I guess someone figured 20.00 wasn't such a god deal for it so they bid rather than used the buy now. I figured someone would have taken it for 20.00 wiht no problem, I know I would have if I needed it. It just reminds me of the time when I saw a ST MM collector set III listed wiht a buy now of 29.99 only to click on it and see that some really smart guy bid on it rather than took it for 29.99. I guess he thought he'd get that for less, I'm sure the seller was happy since he apparently had no idea what he had and yet still chose to add a buy now option. I see the same thing all the time and it will never stop amazing me. I don't mind at all when it's something I want, but when it is I usually see it too late : (

sicqnus,

the flight controllers arrived whilst i was on vacation.

i'm not going to open up the box, as they are packed quite well. i'm going to send em off to ya in the box they arrived in.

send me a pm with your address, (i'm sure you did that already, but before i left, i cleard out my pm box so's to make sure no one's messages got bounced back in case anyone pm'd me while i was away)

hopefully i'll make it to the post office tomorrow, and will send your package, as well as the proto tour onto jt.

btw, once i receive the proto tour back , if you guys in europe want to view em as well, i have no qualms about sending mine across the pond for your viewin' pleasure. afterall, you, brit cit, jedi goofy and of course jeddah are big reasons why this board has been so much fun through the years.

so lets plan on gsj's protos (array, klaestron, nebulon -b and enterprise d) making a fall trip to the old country :)

Sup VT, thanks for the correction. I thought there was something Sicqnus was unaware of since I only read his reply and didn;t see Warstar's question. Well, there's nothing special about it that I know of. It looks just like the regular FC giveaway(?) to me.

There are actually some ships I wouldn't mind getting extras of in that lot of 117 AFs. If Baal Jr. wants a lot of them and doesn;t mind paying 3.50 each LMK and I'll look it over and figure out exactly what I'd want and go from there. I never got around to opening any AOTC AFs so that would be the perfect time to at least get all of them. LMK.

when i got back from vaca, my company's server took a dump, which meant i had to work solid for 4 days to get everything back up and running.

i'm an architect fercrissakes, not a dayum systems administrator.

the person who had been the firms it guy for several years, left in january for a job up in calgary, and since i was the only one with a rudementary knowlege of how computers werk, it fell into my court....sheeesh.

anyway, now that we're back up and rolling, i can now focus on more important matters....mainly kicking off the newest round of the proto tour, and sending sicqnus his ebay bounty of flight controllers.

hopefully i will be able to get to the post office tomorrow (tuseday, 6/24/03), and get these things to where they need to go.

jt, i will be enclosing some things which need to be forwarded to vt. namely the hawk from space 1999, as well as a tomy star wars figure of boba fett.

i'm posting this all here, cause looking back, this was the last place i posted with regards to shipping all this stuff

It looks circa '97...anyone know where it's from? From March '96, given away to Official Fan Club members, they're numbered out of 68,000. Yes, that's nearly 3 times as many as the Han/Falcon set from December '94, but I believe that's more about how the fan club grew after the POTF2 figures came out.

Ah well. My AF auctions will be starting soon enough...:(

Thanks for the info up there, JT. I wondered about those SW Fan Club MM's.

I'm selling my entire SW Lego collection starting in a couple of hours...all well below costs, all parts there, all instructions (save for 2 kits), from 1999-2002. Kinda' painful, but I need the $$$ quick...

ebaysclaper evilryu666 is a chewbacca's salad-tossin', rat's gonads-sucking, female parent-fornicating piece of saddam-dung.

That snot-gargling worm outbid me in the final seconds on the emblemless a-wing that sicqnus posted here a few days ago.

Now, instead of having a happy home with a family that will appreciate, display AND PLAY WITH IT, the ship will be SCALPED to someone.

Hopefully, it will ultimately find a similar home to ours, but unfortunately, the final owner will pay scalprice for it.

Quiet, patient, passive a Jedi should be...

