After watching AOTC again, it was quite noticeable that Shmi was tied to the exact same "weapons rack" that comes with the TA Anakin figure. It appears they simply called it that to make it more "appealing" to parents with youg children. But I've gotta wonder - could a "tortured Shmi" figure be coming at some point?

That's not the torture rack that he's packed with. But you can see the construct that he comes with, leaned against the outside of one of the tents in the camp. Sorry to burst your bubble, but while it looks similar, it's not the same. :)

Yes, first comes Tortured Shmi, then Jango Fett with bloody stump action.

It's not the torture rack. It's a simplistic design for a stand so no reason they didn't use the same way of building them, but it doesn't mean it's the torture rack. It can be used as one if you wish to but I doubt Hasbro would've actually purposely made Ani come with the rack that his own mother was tortured on. ;)

Just watch as Anakin unties Shmi and she falls into his arms....you can clearly see it's the same rack as the one with the figure.

It's only similar construction. The item with the figure can clearly be seen leaned up against the exterior of one of the Tusken tents. It even has the water skin/ feed bag connected. There is no such thing connected to the construct that Shmi is tied to.

JarJar is right. I saw the rack leaning against one of the Tusken Huts as well.

Sure, we'll get the Tortured Shmi figure the day when we get Dead Qui-Gon, Sarlac Pit Boba Fett and Force Exploding Emperor Palpatine.

Yeah, I don't see the tortured Shmi happening. Especially since she dies. Now with charecters like Maul and Jango, they aren't good charecters so the don't have a problem with making figures that re-enact them getting killed. Atleast it's not Kenner from the vintage years. They didn't even want to make Tarkin, because he died. :)

The POTJ Shmi figure will lean against the rack that comes with the TA Anakin quite easily; with her arms positioned above her head, it looks almost as if she's asleep.

The bag hanging on the rack is a backpack according to the visual dictionary. :)

You can use it as that... but it definitely not the same item.

Thanks Jargo, I hadn't picked up my Visual Dictionary yet and I no longer have the pages stored on my Computer. I knew that it was somthing like that. :)

The carry sack is called an 'Urtah'. Also, the sticks that make up the rack are made from the petrified remains of forests that were found on Tatooine long before the sun dried up the surface moisture and turned the planet into a dust bowl. The tents are made from animal skin and more petrified wood. These tents are called 'Urtya'.
If you look in the visual dictionary there is a picture of an Urtya tent with two of the tusken backpacks leaning against the tent. This is what the hasbro team modelled the accessory with Anakin on.

Yeah, in the novel it talks about when Anakin slaughters the whole camp about how he lifts boulders up with the force and squashes huts with them.
I guess he'll probably kick down all the racks as well or he may throw the tusken children into them using the force... he is in a blind rage :) wow, I'm sadistic :crazed: :crazed: :) :)

Thanks for the scan and the text from the book, Jargo. Hopefully this will finally put an end to the misconception that it is the rack that Shmi is tied to. Atleast until the next person brings it up. :D

Guess the only folks that really know are the guys that designed & sculpted it.... :)

*** edit: (for those that post smart remarks but end up looking like buffoons :)) ***

I guess the only folks that really know what the accessories that are packed in with the figure really are, are the guys that designed & sculpted the figure itself. Sure, we can sit around & say it's this or that, but the only person that knows definitively is the person that designed &/or sculpted the figure.

But I would tend to agree that Hasbro wouldn't knowingly include a "torture rack" with a figure.

Nevermind, I can see it's pointless trying to explain......

tagmac, it could be a torture rack. No one can positively say whether it is or isnt. That's the good thing about imagination.....

BP, we can easily positively say what it is. Look at the scans from the visual dictionary, then compare them to the rack in the movie, and the toy that came with Anakin. It's obvious that the toy that comes with Anakin is the same thing leaned against the outside of the tent. Imagination is fine, but you can imagine the sky pink and everyone as cartoon charecters. That doesn't make it so. :)
