If You Were On The Hasbro Design Team.

Here's a question, If you were on the Hasbro design team, and you had the green light from Lucasfilm to make any vehicle you wanted, what would it be and why?

Mine would be the Rebel Blockade Runner that's Similar in size to the custom one Tycho made a while back. Why?, you say, because it's never been made and it's a ship that's worthy to be added to the collection. I had a thread in the Dear Hasbro section similar to this that also included the Star Destroyer as well. It got shot down pretty quick because I didn't know how to explain myself properly about what I wanted, then JarJarBinks showed me the pics of Tycho's ship and that's what I wanted to say all along, but couldn't get it out correctly. Anyways this is the one I would make if I had the green light to do so. The ship itself would have a side door and ramp, with a removable top to see the action inside. Inside would have two small corridors that lead to the bridge / pilot section of the ship. In the dead center is where the figures could stand for transport. In the rear of the ship it would have an escape pod for the droids that is removable from the ship itself. :)

I think my choice would be that TIE Fighter in one of the video games. I don't know what it was called. It had the main cockpit section like the tie bomber and three solar wings that were triangular and configured similar to the TIE Defender. I think that it is one of the cooler ships that I have seen in EU. I would also like to see Jabba's Sailbarge. I wouldn't have to be in scale, but still pretty good size. One can only dream.

I'd like them to make MORE of the existing collector fleet ships, as well as action fleet and collectors fleet versions of all the capital ships and cruisers & frigates, and I'd like them to produce the IndyJones playset & ep2 original ships & playsets. And restore the figures and the emphasis on action features for Action Fleet.

Home one. perhaps not to scale but large enough to hold ships in a docking bay and have a briefing room playset. Totally unrealistic as a dream but you did say any ship.
I'd give it working lights everywhere and massive engine sounds. The docking bay would be big enough to hold the falcon, a couple of X-wings and an A-wing. This would take up most of the body of the ship. You'd have a massive lift off panel on top to access the insides. The briefing room would have the upper level with the swivelling seat that Admiral Ackbar uses and the hanging star maps. The center would have a large hologram of the death star and the sanctuary moon on a revolving spindle. I'd pack in tons of rebel accessories like weapons and crates for equipment and vehicle maintenance energiser units and ladders for the x-wings and the lifting device to get the astro droids into the X-wings. I'd also pack in a couple of rebel officers and a couple of rebel techs.
Retail would be about $300.

Like I said - totally unrealistic and nothing but a pipe dream. :happy:

I would make a Super Star Destroyer.Large enough to hold the exclusive Star Destroyer pack in!:)I have no idea how large it would have to be,10 feet at the least.Large enough to hold the pack in or stick some Tie fighters inside.The SSD would have a bridge,with working lights and sounds,docking bay,and Emperors Throne Room:D

Jargo, that's insane, I love it! That thing would have enough plastic to make up a minivan. Perhaps the main landing bay could simply DOUBLE as the rebel briefing center a la the M.A.S.K. line's "Boulder Hill" (gas station turns into battle-ready armored HQ by flipping down big panels and folding out other sections).

Is that based on the exterior "full size" prop that the actors stood next to, the miniature model used for composite shooting, or the interior floorplan? I ask because there are several different sizes for the Falcon, at least 2 major schools of thought on the issue. If you're going by the exterior "full size" version, then I think 5' sounds about right, but that one is actually too small to have Chewie stand up in. These are the measurements I pooled from various sources for the interior and miniature:

Millennium Falcon -
Decks: 1
Height: approx. 6 meters
Width: approx. 20 meters
Length: 27 meters

So at that size, a scale Falcon would be about 6'9" long (that'd be super sweet as a toy!!! as big as the GI Joe Flagg and twice as wide).

Can you imagine how Hasbro would try to pitch the Home one idea to retailers? I'd love to sit in and listen to them try to spin that one. :D Like the idea of the briefing room being part of the docking bay but made up of flip down panels. I just thought as well that maybe a paert of the ship could also be a storage chest for a whole bunch of figures. Sort out the problem of where to put some of this stuff as well.
God alone knows how big it'd be, I have no idea. I'd have absolutely nowhere to put it anyways.
As an alternative to Home one and being a little more realistic, I'd like to see the Imperial landing craft made to compliment the shuttle. And for those of you not terribly familiar with the landing craft here's a little pic.
If you imagine that the cockpit holds at least six crew and the hold will have enough space for a platoon of troops and several speeder bikes, then scale it down to four crew in the cockpit, a couple of squads of troops and maybe space for a couple of speeder bikes and that's what I'd be looking at.
Folding side wings and working landing gear, opening cockpit canopy, firing missiles at the front and a lift off top section. Could also have a ramp at the rear with opening bay doors to access the speeder bikes. The insides would have 'seating' for the troops with rudimentary straps to hold them in place.
It'd be larger than the shuttle but not as tall.
Again I'd pack in accessories like storage trunks for weapons and a few of those nifty little patrol droids. I'd put in cool stuff for missions like marker beacons and some kind of base camp shelter and tracking monitor screens and a holo transmitter and stuff. Stuff to enhance play. Essentially the ship is just a big box with wings and a cockpit so you gotta add something.
It's a troop deployment vessel, so give the troops something to use as well.

Sorry, I'm off topic but can you confirm that Boulder Hill was a mail order exclusive? I remember getting it as a kid, and I SWEAR it was a mailway, but I need to verify. :)

This would also explain why the Falcon is so tempermental. ;)


I'd love to see Hasbro try to sell that one at TF2003, "it's an off-movie year and now is the time to strike, while the iron's still hot! Ok, the iron isn't hot but strike now and we'll make sure people buy it... ok, we can't guarantee it, but look at all the Hasbro folks in Star Wars costumes - just because they can't answer your questions and know next to nothing about the line should prove just how popular the line still is."


That Imperial Landing Craft concept of yours seems pretty cool. Your design concepts sound a little like the GI Joe Defiant shuttle.



Caesar, I can confirm that it was NOT a mail-order exclusive, my dad bought this for me for x-mas in the '80s from the local TRU. Big box, impressive toy, one of my favorite playsets of all time.