I saw another Emb'less A-wing a few weeks ago and it was sold for cheap. Another one maybe two months ago in a lot of AF. Sold for $50, you'll just have to sell the other AFs on Ebay and it will pay the cost of the A-wing.

[edited...] ebaysclaper evilryu666 is a @#$!*&^%....[edited]

I have been politely informed that evilryu666 is the ebay pseudonym of a known member of this forum.

A sincere thank you to the member who offered the information.

Out of fairness, I will concede that I should've posted my intent to bid here in advance.

That being said, and knowing full well there is no way to reverse the clock to prove it, I have no confidence whatsoever that having posted my intent would've changed the behavior of the evildoer or the outcome
of the auction.

Furthermore, I neither regret, nor do I apologize for the sentiments I expressed.

This individual is a prime contributor to the erosion of enjoyment for us hard-working, not wealthy enthusiasts trying to expand or build a new collection of action fleet.

This forum member already has one of (if not THE) premiere collections of Galoosbro AF/MMs. Pirating these auctions as he does, the only thing the evildoer accomplishes is inflating the aftermarket price of AFs / MMs. This may serve his interests, by boosting the ego/bragging-value of his own collection to those he thinks he might be impressed, but for those of us who have no intention of selling/scalping our beloved collections, all this does is make it harder - if not virtually impossible - for us to acquire wanted items.

To the other collectors on this forum:
If you had all the AF/MMs you wanted for your own collection (or even if not), would you (or DO you) bid on on them on ebay for the sole purpose of reselling them at a profit?

What do you think about someone who does so?

oh well, i'll put my deduction powers (such as they are) to work:

swaffy: "This forum member already has one of (if not THE) premiere collections of Galoosbro AF/MMs"
-which would most obviously implicate swaffy's fellow goombaahl baal, except baal's in ny, not boston. hmm, now as i recall, one of us forummers lives in matchashusetts, but i can't recall zactly who offhand
aw cmon swaffy, at least email me the answer, & while yer at it lmk how you found out :sur:

matt: can't recall offhand, but did sets 11-13 even come w/any ekas or battledroids?

VT: The one in Boston you can't think of is me, Shinakuma/EvilRyu666 (any Street Fighter fan should have been able to figure that out long ago, sheesh).

Swaffy said someone told him, I don;t know who it was since there are 4 or 5 members who have known but there's only one I'd put money on. Well, everyone knows now.

I just finished sending Swaffy an e-mail and then I saw your post. I wish I saved the e-mail in my sent folder, but I'm not home and so I don;t have my normal settings enabled and so it wasn;t saved. If Swaffy can post my reply, if anyone wants it, it would be fine with me.

Oh, there are no Droidekas or Battle Droids in E1 MM sets XI-XIII

Sorry but it wasn't me. Discretion belongs to my principles.

It was only an incomprehension without consequences. The funny thing is there are people registred for years in the forum and nobody seems to know who is who... (the dark side covers everything...).

Most serious now, I know an Action Fleet collector who have problems with a guy who sells AF (well he said he sells AF...). She ordered some Action Fleets from this guy when she was in NYC and is still waiting for the items to come... She's in France now but her adress in NYC is still valid and no packet at all. :dead:
I've contacted Mark Borkowski (M&M collectibles) and he told he knows this guy uses mispelled well known identities to mislead people (the web page is called M&M collectables) and his e-mail "Toyhunter1" is almost the same name as "Toyhunter", a serious seller from Ebay. Well, be aware of this scoundrel. :Pirate:
Here is the page : http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/thetoyhunter1/index.html?mtbrand=AOL_US#star wars action fleet

There's a lot of rare items ; too beautiful to be true.

Spotted a Royal Starship MIMB on Ebay : $75 with buy it now. I think this one will move to Cabour's collection.

