Damage counters for AOTC

What do other people use to keep track of damage? Those paper counters that come with the 2-player starter are just annoying and I want to find a substitute.

I remember the old Pokémon decks came with glass beads, and those were pretty cool, but were can I find some of those? Also, will those glass beads used to decorate fish tanks work?

How about pennies, dimes, teeny-tiny Legos, old toenail clippings found in the carpet, etc. :)

I'm planning on taking my counters to a stationary store and having them laminated so they'll last longer.

You can get glass beads at any gaming store, they're pretty cheap. And yeah, I'm sure those fish tank beads would work fine. The only thing that's different is the gaming beads are flat on one side so they are more stable.
