm PST yesterday.
Jargo
03-26-2003, 08:36 PM
difference in time zones is what five or eight hours? math is my weak point but roughly 7-12 GMT so whatever that works out as in PST. which would be roughly 11am-4pm I guess. Just a big blank nothing, page cannot be found messages, the works. Like I said this was the only site I couldn't access all day. even the terminally slow sites loaded for me. 'Tis a quirky beast this site and no mistake. :Pirate: ARRRRR