I didn't say I thought it was you Sicqnus. But it's no big deal anyways, if anyone ever asked or said anything before I wouldn't be upset, it's true so why would I get upset about it. It doesn't change the fact that I'm an insane collector, if I wasn't selling I'd never be able to afford to collect everything I want. I also wouldn't want people to not help me get what I need thinking I want it just to sell. I've never asked anyone for anything here that I didn't need for my personal collection and I wouldn't want people to think I would do that.

I've heard about the M & M collectibles guy before, I think he goes by toyhunter3 too. I was under the impression all the toyhunters were the same dishonset seller, I had no idea it was someone trying to impersonate a trustworthy seller.

i have to say i'm a bit suprised that a long time, trusted member here at ssg mm turns out to be one of the scalps over at ebay :(

you had for years been a valuable source of information and credibility, someone who folks here would gladly go out of their way to help you acquire what you sought. you in turn have helped others to get what they need.

i have for quite some time considered your alter ego ebay name to be a scalper who usually sells items with a buy it now, putting the item just out of reach of the common collector, specifically targeting the individual who will pay through the nose just to have that item.

i always wondered why your alter ego never showed up here at ssg, taking advantage of the wealth of knowlege that is given here, but now i know different, you were here all the time.

i will not forget the good things that you helped occur here at ssg, but unfortunately, i am a bit saddened by this recent revelation.

it's ironic, at least for me, that the item in question that revealed your identity, turns out to be the very same item, that you were looking out for to help me acquire.

from 8/21/2001

BTW, don't I still owe you something for the Jonny Quest MMs you got for me quite a while ago? I e-mailed you a few times but never heard from you. I believe you were hoping to get an emblemless AF green A-Wing. I still haven't seen one even up on ebay in a very long time, but I do search for it frequently.

my reply a day later

i'm too lazy fer the moment to go weedin' through the archives to find my responses to you.

you keepin an eye out for the emblemless green a-wing is di-di aynu! (translation: good enough for me!)

thanx for being on the continued lookout!

further discussions held on 4/3/2002

GSJ: You aren't going to go for the emblemless green A-Wing? Using his buy now method you can get it for 20.00. I'd say 20.00 would be a good deal on it since it is almost never seen. I noticed in his description he also has "local offers" listed and that he won't sell for below that amount. I guess that's his way of saving the reserve fees. I'm actually amazed that ebay hasn't noticed and removed the auctions yet. For another 3.00 a stand can be added. If you want it insured it's another 3.00. Even with the seemingly rip off prices 26.00 would still not be a bad deal IMO. If I needed it I wouldn't hesitate to take it.

my response

i've reached that point in my mm collectin life, that no matter how much i want something, i ain't gonna stoop down to sum scalpin scum's level to get it. period.

i'll jes bide my time, and eventually it will come to me on my terms.

(a Valuable Trait that seems to have rubbed off on moi)

GSJ: Collecting is far more important to me thna selling. Helping others has always been something I'd do whenever I can. The e-mail I sent to Swaffy explains everythign really well, so hopefully he can post my message here, which will also start off the debate with VT. You are right about some of my buy now prices being a bit high. They weren't always higher than they should be, but what I realized (which still makes no sense to me) is that higher priced AFs sell more than lower priced AFs. I'd list an AF with a buy now of 14.99, someone else would list it with a buy now of 19.99 and the 19.99 one would sell and mine would end with no bids. So, I upped some prices and believe it or not they sell better for more money than for less money. I guess some people would rather pay more, they must think they're getting a better item since they're paying more. It happens all the time and is one of the things that will never make sense to me about ebay at all.

VT: Like I said, I've never asked anyone here for anything I didn't need for my collection. I wouldn't try to get something here just to sell it. There were countless times when something was offered here for a great price (or trade) which I never tried to get since I didn't need them. (I remember someone offering I think a Tie Defender or E-Wing for an Imperial Landing Craft, now that's a good deal, I had extra ILCs, but didn't go for it since I didn't personally need it [there is about a 100.00 price difference there for those who are unaware]). In case you decide to belive me, I just finally made a deal for 2 of the last three loose GV MMs I need from set 4. I now just need the Radium Warhorse and would really love to get one form Baal Jr (or anyone that has one) to complete my GV MM collection (well, I still need carded sets 7 & 9 as well). Once i get them all they'll all be shown on GVMMs.com (I collect Galoob toy line Domain Names too, lol) for everyone to see, and they won't be for sale.

As he already posted, evilryu/S43 sent me two impressively civil e-mails stating his side of the situation. I am happy to post S43's e-mails here.

I'm going to reply to a couple of his points first. It will be clear what I'm addressing, as you read through his notes.

1. I certainly did see that there was a bidder between you and I in the final minute of the auction. However, what I'll never know is what was his max. limit bid. I was refreshing my screen non-stop in the last minute (on a T1 line, so there was no delay). When he outbid me, I instantly posted a higher bid ($16.00) with less than 20 seconds left in the auction. That bid generated an ebay notice that it was insufficient, because of the final-moment bid by evilryu666. Less than 20 seconds earlier, my $16.00 bid would've won the ship (unless darren had a max bid of $16.01, which is possible, but unlikely). Still, that possibility existed, which is why I qualified my earlier post with the comment that the outcome of the auction probably wouldn't have been any different if I'd pre-posted my intent to bid here.

2. If your motives are as benign as you insist (and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, for the moment), then the obvious question is Why weren't you forthcoming with this group about your ebay pseudonym? We even have a thread dedicated to this issue, for the explicit purpose of avoiding this very kind of misunderstanding. Perhaps you remember it? (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=250918&postcount=29)

3. You and I have traded in the past, two or three years ago, when I knew you only as Joe / S43. If I recall, I traded a TIE Defender to you for some earlier AFs I still needed. At the time of that trade, I was satisfied that the fair aftermarket value of the ships you traded to me were basically equal to what I'd paid on ebay for the Defender (~$50). I think there was also at least one other trade or buy concerning Battle Squads. I had no complaints about those dealings. In fairness, those exchanges support your position that you have been known to help out collectors. On balance, however, I've been following AF on ebay for many years now, and there is (IMHO) no amount of generous, goodwill trades you could have made in the past that would offset the profiteering I've witnessed under the 666 brand.

You've been a gentleman on this forum, and in our transactions. Your website is an asset to this realm of collecting. You're a recognized and published resource of 'expert' information on galoosbro's collectibles. Those are all admirable qualities in your favor. I think most regulars here would agree that it's those very qualities that make this feel somewhat like finding out that a pro athlete we've always respected has been placing gambling bets against the team he plays on.

BTW, I'm a computer engineer, and I don't think it's an inherently boring vocation. Often frustrating, but boring? I suppose if one were 'chained' to a desk, taking help desk calls all day. Even then, the case load should be varied enough to avoid boredom. Oh well, that's a different thread...........

Here are the e-mails from s43/evilryu666...

e-mail #2

I just checked and your max bid was 10.00, DarrenTalbott outbid you before I outbid him, so I don't see why you were upset with me. You wouldn't have won whether I bid or not. LMK.

e-mail #1

Hey what's up?

If you did post your interest about the emblemless Green A-Wing I would not have went for it. Anytime a forummer mentions wanting something before I see it, I don;t go after it. If it makes you feel better one did end a couple weeks ago for 7.00 and I didn't go for it since I had no interest in it.
Also, I saw it on ebay before Sicqnus even posted it. I check ebay multiple times a day and usually see things long before he posts them, I even see the stuff that he doesn't list (which usually end up being items he wants for himself). I check that thread only to see if anyone claims an item so I know not to bid on it. I use auctionsniper.com to place most of my bids, so I'm not actually watching the auction just before it ends, so I don;t see who's bidding, which is why I check the thread to be sure I'm not going to bid against someone else on the forum.

I don't go out buying up everything with the intention of reselling. A large majority of what I buy I end up not needing. As I'm sure you know, I collect all variations for all Galoob items. I've also discovered quite a few of them on my own. Now, the main problem with collecting what I collect is that most people are unaware or just don;t care about package variations on Galoob items. I seem to be one of the few who does. So, if I rely on peoples descriptions to figure out if it's a variation I don;t have my collection would not be even close to as large as it is. So the easiest way I've found to get what I need as well as find new variations is to buy stuff (usually lots since images are much harder to examine when cluttered with lots of items) and compare them to what I have. Then I started getting lots of extras that I didn't need and had to figure out what to do with them, so I started selling them off and trading here and there, but working out trades is far more work than selling them and buiying what I want rather than finding someone that has what I want and wants what I have.

I don't feel as if I negatively impact the Action Fleet collecting
community. I've helped so many people complete thier collections and answer any questions they have. Many people can't thank me enough for actually having pretty much everything they want, or being able to track it down for them much easier than they ever could. A lot of people just sit back and let me search for what they want rather than look themselves. That's why I got the A-Wing, one of my customers wants it so I got it for them and thye will be very happy once I tell them I got it for them.

I do have a large collection (I don't remember every bragging or boasting about it though as you said) and I also don;t try to impress anyone but myself with my collection, whcih someday will make up a very informative website for all collectors to find out about all the variations as well as see images of everything. My collection is still not complete and the few items I need and the variations I search for show up very very rarely, so helping others get what they want fits in perfectly since I'd be searching ebay all the time and hardly ever getting anything I need, resulting in lots of wasted time.

Action Fleet is by far the best toy line ever created. I love them all and
it makes me happy knowing I help out so many people get what they want. I love collecting and if I didn't sell the extras I've had I probably wouldn't be able to get into my house. Also, with all the money I would have put out on all the stuff I didn;t need in my variation search I wouldn't be able to afford what I do need when I see them.

Another thing, I wouldn't say I try to drive Action Fleet prices up. I'd
rather not pay a lot for what I need so that would go against my main
interests. Do you remember a year or so ago when Gungan Subs were selling for up to 100.00 and TF Landing Ships were way up too? They dropped in price once I started listing them. I started selling them with buy now prices for much less than they would have gone for which has kept the prices down ever since. If I actually wanted to drive prices up I'm sure I could. I almost never list any rare items on ebay which could easily be thrown up on ebay.
The reason I don;t list rare items is so I can have them when someone comes to me and says I've been lookign for something for a while and can't find it anywhere. Then I get to say, well I have it. Then they are surprised and thank me for having it and are very happy to find what they've been searching for. The second reason I don;t sell rare itesm is a lot of the times if I don;t have something I'm looking for it for soemone else. Helping someone get what they need is the best feeling. If I listed them on ebay I know most of them would go for more than I charge, but selling on ebay isn't the same as selling to someone who asks for it after searching for a long time for it. Sometimes they can't afford what they finally found and when that happens I do my best to work something out, lower the price, hold it until they can afford it, or whatever. Helping out collectors is what I like and it's more important than making money to me (if it wasn;t I could make a hell of a lot more money as a computer engineer, but that's too boring and interferes with my collecting).

So I am a hard worker (doing what I like to do rather than what I went to school for and what I could make quite a bit more money at), I'm not
wealthy, I barely get by, but I'm much happier than I would be if I was
doing anything else. Others may be in it for the money, but that doesn;t
make sense to me since you can't get rich doing this. Maybe they just have no other options. I do have other options, but I choose happiness over money any day unlike most people on this earth.

If you really don't like my side then I'm sorry. I do make plenty of people
happy, including myself, and going by how appreciative most of my buyers are I'd say I am a much more positive addition to the collecting community than negative.

The next emblemless Green A-Wing I see I'll let you know. I thought after GSJ finally got his that no one else on the forum was interested in it.

Which reminds me, I posted info about them a few times and PMed GSJ a few times about ones I saw for months until he finally got it. I am always as helpful as I can be to other forumers.

Later,
Joe

Reply to Swaffy's #1:

I just checked the bid History and Darrentalbott had a max down of 15.52, which is how I won it for 16.02 (my max was only 16.89 and I wasn;t even home to counter it if it went higher). My bid was placed 7 seconds before it ended, even though I set it to be placed 5 seconds before the end which is odd. So if you placed a 16.00 bid 20 seconds before it ended you should have been the high bidder and my snipe would then have outbid you and I would have won it for 16.50. If you posted your interest here I wouldn't have gone for it, Darrentalbott my have outbid you if that were the case, but I wouldn't have.

Swaffy#2

The reason I never mentioned it is that I figured no one would even think beyond what I do and get to the why I do it part. I've seen the way others who sell on ebay are treated. I never got involved in any of those arguements and I'm not saying anyone was right or wrong, but I wouldn't classify myself as being anything like anyone else. I do what I do because there's nothing I'd rather do than work on my collection. In the process I help others and as we all know money is needed to survive, so I combined it all and I'm much happier than I ever was even when I made a huge amount of money more than I do now. Money is far from the most important thing to me, If I see soemthing I need I'll get it whether I can afford it or not. I can always get more money later, but who knows when the next time I see some odd variation that I don't have again. Sorry, I got OT there a little. Anyways, I never mentioned it since I didn't think anyone would even bother considering my story since many people are so against selling anything for a profit for any reason.

#3 I do remeber the Defender deal and am still grateful, it was the first Defender I got which eventually turned into my loose one after I got a MIMB one much later. If I remember correctly I traded either 7 or 9 other AFs for it. I do remember doing a Battle Squads trade, and I think we also did a trade for some Starship Troopers AFs as well if I'm not mistaken.

I have a degree in computer engineering, but went to work as a programmer since I could make a lot more than I could doing anything else and I kind of liked it. It wasn;t long before I realized that doing programs for others wasn't quite as fun as being as creative as you wanted while doing what you wanted to do, so it got pretty boring and I started really dreading going to work. Here and there I would sell of a few extras that I had and after a while I did it more until I realized it was a lot more enjoyable than actually going to work. So, I decided to quit my job and take a HUGE paycut and just sell extras on ebay and have more time to focus on my collection. I don't even make a quarter of what I used to, but I like it a lot more. Most people aren't happy doing whatever they do for work. I am though, even though sometimes it is a bit frustrating not being able to what I want when I want when I was making more money thna I could spend.

If I never did start selling and kept writing code for others my collection wouldn't be as complete as it is, I probably wouldn't have even done as much work on actionfleet.com that I have (even though I still have a lot more to do), and my knowledge of the AFs/MMs wouldn't be quite what it is, since I wouldn't have been able to spend nearly as much time at it if I had a full time job. Plus searching ebay constantly for months at a time and almost never coming across anything I need is a huge waste of time, so in my mind everything works out very well.

Hi everyone,

I do not post often, but I felt I had to in this case. I just wanted to let anyone who's reading this thread know that Joe (S43, EvilRyu666) is a thrustworthy seller and an altogether great collector of AF.

He is not singlehandedly raising the aftermarket value of AFs and has always been very helpful and forthcoming with information when asked. He does however not stick his head in the sand eigther when it comes to buying and selling on ebay and will try to pay the lowest possible price for something he wants and will try to get the highest possible price for something he sells. Also, when something is going for less than fair marketprice you can trust Joe to place a bid for it (except in the case of a certain remote at-at, lol) and he usually will resell it later on again, Usually, but not always, with a profit. This in my view is just doing good business and kudo's to him for pulling it off.

To Swafman, I am really sorry you did not get the emblemless a-wing, I will even keep an eye out for one and let you know when I see one, but throwing a mad fit about it on here is not appropriate and not appreciated by me. You called Joe an ebaysclaper, a chewbacca's salad-tossin', rat's gonads-sucking, female parent-fornicating piece of saddam-dung, a snot-gargling worm, an evildoer and a prime contributor to the erosion of enjoyment and the you say you do not feel you need to apologize. My feeling is that Joe's done nothing wrong and you do need to apologize, to both Joe and the other forumites that were offended by this inappropriate use of faul language. Just my two cents.

Thanks for your input RobertDD. I'm still looking for my RC At-At which I'll hopefully get someday. That's one of the things I constantlt checking ebay for. I still have to get up there and see yours one of these days. Did you ever open the white boxed Yavin and figure out if anything was different yet? I got one so I don't need it anymore, but I'm just curious if you found any variations anyways, then I'll need a loose one, lol.

RobertDD, I also said of joe:

You've been a gentleman on this forum, and in our transactions. Your website is an asset to this realm of collecting. You're a recognized and published resource of 'expert' information on galoosbro's collectibles.

- and -

at the time of that trade, I was satisfied...... .....I had no complaints about those dealings. In fairness, those exchanges support your position that you have been known to help out collectors.

So, did I throw a petulant fit over losing "fair & square" in an eBay auction? Yes. Do I apologize? Again, NO. If I violated any SSG forum policy, then I am perfectly willing to accept censure or termination of my posting privileges. It's been a week, and the moderator has even responded to the initial post, so I would've thought if some action was going to happen, it would have by now.

Remember that when I flamed the evildoer, I had no idea that it was S43. My post was venting over 'the straw that broke the camel's back' after a very long time of seeing one particular screen name winning and reselling AF. RobertDD, as someone who has followed this forum, you don't have to be told how some here feel about scalping. Add to that, that it turns out to be a fellow MM forum member, and add to that, that the forum member posted as recently as May to a thread dedicated to people providing their eBay names to help avoid sniping each other - and he neglected to post his eBay name(!!!), and what we're left with is simply some people who are going to have to agree to disagree.

While I won't apologize for the sentiments expressed in my rant, I will apologize to any third-party forum members who were offended at my colorful characterizations.

RobertDD

Swafman,

First, thanx for the apology, I apreciate it. I also want to make clear I do not want you banned from this forum at all. I have always appreciated your input in AF matters and I think you are an important member of the community that has much to contribute.

I even, to some extend, agree with you on the scalper issues you and other forumites bring forth, but I feel Joe has always put collecting first and making money second. In my view those ethics set him aside from a scalper.

I think it comes down to: "Should anyone be making any money at all on their star wars collecting efforts?" I personally have no problem with that.

WS, I guess that was a bit of a jackpot for you on the Lego auction, shoulda asked for more huh?

Nah- I was happy to get the $1500. Too bad it's all gone now, though, as I got bills to pay.

Anyway, I'm moved out of my old place now and am still moving into my new one. New auctions ought to be appearing next week- mainly, my SW AF's and SW MM's.

Seems there was some evilness while I was gone- I don't have time to read the threads to catch up- can I get a summary please?

Thanks ^_^

i deleted dyejedi's response to warstar's request for a brief summary of the above.

the main reason was that there is no easy way to summarize the events of last week without stirring up more responses to this already well addressed and discussed topic - sorry dyejedi (if you want something done warstar, do it yourself  )

the 2nd reason is that this thread will prolly once again veer off topic, and as this is the most viewed thread in the mm section, i'd like to keep it close to being on topic. this is where people can find mm's on the web, and to keep everyone up-to-date with the current goings-on at ebay regarding galoob type items.

I saw the Numbered AF X-Wing for 499.99 as well. That's just insane. I wonder if an actual prototype would sell for that much. I know the 2 unproduced podracers went far beyond that but I assume a lot of it was since they were unproduced. Other than them I don;t think I've ever seen any AF protos for sale.

14.99 is a good deal wfor the number KB 2-pack, I think I paid about 40.00 when I got mine.

BTW, thanks Sicqnus for the info on the Avon Yavin Rebel Base. I figured it was the same as the regular release but wondered if there were extra figures or anything like the BJs versions with extra pilots.

Wow. Sorry to get back OT but I just read through the hubbub of the last week. It's saddening to find out that one of the long-term forumers is really a scalper hiding behind a facade of contrived innocence. Sometimes it's easy to forget that the our community is not of one conscience when it comes to questions of collector morality. I figured we were all opponents of scalping, just to different degrees.

On a related note there's something I wanted to add regarding this issue and this thread. Don't assume that posting an "I'm going to bid on this" message in this thread will stop another member from bidding on said item. I open up this thread two or three times a year (basically, whenever I'm really bored, having nothing better to do, and have nohing else to look at in the forum). Granted, I haven't bought an AF on eBay for well over a year, but if I see something on eBay I want, I'm going to bid. The main reason I don't read this thread is that I have pretty much every AF I want so I have reason to see posts regarding AFs on eBay. Plus, I used to go through the eBay AF listings on my own every day so there was no point for me to look at the "highlights" that are linked to in this thread. I may go buy a couple of extra TIE Fighters or something one day to build up an army (I have no plans to do so any time soon) or buy an E-Wing to help fill out my collection, but if I ever decide to do that I'd probably make the decision on a whim and would certainly not dig through post after post to make sure somebody else wasn't going to bid on whatever I was scoping. If I outbid a fellow forum member, I can pretty much guarantee that I am completely unaware that I even did so. I don't think it's completely fair to assume that posting an "I'm going to bid on this" post should give that user "dibbs" on said item.

Haggie, the thread that I started, ("what's your e-bay name?") (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=121082&postcount=1), was intended not only for posting intent to bid, but as a place where we could become familiar with each others' ebay names. That way, hopefully, we'd recognize if another foruMMer was already bidding when we were on ebay viewing the auctions.

Obviously, as you can see starting on page 53 of this thread, there will be times when more than one member will want an auctioned item. At a minimum, I was just hoping the 'ebay name' thread would be a resource to allow members to know if/when they might be bidding against each other.

Andy, not a problem, and I don't want to make a profit on it eigther. You will just have to pay whatever it costs to have it shipped by the seller to NH (where I live) and then whatever it costs me to ship it on to you. Just get in touch with me at r.dijkman@oceanfree.net and we'll work out the details.

I've emailed you Robert, but I'm not sure if you'll recieve it in time, we shall see! Thanks for your offer and I hope to hear from you soon!

Well, if you're willing to part with jsut one of them, I'll be more than happy to take #2 (destroyer droid ambush) off your hands, because I'm only buying these things for the battle and destroyer droid figures(which btw, I got my first destroyer droid today, and it is now my favorite mini fig.). Just let me know what you would like for it.(Also let me know if you'd be willing to part with any of your battle or destroyer droid figures)

It's not Galoob, but it's still awesome. At-At Vs Snowspeeder Snow Globe. I'm pretty sure it was an FAO exclusive, it plays Star Wars Music and the Snowspeeder flies around the At-At. If I remember correctly r2dee2 is the one who made me aware of it long ago:

It looks like the guy who won the Boles Rore and Neva Kees Podracers is already the high bidder on the Anakin Speeder. If he's willing to pay anywhere near what he paid for the others I don't even have a chance
:(

matthewilw, that was a fantastic snag on that set of SWAFs.

the anakin speeder looks very cool. just more upsetting to see it so near, and yet so far away........

how can any company, even one the size of Hoover (http://www.hasbro.com/) justify sitting on already-manufactured product like this, instead of shipping it or even selling it direct or through a backchannel eRetailer? :frus:

The BP is yours, if you still want it. Sorry, I must've missed this post before now.

I probably got it on clearance when our local K-Mart was closing, so I'll have to dig it out to see the price. But it should be cheap.

Let me know if you want it, and I'll verify the price & shipping details wth you.

I don't have any other extra figs, unfortunately. :)

Okay, just let me know how much you want for it, and since I'm going to be opening it you can ship it loose if you like. And if they're fairly cheep I may take numbers 1 and 3 also (those both have battle droids, right?).
